Abstract

The development of data telecommunications with high speed and wide coverage is currently getting higher and higher. Therefore a reliable network can provide a network with large bandwidth and capacity which is called Radio Over Fiber (ROF). Radio Over Fiber (ROF) is a combination of Radio Frequency (RF) and optical fiber-based communication, where ROF uses optical fiber as an intermediary medium. This study designed a ROF that operates at a frequency of 5.8 GHz using Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) techniques for the application of Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). The parameters considered in this research simulation are the value of BER, Q-Factor, and eye diagram using optisystem software. Based on the results of the analysis, the best BER on the 8-QAM modulation technique with a distance of 50 km is 9.02362 x 10-13 and the Q-Factor is 7.00782. Abstract

Microwave imaging system is one of the technologies that can be used to detect objects, especially in the field of medical diagnoses, such as detecting tumors in the breast. The technology used is ultrawideband (UWB) with the advantages of low cost, low power consumption, and high transmission capacity. In this study, a flexible antenna was designed at a frequency of 5.8 GHz using a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrate with a dielectric constant of 2.67 – 3.00 and a loss tangent of 0.02-0.05 for breast tumor detection applications. The antenna design process uses the CST studio suite software. The simulation results of a flexible antenna at an operating frequency of 5.8 GHz with a return loss parameter of -39.19 dB, a VSWR of 1.22, a bandwidth of 3.1 GHz in a frequency range of 4.52–7.62 GHz, the resulting radiation pattern is almost omnidirectional, and a gain of 2.26 dBi. In addition, the gain of flexible antenna with phantom breast without tumor is -23.62 dB and phantom breast with tumor is -24.85 dB at operating frequency of 5.5 GHz, which is shifted by 300 MHz from the desired frequency. Abstract

This article presented a millimeter wave antenna which operated at 38 GHz for 5G mobile base station. The MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) antenna consisted of 1x10 linear array configurations. The proposed antenna’s size was 88 x 98 mm^2  and printed on 1.575 mm-thick Rogers Duroid 5880 subsrate with dielectric constant of ε_r= 2.2 and loss tangent (tanδ) of 0.0009. The antenna array covered along the azimuth plane to provide the coverage to the users in omnidirection. The simulated results showed that the single element antenna had the reflection coefficient (S11) of -59 dB, less than -10 dB in the frequency range of 35.5 - 39.6 GHz. More than 4.1 GHz of impedance bandwidth was obtained. The gain of the antenna linear array was 17.8 dBi while the suppression of the side lobes was -2.7 dB.  It showed a high array gain throughout the impedance bandwidth with overall of VSWR were below 1.0646. It designed using CST microwave studio.

Abstract

This paper presents the characteristic MIMO 2x4 antenna for 5G communication system. The proposed antenna works at 28 GHz and simulated by using CST simulation software. The antenna uses RT Duroid 5880 substrate with dielectric constant of 2.2. The MIMO antenna consists of eight elements with rectangular patches and inset feeding. The dimension of patch (Wp x Lp) is 6 mm x 8 mm. There are three (3) antenna configurations derived in this paper such as; single element, 1x4 elements and 2x4 elements. The MIMO 1x4 elements antenna configuration is designed based on the single element antenna with the distance between center to center elements antennas of 5 mm. The MIMO 2x4 antenna is formed from the MIMO 1x4 element configuration with the opposite direction. The 2x4 element antenna, a distance between opposite antenna elements is 10 mm. From the simulation results, it is shown that by increasing the number elements of antenna affect to the directivity and the return loss. Antenna with 2x4 elements has 14 dBi of directivity with the return loss of -19 dB. While antenna with 1x4 elements, the directivity obtained is 14.3 dBi with return loss of -18 dB.

Abstract

In this paper, Simulation of the 6 Elements Aperture Coupled Feed Planar Array Rectangular Microstrip Patch Antenna is designed for CPE WiMAX Application. This Antenna uses Aperture Coupled feed to improve bandwidth. The Proposed antenna is compared to similar design of antenna with Microstrip Line feed, to justify that the proposed antenna produces broader bandwidth. Both of Antennas are designed and simulated by using HFSS simulation software and operated in WiMAX frequency range of 3.3 GHz. The 6 Elements Aperture Coupled Feed antenna gives an impedance bandwidth of 10.53 %, this is broader than the 6 Elements Microstrip Line Feed Antenna which is only has impedance bandwidth of 6.23 %. The maximum gain is obtained 8.4327 dBi at 3.4 GHz. Details of antenna design are given and simulation results are discussed.

Abstract

Gas leakage in industrial area causes many health issues. Thus, to prevent such disasters happen, the atmosphere of a workplace should be regularly monitored and controlled, in order to maintain the clean air environment. However, efforts in industrial air quality control have been impeded by the lack of science-based approaches to identify and assess atmosphere air quality and level of dangerous gas. Therefore, a monitoring system for gas leakage detection needs to be developed. For the development of this system, the combustible gas sensor (MQ9) was used in order to detect the present of methane (CH4) and carbon monoxide gas (CO). This sensor will detect the concentration of the gas according to the voltage output of sensor and operated in the alarm system, autonomous control system and monitoring system by using Arduino uno as the microcontroller for the whole system. Whereas the Zigbee will send the data reading from the gas sensor to monitoring system that display on LabVIEW Graphical User Interface (GUI). Besides, user can take immediate action upon the leakage occurs, else the gas supply and the system will shut down automatically within 10 minutes to prevent the condition becoming worst.

Abstract

This research was aimed to indicate in real-time the level of water turbidity and heavy metals (zinc, lead and iron) concentration in water of Siak river by creating a prototype design of monitoring tools. The research was conducted from upstream and downstream of the Siak River at Rumbai Pesisir Sub-District Pekanbaru. The turbidity sensor and TDS EC Meter were used by the researcher to measure the level of water turbidity. The researcher also conducted some laboratory tests in order to get the data about heavy metal concentration in water. The results were converted into NTU (Nephelometric Turbidity Units) and were shown on the website and database in graphic form by using Internet of Thing (IoT). The findings of the research showed that the level of turbidity in water of Siak River was categorized as “Poor” This can be seen from the result in which the overall score was 90-120 NTU (Nephelometric Turbidity Units). Meanwhile, based on the laboratory test result, the heavy metal concentration showed there are some transformations in water of the Siak River.
