Abstract

Tambaklorok is a fishermen kampong located in Tanjungmas, North Semarang. This settlement is known for its fish landing base where people daily come to buy marine products. The population of the kampong which was purely consisted of traditional fishermen at first is recently turning into mixed population with its problems like poverty and bad infrastructures that make this place unhealthy to live. However, behind these problems, this area also has a potency to be a maritime tourist object. The purpose of this research is to find influence factors of fishermen settlement performance as the implementation of the plan to create a maritime tourism kampong that was made by Semarang Municipality in 2015. This research used positivistic research paradigm with quantitative approach, and for processing data, it used statistical test with factor analysis. Based on statistical test and analysis, there are 6 influence factors of fishermen settlement performance that potentially support the development of the maritime tourism kampong.

Abstract

The phenomenon of urban growth in rural areas created sub-urban areas like Tangerang region. Occupancy of space created by planned settlement against unplanned settlement raises spatial and social segregation. Previous studies have shown more on the negative side of the collision phenomenon with the point of view of the occurrence of physical and social unconformity between the newcomers as residents of planned settlements with the natives. On the other hand, it turns out that unplanned settlements still exist, thus raising the question of research is there conformity in the point of view of unplanned settlement settlers? To get an answer to the question, this research used analytical descriptive method, where data obtained directly from the field through observation and in-depth interviews with unplanned settlement settlers. The result of the analysis showed that although the spatial and social segregation is apparent, the community of unplanned settlers does not feel disturbed and the daily social economic activity of the community keeps going well, even the quality of life improves in some points. Such conditions create a form of internal conformity with parameters formulated by the community, including access to and from unplanned settlements, integrated infrastructures, open access to economic activities, and still guaranteed socio-cultural activities.

Abstract

Historical areas that support tourism activities will always adapt to match the complexity of tourism needs in the last few decades. The uniqueness of Kotagede is that there are traditional settlements of silver craftsmen's (Javanese: Abdi Dalem Kriya). The history of silver craftsmen's settlement has been formed since the Dutch colonial era and has survived until now as a characteristic of Kotagede. Silver craftsmen in Kotagede have a dilemma to survive for SMEs home-based or adapt to sell products to a larger scale industry. The research objectives are to determine whether or not there is a change in the settlement function caused by the silver home-based industry activities and to what extent the change has occurred. The method used is a quantitative method with a positivistic paradigm and uses descriptive analysis for data interpretation. Statistical data analysis used multivariate linear regression (SPSS V26). In this study, it was found that there was an effect of Silver home-based Industry Activities on change in residential space function with the low significance of 25.6 % while 74.4 % was thought to be influenced by other activities outside the research model. Partially, the highest variable effect on settlement changes is production activities that can be found in Purbayan and Prenggan Village. With the low significant impact results on settlement changes, It is hoped that the silver production activities (home-based industry) have the potential to be promoted as part of the survivability concept of tourism in Kotagede by advancing SMEs itself.
