Abstract

Promoting a culture of reading is an important aspect of community literacy development, but this is often influenced by the availability of library collections. This study aims to analyze the relationship between reading levels and the availability of collections at the Padang Pariaman District Archives and Library Office. The main question of the study is whether there is a significant relationship between these two variables. The study used a quantitative approach with a correlational descriptive design. A sample of 99 respondents was determined using simple random sampling, and data were collected using a Likert scale-based questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results of the analysis show that there is a positive and significant relationship between reading enthusiasm and collection availability, with a correlation coefficient of 0.631 (strong category) and a contribution of 39.8% to the variation in collection availability. These findings confirm that the higher the reading culture of the community, the better the perception of library collection availability. This study has implications for the development of relevant and up-to-date collection-based literacy strategies, but it is still limited to a small sample size and does not include other external variables.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of knowledge sharing on librarians’ performance at the Provincial Archives and Library Office of West Sumatra. The background of this research arises from the low effectiveness of collaboration among librarians, particularly the lack of systematic knowledge transfer between senior and junior staff, which affects service quality and performance. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed with a population of 30 librarians, all of whom were taken as the sample. Data were collected through questionnaires using a Likert scale, observations, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using simple linear regression with SPSS version 23. The results show that knowledge sharing among librarians is categorized as very good, with an average score of 3.86, while librarians’ performance is also categorized as very good, with an average score of 3.80. The regression analysis indicates that Fcount (7.278) is higher than Ftable (4.080) with a significance value of 0.010 (<0.05), confirming that knowledge sharing has a significant and positive influence on librarians’ performance. The coefficient of determination (R²) shows that knowledge sharing contributes 13.1% to performance improvement, while the remaining 86.9% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan melihat adanya pengembangan aplikasi digital di Perpustakaan yang dapat dipakai oleh setiap pemustaka dimanapun dan kapanpun akan tetapi sebagian orang berpendapat aplikasi ini mudah untuk digunakan namun ada juga yang menyebutkan bahwa aplikasi ini susah untuk digunakan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk melihat bagaimana persepsi pemustaka terhadap aplikasi iPusnas di Perpustakaan dan Museum Kebudayaan Kab. Mandailing Natal yang diukur dengan menggunakan teori TAM oleh Fred Davis tahun 1986.  Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan deksriptif. Penelitian ini terdiri dari satu variabel yaitu persepsi pemustaka. Populasi penelitian ini berjumlah 190 orang, dan sampel yang digunakan sebesar 65 orang dengan menggunakan tingkat kesalahan 10%. Teknik penganalisisan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif untuk mendeskripsikan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan dengan cara mengumpulkan, menyederhanakan, mengolah hingga menyajikan data.Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat diketahui bahwa persepsi pemustaka terhadap aplikasi iPusnas di Perpustakaan dan Museum Kebudayaan Mandailing Natal yaitu: Pertama, persepsi kegunaan aplikasi (1) Mempercepat pekerjaan terhitung dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 3,22, (2) Meningkatkan kinerja dengan nilai rata-rata 3,16, (3) Meningkatkan produktifitas dengan nilai rata-rata 3,01, (4) Efektifitas dengan nilai rata-rata 3,11, (5) Mempermudah pekerjaan dengan nilai rata-rata 3,17 dan (6) Bermanfaat dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 3,17. Kedua, persepsi kemudahan penggunaan aplikasi iPusnas yaitu (1) Mudah dipelajari memiliki nilai rata-rata sebesar 3,07, (2) Dapat dikontrol dengan nilai rata-rata 3,12, (3) Jelas dan dapat dipahami dengan nilai rata-rata 3,15, (4) Fleksibel 3,20, (5) Mudah untuk menjadi terampil/mahir 3,01 dan (6) Mudah digunakan memiliki nilai rata-rata 3,08.

Abstract

The MEMBARA Program (Membaca Buku Bersuara) is an innovative digital library service that integrates digital books with audiovisual elements to enhance early childhood literacy. This study aims to examine the impact of the MEMBARA Program on early literacy development. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed, with a population of 700 MEMBARA users from January 2024 to February 2025. A total of 87 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected via an online questionnaire distributed through Google Forms, supported by observations, and analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression with SPSS 25.0 for Windows. The results show a significant influence of the MEMBARA Program on early childhood literacy, with a correlation coefficient of 0.977 (very strong category) and a significance value of 0.000. The simple linear regression test yielded a t value of 42.414, which is greater than the critical t value of 1.666, with a significance level of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating a statistically significant effect. The study concludes that the MEMBARA Program significantly contributes to the improvement of early childhood literacy. The findings imply that the use of audiovisual digital technology in library services can serve as an effective strategy to support literacy development from an early age.

Abstract

Perilaku pencarian informasi adalah langkah setiap orang dalam melakukan pencarian informasi guna memenuhi kebutuhan informasi, setiap pencari informasi memenuhi kebutuhan informasi dengan berbagai cara yang terstruktur dan tidak terstruktur, mereka melakukan pencarian informasi karena adanya kebutuhan informasi yang disebabkan beberapa faktor tertentu, seperti yang dialami Generasi Z yang dituntut untuk paham seperangkat keterampilan dan pengetahuan sebagaimana yang dirumuskan dikurikulum, dan diwujudkan didalam mata kuliah, mata kuliah wajib maupun mata kuliah pilihan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perilaku pencarian informasi dalam memenuhi kebutuhan informasi Mahasiswa Generasi Z di Universitas Muhammadiyah Tapanuli Selatan. Penelitian ini mengunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif. Menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif,dan sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 90 Mahasiswa Generasi Z di Universitas Muhammadiyah Tapanuli Selatan dengan teknik sampling Insidental. Hasil penelitian ini adalah perilaku pencarian informasi mahasiswa Generasi Z di Universitas Muhammadiyah Tapanuli Selatan dikategorikan sebagai "cukup". Hal ini didasarkan pada hasil penelitian yang menunjukkan nilai rata-rata untuk setiap indikator perilaku pencarian informasi.

Abstract

Sharenting is a term that refers to the behavior of parents who routinely share their children's activities in visual form (photos or videos) through various social media platforms. This study aims to explore the influence of parents' digital literacy skills and risk perception on sharenting activities on social media. This study adopted a quantitative method using survey technique as the data collection instrument. By applying the snowball sampling method, 70 participants were involved in filling out the questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted by utilizing IBM SPSS Statistic software version 26.. The results of this study yielded several important findings: (1) the level of digital literacy shows a significant negative correlation with sharenting practices, indicating that an increase in parents' digital literacy ability decreases their tendency to practice sharenting; (2) risk perception has a significant positive influence on sharenting behavior, meaning that the higher parents' awareness of risk, the higher the frequency of sharenting. This reflects the phenomenon known as privacy paradox, where knowledge of potential dangers does not reduce the sharing of children's content; and (3) parents' digital literacy and risk perception simultaneously have a significant influence on sharenting practices with a total contribution of 48.8%.

Abstract

Background of the study: One of the important roles of libraries is to build a knowledge-based society ecosystem by making libraries an open interaction space through a library transformation strategy based on social inclusion. Purpose: The study was designed to investigate the issues associated with retooling and re-skilling cataloguing librarians in the digital era. Method: The design used is a qualitative analysis based on a detailed case study of the impact of the Social Inclusion-Based Library Transformation Program on Community Welfare in West Sumatra, Indonesia. Findings: The core impact of the Social Inclusion-Based Library Transformation Program is summarized by five objectives: enhancing access to information (via digitalization/literacy), fostering community skills development (via targeted training), reducing unemployment rates (via job skills/entrepreneurship), promoting social participation (via community engagement), and improving the local economy (via business development/creative economy). Conclusion: Through the programs implemented, libraries can strengthen their role as public libraries in improving the quality of human resources, so that community literacy skills increase, enabling them to play a more active role in sustainable development and achieving the goals set out in the SDGs.
