Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries with abundant natural resources that have the potential to become renewable energy at this time, the development of renewable energy is the focus of research because Indonesia is in the middle of the equator which makes more air movement, dependence on fossil fuels can be solved by using wind-powered energy. This study aimed to determine the performance of a horizontal axis windmill with a diameter of 30 cm with variations of 3 blades and 4 blades at a height of 22 meters from the ground. The results of the horizontal axis windmill research that has been carried out in this study can be seen that the wind speed at the 3 blade variation produces the lowest wind speed of 2.0 m/s with a blade rotation of 14.9 rpm and a generator output of 1.12 volts. The highest wind speed is 3.7 m/s with a blade rotation of 28.9 rpm and a generator output of 3.84 volts, while in variation 4 the lowest wind speed is 2.8 m/s with a blade rotation of 29.2 rpm and the generator output is 2.5 volts, while the highest wind speed is 4.3 m/s with a blade rotation of 42.2 rpm and the generator output is 4.9 volts.

Abstract

Based on the culture of new clothes on the New Year, Eid, and other special days, the demand for convection products will increase drastically. This condition is a big obstacle for small businesses in the creative industry in Indonesia, especially in Probolinggo. Increasing the amount of convection production in Probolinggo is by applying new technologies to accelerate the production. If convection production, both custom and general order, can be made quickly, the amount of production will increase. A buttonhole sewing machine is a machine that has the ability to embroider and buttonhole automatically. Edge sewing machine, a machine that works as a tool that is able to sew and smooth the edges of the fabric automatically. With these two machines, convection products will be faster. Both machine training service activities were carried out well. The results made using a buttonhole sewing machine show a good and short level of neatness. Edge sewing machines also provide satisfactory results. To sew and tidy up the fabric, it can be done quickly and neatly. All forms of service activities are carried out to be able to solve the problems experienced by small business partners in the creative convection industry in Probolingo.

Abstract

Kebutuhan energi listrik yang terus meningkat akibat perkembangan teknologi dan pertumbuhan populasi memberikan tekanan besar pada sumber daya energi global. Salah satu upaya untuk mengurangi dampak lingkungan dari konsumsi energi yang berlebihan adalah melalui penggunaan teknologi penerangan yang lebih efisien, seperti lampu Light Emitting Diode (LED). Lampu LED dikenal memiliki keunggulan dalam hal efisiensi energi dan umur pakai yang lebih lama dibandingkan dengan lampu konvensional, sehingga menjadi solusi penerangan yang berkelanjutan dan ramah lingkungan. Meskipun demikian, adopsi lampu LED di kalangan masyarakat masih terbatas, terutama karena kurangnya pemahaman tentang manfaat dan efisiensi energi yang ditawarkannya. Artikel ini membahas pentingnya sosialisasi penggunaan lampu LED sebagai langkah strategis dalam menghemat energi listrik di tingkat rumah tangga dan industri. Melalui program pengabdian masyarakat, diharapkan peningkatan kesadaran tentang penerangan yang efisien dan berkelanjutan dapat tercapai, sehingga masyarakat lebih memahami dan beralih ke solusi penerangan yang ramah lingkungan. Pada akhirnya, upaya ini diharapkan dapat berkontribusi pada pengurangan konsumsi energi dan emisi gas rumah kaca, serta mendukung pencapaian target energi berkelanjutan.

Abstract

The metal heat treatment industry has seen substantial growth, with market projections increasing by USD 15.18 billion from 2022 to 2027, driven by advancements in technology. The iron and steel industry significantly contributes to this growth, accounting for six percent of the market share. In this evolving landscape, the Quenching-Partitioning-Tempering (Q-P-T) technique is emerging as a valuable heat treatment process for enhancing Advanced High-Strength Steels (AHSS). The Q-P-T process, involving Quenching, Partitioning, and Tempering, aims to improve the mechanical properties of medium-carbon steels through controlled thermal modifications. This study explores the effects of varying holding times during the Q-P-T treatment on the mechanical properties and microstructure of medium-carbon steel ST60-2. Steel samples were subjected to holding times of 10, 15, and 20 minutes at a temperature of 920°C, followed by quenching to 350°C and partitioning at the same temperature for 15 minutes, with final tempering at 200°C. The results indicate that longer holding times enhance mechanical properties such as Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS), Product of Strength and Elongation (PSE), and hardness, with the 20-minute sample (Sample 3) achieving the highest UTS of 74.02 kgf/mm² and elongation of 16.63%. Hardness peaked at 109.33 HRB, and improved toughness was observed due to better phase transformation and carbon partitioning (1.36 Joule/mm²). Microstructural analysis revealed finer and more uniformly distributed cementite particles with extended holding times, contributing to enhanced material performance. The findings underscore the potential of Q-P-T heat treatment in optimizing medium-carbon steels, offering a tailored approach for applications requiring superior mechanical properties.

Abstract

This research aims to design and develop an advanced monitoring system for solar cells, incorporating solar tracking technology and equipped with an energy storage protection system. In Indonesia, the substantial potential of solar energy remains underutilized, despite the country's advantageous equatorial location, which provides a solar radiation intensity averaging 4.5 kWh/m² per day. The proposed system in this study seeks to maximize solar energy capture by employing a tracking mechanism that aligns the solar cells with the direction of sunlight throughout the day. Additionally, the system is designed with an integrated protection feature to prevent battery overuse, thereby extending the battery's lifespan and ensuring efficient energy storage. The research utilizes an Arduino Uno microcontroller, Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) sensors, and an INA219 sensor module as the primary components for accurate measurement and real-time monitoring. The system's effectiveness is evaluated based on its ability to optimize solar energy reception and maintain the longevity and efficiency of the energy storage system. Experimental results demonstrate that the developed system significantly improves the efficiency of solar energy capture by the solar cells and provides robust protection for the energy storage mechanism. This study contributes to the field of renewable energy by offering a practical solution for enhancing solar energy utilization in regions with high solar irradiance, thus promoting sustainable energy practices and reducing dependence on non-renewable energy sources.

Abstract

The development of renewable energy is becoming increasingly important in addressing the challenges of climate change and the growing energy demand. One promising approach is the utilization of the Internet of Things (IoT), which enables efficient and coordinated energy management. In this context, community service activities were conducted in collaboration with the TNI Kodim 0820 to socialize the use of IoT in the development of renewable energy. Through lectures, training sessions, and demonstrations of installing solar power systems (PLTS) and wind power systems (PLTB), participants were introduced to the concepts and benefits of IoT in renewable energy. The aim of these activities is to enhance the knowledge, skills, and participation of the community in managing renewable energy. The results of the activities show that the collaboration between Panca Marga University and TNI Kodim 0820 contributes positively to accelerating the transition towards cleaner, more efficient, and sustainable energy. These initiatives are expected to serve as a foundation for larger and more sustainable renewable energy development projects in the future.

Abstract

The community service activity at SMPN 2 Dringu in Probolinggo Regency aimed to address environmental issues within the school, specifically the frequent waterlogging in certain areas that disrupted activities and posed safety risks. As a solution, the introduction and implementation of Biopore Infiltration Holes (LRB) were carried out at the school. Biopores function to enhance water infiltration, reduce waterlogging, and improve soil quality. This community service activity involved observation, preparation, as well as conducting educational sessions and practical biopore planting by students, with the goal of raising awareness and enhancing capabilities in addressing environmental issues. The results of the activity showed a reduction in waterlogging duration by up to three hours and a decrease in organic waste volume through the use of biopores as compost. The implementation of biopores not only helped mitigate flood risks but also improved the school's environmental quality, supporting sustainability and environmental health.

Abstract

The revitalization program for traditional mackerel cracker businesses in Probolinggo City has successfully improved production capacity through the implementation of Advanced Dough Mixer technology. This technology replaced the manual mixing method, increasing production efficiency by 50% while ensuring product consistency and hygiene. Additionally, e-finance and digital marketing training was provided to the partners to enhance financial management and expand market access through e-commerce platforms. The results of this program showed a significant increase in the partner’s production capacity, from 7 kg per day to 10-12 kg per day. Digital marketing efforts also boosted sales by 50% through online stores. This program not only improved the quality of mackerel crackers but also opened broader market opportunities and directly contributed to the improvement of the local economy. The participation of students in this activity also contributed to the development of technical and entrepreneurial skills relevant to the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program framework

Abstract

Permintaan global terhadap ikan diperkirakan akan meningkat secara signifikan, dengan nilai pasar naik dari 338,47 miliar dolar AS pada 2022 menjadi 730,28 miliar dolar AS pada 2030. Namun, ekspor perikanan Indonesia hanya mencapai 5,6 miliar dolar AS pada Januari-November 2023, di bawah target 7,2 miliar dolar AS untuk 2024. Di Probolinggo, hanya 227 UKM pengolah hasil kelautan yang memiliki sertifikat P-IRT, dengan salah satu produk unggulan “Sambal Bledeg Probolinggo,” yang memiliki potensi untuk dikembangkan menjadi sambal ikan asap. Mitra menghadapi tantangan, seperti masa simpan produk yang pendek, kurangnya teknologi pengemasan, dan manajemen keuangan manual. Solusi yang diusulkan meliputi investasi dalam teknologi pengemasan modern, pelatihan pengolahan ikan, dan penerapan sistem manajemen keuangan elektronik (e-finance). Proyek ini mencakup pembuatan Continuous Band Sealer dan Smokehouse, yang terbukti efektif dalam mendukung produksi. Pelatihan yang dilaksanakan mencakup penggunaan Continuous Band Sealer dan teknik pengolahan ikan asap menggunakan smokehouse. Selain itu, pelatihan e-finance dirancang untuk meningkatkan kapasitas mitra dalam pengelolaan keuangan bisnis secara efisien. Setelah pelatihan, mitra dapat mengoperasikan alat dan memproduksi sambal ikan asap yang mendapat respon positif dari konsumen. Program ini berhasil memberdayakan mitra untuk memperluas produksi dan meningkatkan daya saing di pasar lokal. Penerapan teknologi hard dan soft menunjukkan dampak positif pada kebermanfaatan dan produktivitas usaha, dengan fokus pada efisiensi dan kualitas produk.

Abstract

Technological developments and increasing population have created various problems, one of which is the energy sector. Indonesia has considerable potential to develop and exploit the potential of sunlight which can be converted into electrical energy. However, these efforts cannot run well if human resources (HR) do not understand the working system of solar power plants (PLTS). Therefore, efforts are needed to introduce and explore the potential of existing human resources. The target object of community service activities is carried out to junior high school students. PLTS is an interesting technology to convey to teenagers. Besides being able to arouse curiosity about PLTS, teenagers can also provide innovations in PLTS technology. Participants were enthusiastic when participating in the event and understood various types of renewable energy and renewable energy sources and understood the working system of solar panels.
