Abstract

Soursop fruit contains vitamin C and polyphenolic compounds that have the potential as a source of antioxidants. It is hoped that by consuming a lot of soursop fruit it will provide an increase in memory and to maintain cell damage due to free radicals. Making soursop candy preparations will allow use which is relatively easy to use and gives a good taste so that not only adults consume it but also for children. Service activities are divided into several stages starting from surveys and observations, followed by training in the form of tutorials then mentoring from the service team and ending with activity evaluation. Making soursop candy preparations is easy, simple and uses simple tools. We often encounter soursop fruit in the yard and for additional materials for making soursop preparations, it is easy to find on the market and the price is cheap. The principle of making it is all the ingredients are boiled until it becomes a semi-solid dough. Then wait until it cools down. Once cool, cut according to taste and wrapped in an attractive wrapper. Service activities carried out in RT 1/RW 1, Laweyan District, Surakarta went well while still implementing health protocols. In addition to providing training on making soursop candy preparations for PKK cadres in Kerten Laweyan Surakarta, training was also held related to opportunities to be developed as community independent businesses. The conclusion of the activity and evaluation of the preparation of soursop candy is considered to have the potential to be developed so that it can be used as an independent business product that is marketed commercially.

Abstract

Solid bath soap is one of the most common cosmetic preparations used by the public to clean the body from dirt. Grapefruit leaves contain flavonoids that are able to maintain healthy skin, and can inhibit the growth of bacteria. The purpose of this study was to formulate the leaf extract of grapefruit into a solid bath soap that has good physical and stability qualities and to determine its antibacterial effect against S. aureus. Grapefruit leaves were macerated with 96% ethanol solvent then the extract obtained was formulated into solid soap preparations with extract variations, namely 1; 3 and 5%. Furthermore, physical quality and stability tests have been carried out as well as testing the antibacterial activity of the bath soap preparations against S. aureus bacteria by agar diffusion method by means of wells. The final stage was statistical data analysis. The results showed that the solid bath soap preparations with grapefruit leaf extract had good physical quality and stability, the formulation of solid bath preparations with extract concentrations of 1%, 3%, and 5% had antibacterial activity with an average diameter of the inhibition zone against S. aureus bacteria were 5.6 mm, 7 mm and 10.8 mm, respectively, which were included in the moderate to strong category. The formulation with the addition of 5% extract had the most effective antibacterial activity with an average inhibition zone of 10.8 mm.

Abstract

Potensi penggunaan metil salisilat untuk pereda nyeri otot yang digunakan secara topikal sangat besar di Indonesia. Bentuk balsem stik merupakan inovasi yang muncul dikarenakan adanya keluhan tidak nyaman dan lengket pada tangan saat diaplikasikan. Sehingga sediaan balsem yang dianggap kuno oleh sebagian orang, kini semakin elegan dengan dibuat dalam bentuk mini stik yang praktis digunakan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan dengan metode penyuluhan dan pelatihan kepada kader PKK di wilayah Kerten Laweyan Surakarta. Penggunaan bahan-bahan yang murah dan mudah diperoleh serta dengan pengembangan label kemasan, maka hasil pelatihan yang sudah dilakukan dinilai mempunyai potensi untuk dikembangkan sebagai usaha mandiri warga.

Abstract

Sunlight is the main source of UV rays, exposure to UV rays can have a negative impact on human skin. These negative impacts can be prevented by using sunscreen. The effectiveness of sunscreen can be increased by combining UV filters and natural ingredients. This study aims to determine variations in the concentration of tamanu oil (Calophyllum inophyllum L.) in an emulgel preparation of a combination of tamanu oil and TiO2 which can provide protection as a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) with good physical quality and stability.Tamanu oil is made in 3 concentration variations of 10%; 15%; and 20% and combined with 7% titanium dioxide. Emulgel preparations as a whole were tested for physical quality and stability tests were carried out using the cycling test method. Testing of sunscreen activity in preparations was carried out in vitro using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 290-320 nm. The research results were processed statistically.The results of the sunscreen activity test for the emulgel preparation, a combination of tamanu oil and TiO2, showed that all formulas had activity as a sunscreen. The highest SPF value of the emulgel combination of tamanu oil and TiO2 was in formula 6 (20% oil and TiO2) of 9.6 and after the stability test the SPF formula 6 (20% oil and TiO2) was 9.0.

Abstract

Resveratrol adalah bahan alam yang dilaporkan mempunyai potensi antioksidan melalui pengujian in vitro metode DPPH•, ABTS•+, DMPD•+, total aktivitas antioksidan, kemampuan pereduksi serta aktivitas pengkhelat terhadap Fe2+. Resveratrol mempunyai kelarutan yang rendah dalam air yang akan berpengaruh pada bioavailabilitasnya. Sehingga dibuat sistem NLC sebagai sistem pembawa yang sesuai untuk meningkatkan kelarutan resveratrol. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi proporsi lipid cair dan surfaktan terhadap efisiensi penjerapan, pelepasan obat, dan aktivitas antioksidan serta menentukan formula NLC resveratrol dengan efek paling baik terhadap ketiga faktor tersebut. Pembuatan sistem NLC menggunakan variasi proporsi lipid cair dan surfaktan dengan metode emulsifikasi yang kemudian dilanjutkan dengan sonikasi. Formula NLC resveratrol yang dibuat dilakukan pengujian meliputi uji penjerapan, uji pelepasan obat, dan uji aktivitas antioksidan. Hasil pengujian penjerapan, formula 4 dengan konsentrasi lipid cair dan surfaktan paling tinggi menunjukkan penjerapan paling tinggi. Hasil pada uji pelepasan obat, formula 2 dengan konsentrasi lipid cair tinggi sedangkan surfaktan rendah menunjukkan pelepasan paling tinggi. Hasil aktivitas antioksidan tidak terpengaruh terhadap perbedaan variasi konsentrasi lipid cair (asam oleat) maupun surfaktan (tween 80).

Abstract

Paparan sinar ultraviolet (UV) yang berlebihan dapat menginduksi terbentuknya Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS)dalam kulit yang menyebabkan penuaan dini terutama jika jumlah ROS tersebut melebihi kemampuan pertahananantioksidan dalam sel kulit. Buah tomat mempunyai aktivitas antioksidan yang tinggi. Komponen utama antioksidanbuah tomat adalah likopen dengan kadar 30-200 mg/kg buah segar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasipotensi krim ekstrak etanol buah tomat pada variasi konsentrasi 2%, 5%, dan 10% untuk melindungi kulit dari paparansinar UV B. Efektivitas tabir surya diuji secara in vitro menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis dan secara in vivoberdasarkan skor eritema pada kelinci jantan galur New Zealand yang disinari lampu exoterra UV-B selama 48 jam.Nilai SPF sediaan dihitung menggunakan persamaan Mansur. Mutu fisik pada sediaan krim yang diuji yaituorganoleptik, homogenitas, tipe krim, viskositas, daya sebar, daya lekat, dan pH. Data dianalisis dengan KolmogorovSmirnov,uji One Way ANOVA dan post hoc Tukey. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sediaan krimekstrak etanol buah tomat memiliki nilai SPF sebesar 6,60±0,87; 13,64±1,03; dan 29,51±0,77 berturut-turut untuk krim dengankonsentrasi 2%, %5, dan 10% dengan skor eritema 0 pada 24 jam dan 1 pada 48 jam setelah pemaparan dengan lampu exoterra UV-B.. Kenaikan konsentrasi ekstrak memberikan perbedaan yang bermakna terhadap nilai SPF dan skoreritema. Data uji organoleptik, homogenitas, dan tipe krim dianalisis secara deskriptif. Kata Kunci : ekstrak etanol, buah tomat; likopen; SPF; in vivo.

Abstract

The subchronic toxicity test of Noni (Morinda citrifolia L.) ethanol leaf extract have been studied. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of subchronic toxicity of noni ethanol leaf extract (Morinda citrifolia L.) on increased levels of creatinine and BUN (Blood Urea Nitrogen) of white rats. Noni leaves were extracted by using the maceration method with 96% ethanol dissolution for 3 times 24 hours while occasionally stirring until a thick extract was obtained. Then the blood creatinine and BUN levels were determined before administering the test preparation and on day 28. The research was carried out for 28 days then continued for 14 days for the satellite group. The results of the subchronic toxicity testing that was carried out showed a double increase in creatinine and BUN levels compared to normal values. Noni leaf extract treatment caused an increase in creatinine and BUN levels in the subchronic toxicity test at doses of 250, 500 and 1000 mg/kg BW, and the highest increase in levels occurred in the 1000 mg/kg BW group

Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the proportion of food grade and effective ethanol solvent to extract antioxidant phytoconstituents in wangon leaves. This study used 50%, 70% and 96% ethanol solvent. Wangon leaves were extracted with soxhlet method to produce the corresponding extract. Then the extract was tested for its antioxidant activity and the levels of the compound suspected to be active as an antioxidant compound including flavonoids and phenolic total were determined. The results showed that the best solvent proportion for extracting wangon leaves to have the greatest antioxidant activity was 96% ethanol. It was proved that 96% ethanol extract has potency as antioxidant with IC50 value equal to 71,27 ppm better than 50% and 70% ethanol extract. The 96% ethanol extract also had the greatest flavonoid and phenolic content of 99.44 ± 1.27mg Quercelia equivalent (QE)/g samples and 121.66 ± 1.39 mg Gallic acid equivalent (GAE)/g samples. The content of flavonoid and phenolic phytoconstituents in the extract has a linear correlation and was strongly associated with its antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Hesperetin adalah antioksidan alami dengan kelarutan yang rendah dalam air (273 mg/L) yang menyebabkan bioavailabilitasnya rendah. Hesperetin dibuat dalam bentuk NLC untuk meningkatkan kelarutannya dan diformulasi menjadi sediaan serum. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memformulasi NLC hesperetin ke dalam bentuk sediaan serum dengan mutu fisik dan stabilitas yang baik dan mengetahui formula terbaik serum NLC hesperetin. NLC hesperetin dibuat dengan metode emulsifikasi-sonikasi menggunakan gliseril monostearat, isopropyl miristat dan tween 80 perbandingan (6:2:4) kemudian dikarakterisasi meliputi ukuran partikel, indeks polidispersitas, zeta potensial dan efisiensi penjerapan. Serum NLC hesperetin dibuat dengan variasi xanthan gum 0,3%; 0,6% dan 1,2%. Kemudian dievaluasi mutu fisik, stabilitas penyimpanan, penetapan nilai SPF secara in vitro, dan uji aktivitas antioksidan metode DPPH. Data dianalisis menggunakan one way ANOVA, paired sample t-test dan independent sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan NLC hesperetin memiliki karakterisasi yang baik. Serum NLC hesperetin mempunyai mutu fisik dan stabilitas yang baik. Formula terbaik serum NLC hesperetin adalah formula dengan konsentrasi xanthan gum 0,3% yang menghasilkan nilai SPF 50,97 dan IC50125,35 ppm.

Abstract

Tabir surya merupakan jenis sediaan kosmetik yang berperan sebagai pelindung kulit terhadap dampak negatif sinar UV. Kulit buah nanas (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr.) mengandung flavonoid dan tanin yang berpotensi sebagai bahan aktif dalam tabir surya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memformulasi, mengevaluasi mutu fisik dan stabilitas, serta mengetahui pengaruh variasi konsentrasi trietanolamin terhadap potensi tabir surya sediaan lotion. Kulit buah nanas dimaserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96% kemudian diformulasi menjadi sediaan lotion dengan konsentrasi ekstrak 20% dengan variasi konsentrasi trietanolamin pada formula 1 (2,5%), formula 2 (3%), formula 3 (3,5%). Lotion yang dibuat kemudian diuji mutu fisik sediaan meliputi organoleptis, homogenitas, daya sebar, daya lekat, viskositas, pH, tipe emulsi, dan stabilitas (cycling test) serta pengujian aktivitas tabir surya melalui nilai SPF. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak kulit buah nanas mengandung senyawa flavonoid, tanin, dan alkaloid. Lotion ekstrak kulit buah nanas dengan variasi konsentrasi trietanolamin sebagai emulgator memenuhi mutu fisik dan stabilitas yang baik. Semakin tinggi konsentrasi trietanolamin sebagai emulgator maka semakin rendah nilai SPF yang dihasilkan. Nilai SPF yang diperoleh pada formula 1 memiliki nilai SPF yang paling tinggi yaitu 22,23 diikuti formula 2 dan 3 masing-masing sebesar 19,52 dan 16,30.
