Abstract

Civics education on the nation's struggle is often considered less interesting to elementary school students. Therefore, this study aims to develop Digital Educational Games as Civics Education learning media based on the History of the Nation's Struggle material for Class IV Elementary School students, with validity and effectiveness. This research uses a research and development model based on the Borg & Gall model, comprising nine stages from needs analysis to field trials. Validation was conducted by media, material, and linguistics experts, with an average validity of 92%, indicating that this media is highly valid for use. The field trial involving 29 students implied that this digital educational game was effective, with an average learning outcome of 95.66 and an effectiveness rate of 90%. Thus, this digital educational game proved to be valid and effective.

Abstract

Pembelajaran pecahan sering kali menjadi tantangan bagi siswa sekolah dasar karena sifat konsepnya yang abstrak dan kompleksitas dalam operasi hitung. Salah satu strategi yang dapat digunakan untuk mengatasi kesulitan tersebut adalah pendekatan Think-Pair-Share (TPS), yang mendorong siswa berpikir mandiri, berdiskusi dengan pasangan, dan berbagi hasil pemikiran dengan kelompok. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar dan partisipasi aktif siswa kelas V MI Miftakhul Amal Bluluk dalam pembelajaran pecahan melalui penerapan metode TPS. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus dengan subjek 24 siswa. Setiap siklus terdiri atas empat tahap, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi aktivitas siswa dan tes hasil belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan dari siklus I ke siklus II. Pada siklus I, nilai rata-rata siswa mencapai 75,2 dengan tingkat ketuntasan 66,7%. Setelah dilakukan perbaikan melalui bimbingan intensif dan penggunaan alat peraga konkret pada siklus II, nilai rata-rata meningkat menjadi 81,8 dengan ketuntasan 91,7%. Kesimpulannya, penerapan TPS terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan prestasi belajar, keterlibatan aktif, serta kepercayaan diri siswa dalam memahami konsep pecahan. Pendekatan ini dapat menjadi strategi alternatif dalam pembelajaran matematika yang berpusat pada siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a digital storytelling medium based on the local wisdom of Malang City on the subject of Stories about My Region for fourth-grade elementary school students that is valid and effective for use in learning. This study was motivated by the low level of interest and engagement among students because learning is still dominated by lecture methods and textbooks. The research used the Research and Development (R&D) method with a modified Borg and Gall model, through the stages of potential and problems, data collection, product design, design validation, product revision, small group trials, further revision, large group trials, and valid and effective products. The research subjects were 14 students and fourth-grade teachers at SDN Merjosari 3 Malang City. Data were obtained through expert validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. The results showed that the media obtained a highly valid category from subject matter experts (95.45%), language experts (93.75%), media experts (95.31%), and student and teacher response questionnaires (95%). The pilot test results also showed that the media was effective in increasing student interest and learning outcomes, with average scores in the aspects of attitude (93.42), skills (87.77), and knowledge (93.88). Thus, the digital storytelling media based on the local wisdom of Malang City is valid and effective for use as learning media in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the suboptimal use of interactive digital media and the low level of student engagement in learning, resulting in a passive learning process and limited integration of local wisdom in classroom instruction. In fact, integrating local wisdom into learning media can make the material more contextual and meaningful for students. This study aims to develop and examine the validity and effectiveness of a Wordwall-based digital learning media integrated with East Java local wisdom. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the Borg and Gall model, simplified into nine stages: needs analysis, product design, product development, expert validation, revision, limited trial, field testing, effectiveness evaluation, and product finalization. Data were collected through observation, interviews, expert validation questionnaires, student response questionnaires, and pre-test and post-test instruments. The data were analyzed descriptively using percentages of validity and learning mastery. The results indicated that the media achieved a “very valid” category in terms of content, media design, and language aspects. The effectiveness test showed an increase in the average score from 70 in the pre-test to 91.80 in the post-test, and learning mastery reached 91.80% above the minimum mastery criteria (KKM). Therefore, the Wordwall-based learning media integrated with East Java local wisdom is considered valid and effective for IPAS learning in fourth-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a character-based picture storybook on the topic of Pancasila values as a learning medium for fourth-grade Pancasila Education in elementary school.The background of this research is the limited use of contextual and innovative learning media, which causes the delivery of Pancasila values to be predominantly verbal and abstract. As a result, students tend to be less active and experience difficulties in understanding and internalizing Pancasila values in their daily lives. The method used in this study was Research and Development (R&D) based on a simplified Borg & Gall model. The research stages included data collection, planning, initial product development, expert validation, revision, small-scale trials, large-scale trials, and the production of the final product. Data collection instruments consisted of questionnaires and observation sheets used during the validation and trial processes. The validation results showed that the media obtained a score of 92 from the material expert, 96 from the media expert, and 86 from the language expert. The trial involving 14 students resulted in a total score of 1,220, with a success percentage of 87.14%, which was categorized as very effective in supporting the learning process. Therefore, the developed media is considered valid and effective for use as an instructional tool. It is feasible to be implemented as an alternative learning medium for fourth-grade Pancasila Education in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in solving word problems on fraction material and the limited ability of students to understand the steps of problem solving systematically. In addition, the teacher-centered learning process caused students to be less actively involved in learning activities, resulting in suboptimal understanding of mathematical concepts. In fact, learning that emphasizes thinking processes and problem solving can help students understand mathematical concepts more deeply. This study aimed to improve students’ learning outcomes through the application of the Polya method in solving fraction word problems. The method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) with the Kemmis and McTaggart model conducted in two cycles, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 27 third-grade students at SDN Merjosari III Kota Malang. Data were collected through learning outcome tests, observation, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative approaches by calculating the mean scores and the percentage of classical learning mastery. The results showed that the application of the Polya method was able to improve students’ learning outcomes. The percentage of learning mastery increased from 51.85% in Cycle I to 85.19% in Cycle II, accompanied by an increase in the class average score. Therefore, the Polya method is effective in improving students’ ability to solve fraction word problems and helping students think systematically in mathematics learning.
