Abstract

The social support is increasingly accepted as an important factor that influences the wellness of a human being, particularly people with chronic diseases. This study translates and validates the quantitative questionnaire that has been developed and has been widely accepted across cultures, namely the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS). The study was initially performed by translating the original questionnaire using forward and backward translation methods. Thirty cancer patients from Margono public hospital Purwokerto, Indonesia were conveniently included to evaluate the transleted questionmaire’s cconvergent, discriminant validity. Furthermore, 45 cancer patients were included in the main study which evaluate the level of social support among cancer patients. According to factor analysis, Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin Measure of Sampling Adequacy showed that the results is valid (0.668) while the Bartlett’s Test of Sphericity also showed that the number of samples were adequate (0.668) and eligible for factor analysis. The Measures of Sampling adequacy from each question was considerably higher than 0.5 and therefore there were no translated question that has to be removed in the analysis. There were 3 out of 12 factors that was included with the total variance of 81.166%. The Pearson’s correlation and Cronbach Alpha tests showed that discriminant validity and reliability test of the translated questionnaire were valid (>0.400) and reliable (>0.700) questionnaire. The translated version of the MSPSS was considerably a valid and reliable questionnaire to evaluate the level of social support for cancer patients in Indonesia.

Abstract

Background: Cesarean section has a 5 to 7 times greater risk of maternal and child mortality than prevaginal delivery. Several other complications, namely reduced mobility, prolonged pain in the surgical wound, and longer hospital stays affect the patient's quality of life. The ERACS protocol, which is a multidisciplinary approach, is a good strategy to reduce the negative effects of cesarean section. Objectives: To find out whether the ERACS protocol is more cost-effective than the non-ERACS protocol from a patient’s perspective. Methods: Researchers took data on costs and quality of life (using EQ-5D-5L) prospectively at private hospitals in Wonosobo which then calculated the value of the ICER. The cost components measured include direct medical and non-medical costs as well as indirect costs. The effectiveness of the measures in this study was reported in terms of reducing the LOS to 1 day, which represents a faster recovery and reduced costs. In this study, there were 2 sample groups, namely the ERACS protocol group with 24 respondents and the non-ERACS protocol group with 75 respondents. Results: Based on the research, the effectiveness of the protocol in the form of improving the quality of life of patients was seen from the utility value and higher costs in the ERACS group compared to the non-ERCAS group (utility 0.771 vs 0.715; cost IDR.16,127,183 ± 5,023,356 vs IDR. 10,459,562 ± 3,826 .424) and obtained an ICER of 94,311,767 which means that the patient needs to add IDR.94,311,767 to improve the quality of life of post-cesarean section patients, which value is higher than Indonesia's 2022 GDP.Conclusion: ERACS measures are more cost-effective when compared to non-ERACS measures because the ICER value is below three times Indonesia's 2022 GDP according to the perspective of patients at private hospitals in Wonosobo.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the role of academic resilience, specifically the adaptability and psychological capital capabilities of international students. This study adopts a qualitative case study, where the informants are undergraduate international students who have resided for at least three months and currently studying at a private university in Indonesia. The research indicate that psychological, sociocultural, and academic adaptation are interrelated and contribute to an individual's overall success in a new environment. These key factors cannot be implemented partially but must be approached holistically to effectively build expatriate academic resilience. Success in overcoming existing obstacles shows the importance of external and internal supporting factors in the adaptation process. This research is limited to undergraduate international students from an Indonesian private university and only includes students from one country and limited reference sources. Future research can expand the number of informants including international students from several countries. Keywords: Academic Resilience; Expatriate Academic Resilience; Adaptability Capabilities; Psychological Capital

Abstract

Kata kunci : beras, pemutih, klor, betadine ABSTRACT Chlorine is one of the prohibited uses of Foodstuffs. According to the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No.033 / Menkes / Per / IX / 2012, that chlorine is not recorded as a Food Additives (BTP) in the bleaching and flour milling group. Chlorine is used as rice bleach which is intended to have a super quality rice at a high price. The community will find it difficult to distinguish whether or not rice contains chlorine or not, so a simple test can be carried out by the community. Povidon iodine, also known as betadine, which is an antiseptic wound, is one alternative used to qualitative identify chlorine content in food and water. The purpose of this study was to determine whether betadine can be used as an alternative for identification of chlorine in samples of branded and non-branded rice. The results showed that betadine could be used as an indicator of chlorine identification in rice samples sold in the market. Ten rice samples were identified, two of which were indicated to be positive for chlorine bleach. The rice sample is positive for chlorine if after adding it with betadine it produces a cloudy white color. The affirmation test was carried out by adding a solution of starch and 10% KI to the rice sample and producing a blackish blue color. Key words: rice, bleach, chlorine, betadine

Abstract

Introduction: Lung cancer remains a leading cause of death worldwide, with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) carrying the highest incidence among lung cancer types, particularly in patients with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations. The first-line therapy for NSCLC lung cancer patients with EGFR mutations typically involves the tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) group. Objective: The study aimed to compare the cost utility of the two TKI groups (afatinib and erlotinib) for NSCLC patients with EGFR mutations. Methods: This pharmacoeconomic study was conducted using the Cost Utility Analysis (CUA) method from the patient’s perspective. The study included 33 patients receiving afatinib and 12 patients receiving erlotinib, conducted in 2022-2023 at Kariadi Hospital, Semarang, and Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Hospital, Purwokerto. Therapeutic outcomes were measured using Quality Adjusted Life Year (QALY), and cost components included actual costs and estimated costs based on clinical pathways. CUA was presented in the form of an Incremental Cost Effectiveness Ratio (ICER).Results: The cost of afatinib was greater than that of erlotinib (IDR 174.395.847 vs. IDR 138.672.688). The quality of life of afatinib was better than that of erlotinib (0.397 vs. 0.161, p-value 0.016). The ICER of afatinib was IDR 151.369.318 per QALY when compared to erlotinib. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that afatinib is a cost-effective treatment option for NSCLC patients with EGFR mutations.

Abstract

Background: Medication adherence is critical for managing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The Medication Compliance Questionnaire (MCQ) is a widely recognized tool for assessing adherence but has not been adapted for T2DM in Indonesia. This study aimed to adapt and validate the MCQ in the Indonesian socio-cultural context. Methods: A cross-sectional study at community health centers (May–Aug 2024) involved forward/back translation, content validation using Aiken’s V, and psychometric assessment among 230 patients. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) assessed construct validity, including convergent, discriminant, and reliability. Results: Aiken's V index indicated strong content validity (average = 0.881). EFA identified two dimensions—practical adherence and patient perception—explaining 49.25% of the variance. Composite Reliability (CR) values exceeded 0.70, indicating good internal consistency. While the Average Variance Extracted (AVE) was below 0.50, CR ≥ 0.70 confirmed convergent validity. No significant cross-loadings supported discriminant validity. Conclusion: The validated Indonesian version of the MCQ consists of six items, demonstrating strong validity and reliability. The two-factor structure reflects practical adherence and patient perception, making it a valuable tool for assessing medication adherence among Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) patients in Indonesia.
