Abstract

Introduction: The pandemic due to the Covid-19 Virus has various impacts on people in the world, including Indonesia. All learning activities are carried out online, including the Clinical Skill Lab (CSL) in Medical-Surgery Nursing at ITEKES Bali. Objective: To prepare students for clinical skills, communication, physical examination, or medical procedures and invasive procedures. In teaching and learning activities, ITEKES Bali Nursing Team Lecturers use video conference media, WhatsApp group, zoom, practical learning videos and others in delivering practical subjects. This policy carried out by ITEKES would certainly affect student satisfaction in learning habits. The level of student satisfaction will be reflected in their dimensions when participating in the academic process. These dimensions include engaged learning, agency and assessment. Methods: this research employed a cross-sectional design. There were 189 students who took CSL at ITEKES Bali participated in this study. The data were analyzed by using chi-square, to analyze the dimensions of students with the level of student satisfaction. Results: The finding showed that there was a significant correlation between the student dimension and the level of student satisfaction (p 0.001) where the dimension of students who disagreed had a 3.6 times chance of being dissatisfied with online learning. Conclusion: The level of student satisfaction can be seen from the dimensions of students when participating in online learning which consists of engaged learning, agency and assessment.

Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is one of the main causes of 1.6 million deaths every year in the world. Irregularity of blood sugar control and the absence of a healthy lifestyle are risk factors and complications of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM) patients. Many factors need to be studied related to compliance to diabetes complication prevention. Objective: The objective of this research was to analyze the determinants of compliance to complication prevention in type 2 DM patients. Method: This research used a correlation design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was 233 type 2 DM patients recruited using the convenience sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses. Results: The results of the Chi-Square analysis showed several factors had a significant relationship with compliance with diabetes complication prevention, including knowledge (p 0.003), attitude (p 0.000), motivation (p 0.020) and family support (p 0.000). On the other hand, the results of multivariate analysis showed that attitude (AOR: 6.148), family support (AOR: 2.846) and motivation (AOR: 1.912) were the dominant factors in preventing DM complications. Conclusion: Compliance with complication prevention in type 2 DM patients is the main aspect that needs to be improved through improving several factors, namely patient attitude, motivation and family support.

Abstract

Background: Non-hemorrhagic stroke is a major cause of long-term disability, often resulting in motor impairment, reduced muscle strength, limited range of motion, and decreased independence in activities of daily living. Consistent and accessible rehabilitation strategies are therefore needed, especially during the transition from hospital to home care. Video-guided range of motion has emerged as a nursing-led approach to support home-based rehabilitation. Purpose: To describe the application of Evidence-Based Nursing through video-guided range of motion as an independent nursing intervention to improve functional recovery in patients with non-hemorrhagic stroke. Method: An Evidence-Based Nursing approach was conducted using the PICO framework. Literature searching was performed through PubMed, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, and Google Scholar. A total of nine relevant studies were critically appraised, including randomized controlled trials, feasibility studies, and comparative studies related to video-guided range of motion interventions in patients with non-hemorrhagic stroke. Results: The evidence indicated that video-guided range of motion improved exercise adherence, motor function, mobility, balance, and functional independence. Improvements were reported using validated outcome measures, including the Berg Balance Scale, Motor Functional Scores, and the Modified Barthel Index. Video-based range of motion showed effectiveness comparable to conventional face-to-face rehabilitation without increasing adverse events. Conclusion: Video-guided range of motion is a feasible and effective Evidence-Based Nursing intervention to support functional recovery and strengthen nursing practice in patients with non-hemorrhagic stroke, particularly in community and home-care settings.

Abstract

Hypertension remains a major public health issue in Indonesia. The 2018 Riskesdas reported that 34% of Indonesians suffer from hypertension, with 13.2% occurring in young people. Both genetic factors and unhealthy lifestyles are significant risk factors for hypertension among adolescents. These data indicate that adolescents are at high risk of developing hypertension. Hypertension is a serious condition that requires long-term care due to complications such as stroke, kidney failure, and heart disease. Providing education on hypertension and identifying its risk factors are among the key strategies for prevention in adolescents. This Community Service Program (PKM) aimed to provide information about hypertension and identify risk factors among adolescents. The activity was carried out with 50 students from SMA Negeri 1 Abiansemal, Badung Regency, Bali. The method used was PARE (Preparation, Action, Reflection, and Evaluation). The results of the program showed an increase in adolescents’ knowledge about hypertension after receiving education, with the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test indicating a z-value of -6.122 and a p-value < 0.001. Identification of risk factors revealed that most adolescents practiced unhealthy lifestyles such as low physical activity, frequent consumption of fast food and fatty foods, insufficient intake of vegetables, caffeine consumption, and smoking. Although only a small proportion of adolescents had a family history of hypertension as the main risk factor, prevention efforts are still necessary through lifestyle modification
