Abstract

The increasing use of traditional medicinein the country has encouraged an increase in Micro and Small Enterprises(MSMEs)engaged in traditional medicine, including Micro Traditional Medicine Enterprises (UMOT) and Small Traditional Medicine Enterprises (UKOT) which have begun to emerge in society. Based on survey, there are 11 MSMEs that produce essential oils for traditional medicine and only 27,3% od MSMEs meet the Good Manufacturing Practices for Traditional Medicine (CPOTB) stage 1. One of the obligation that must be fulfilled by UMOT or UKOT in distributing the traditional medicine they produce is to have a distribution permit number for the medicine. In managing adistribution permit for traditional medicine, business actors must meet severat requirments and go through several stages explained in this article. It is estimated that business actors, both UMOT and UKOT, find it easier to manage a distribution permit for traditional medicine.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease in the form of a metabolic disorder characterised by increased blood sugar levels that exceed normal limits. The purpose of the study was to determine the characteristics of type DM patients based on their level of adherence to drug use. The study used analytical descriptive methods with a cross-sectional study approach. Research samples were determined using the accidental sampling method on subjects who encountered as many as 44 pieces that doctors have diagnosed in the Kalumata Health Centre work area and according to inclusion criteria. Variable measurement using the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale questionnaire and validity and reliability analysis using SPSS version 25. Further tests were performed using bivariate Pearson correlation analysis. The results of the statistical analysis obtained sig values. (2-tailed) between age and gender, BPJS users' compliance rates are 0.510, 0.109, and -0.192, respectively. This means that there is no correlation or relationship. The variables of education level and type of work are 0.005 and 0.014, which significantly influence the level of compliance. It can be concluded that the variables that substantially impact the level of adherence of type 2 DM patients are education level and type of work. It is essential to constantly monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implementing these recommendations to ensure an increase in the compliance rate of type 2 DM patients.

Abstract

Inflammation is a defence reaction of the body to eliminate factors that can damage and then rebuild the body's homeostasis. Synthetic anti-inflammatory drugs are known to cause many side effects. Therefore, the research for new drugs from nature is carried out, generally sourced from natural ingredients. One of the natural ingredients that has potential as an anti-inflammatory is nutmeg flesh (Myristica fragrans Houtt.). This study aimed to determine the anti-inflammatory activity of nutmeg flesh ethanol extract (EDBP) in carrageenan-induced paw edema models in Wistar albino rats. This study is an experimental study using 30 Wistar albino rats that were randomly divided into six treatment groups which included a negative control group (Sodium CMC), a positive control group (diclofenac sodium 0.9mg/200gBW of rats), and three levels of ethanol extract of nutmeg flesh: 2.5mg/200gBW, 5mg/200gBW and 7.5mg/200gBW administered orally. One hour after the treatment, the rats were injected with 0.1 ml Carrageenan 1% sub plantar. The edema volume was measured with a plethysmometer every 30 minutes for 3 hours. Anti-inflammatory activity was measured by comparing the percentage of inflammatory protection. The data were then analysed using one-way ANOVA to compare the anti-inflammatory activity between the treatment and the control groups. The results showed that EDBP 2.5mg, 5mg, and 7.5mg gave significantly different effects compared to the control group (p<0.05), where EDBP 7.5 mg showed the highest anti-inflammatory activity.

Abstract

The heart is an organ significantly impacted by diabetes mellitus problems, as elevated free radical generation and oxidative stress from hyperglycemia activate the apoptosis and necrosis pathways in cardiac myocytes. This study aimed to ascertain the histological characteristics of the cardiac tissue in rats subjected to hyperglycemia following the administration of ethanol extract from nutmeg fruit flesh (Myristica fragrans Houtt). This study employed rice as a diabetes inducer in 25 rats, categorized into 5 treatment groups: group 1 received Na-CMC, group 2 received metformin, group 3 received a dosage of 100 mg/KgBW, group 4 received a dosage of 200 mg/KgBW, and group 5 received a dosage of 300 mg/KgBW. The detected data included alterations in body weight, blood glucose levels, organ mass, and cardiac histology. The data were evaluated employing the One-Way ANOVA test at a 95% confidence level (p<0.05). The findings indicated that all groups treated with nutmeg fruit flesh ethanol extract exhibited a substantial enhancement in the histopathology of rat hearts compared to the negative control group 0,03 (p<0.05). The administration of nutmeg fruit flesh extract can ameliorate histopathological damage to the hearts of hyperglycemic rats at doses of 100 mg/KgBW, 200 mg/KgBW, and 300 mg/KgBW, indicating that nutmeg fruit flesh may serve as a cardioprotective drug in diabetic subjects.
