Abstract

Emotional intelligence is an individual’s ability to understand personal emotions and the emotions of others, regulate and direct oneself, maintain motivation, and build interpersonal relationships. This study aims to describe the emotional intelligence of adolescents who play the online game Free Fire in Kupang City. The study involved six adolescent participants selected through purposive sampling and snowball techniques based on predetermined criteria. The research employed a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews and analyzed using an interactive analysis technique. Data validity was ensured through member checking and an audit trail. The findings indicate that adolescents who play Free Fire demonstrate the emergence of various aspects of emotional intelligence during gameplay. Participants were able to recognize the emotions that surfaced, manage their reactions when facing stressful situations, and maintain motivation to improve their playing skills. Empathy toward teammates appeared in several situations, although not consistently across all participants. Social skills were reflected in the communication and cooperation established during play. ABSTRAK Kecerdasan emosional adalah kemampuan seseorang dalam memahami perasaan diri sendiri dan orang lain, mengendalikan dan mengarahkan diri sendiri, memotivasi diri, dan menjalin hubungan dengan orang lain. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Gambaran kecerdasan emsoional pada remaja yang bermain game online free fire di Kota Kupang. Partisipan yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 6 orang remaja, yang diperoleh melalui teknik purposive sampling dan snowball dengan kriteria yang sudah ditetapkan. Metode yang digunakan untuk mengkaji data dalam penelitian ini ialah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik wawancara semi tersruktur. Data yang diperoleh kemudian akan diolah dengan menggunakan teknik analisis interaktif. Uji keabsahan data dilakukan melalui member check dan audit trail. Hasil dari penelitian menujukkan bahwa remaja yang bermain game online free fire memperlihatkan munculnya aspek-aspek kecerdasan emosional dalam aktivitas bermain. Partisipan mampu mengenali emosi yang muncul, mengelola reaksi saat menghadapi situasi menekan, serta menunjukkan motivasi untuk meningkatkan kemampuan bermain. Empati terhadap rekan tim muncul dalam beberapa situasi, meskipun tidak terjadi pada seluruh paertisipan. Keterampilan sosial terlihat melaui komunikasi dan kerja sama yang terbentuk selama bermain.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the process of parental forgiveness toward teenage daughters who experience out-of-wedlock pregnancy in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Indonesia. This region is known for its patriarchal culture that highly values family honor, making teenage pregnancy a heavily stigmatized social issue. While many studies have examined the impact of teenage pregnancy, few have explored how parents, particularly in the local cultural context, process their emotions and forgive their children. Using a qualitative approach with Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), this study involved five parents who were interviewed to explore their experiences. The findings reveal five key stages in the forgiveness process: (1) early detection of pregnancy through parental intuition, (2) initial emotional reactions such as anger and disappointment, (3) transition toward unconditional love and protective actions, (4) social and spiritual support that strengthens acceptance, and (5) varying attitudes toward the male counterpart involved. This study fills a gap in the literature regarding the emotional dynamics of parents facing teenage pregnancy in Eastern Indonesia and provides insights for culturally sensitive counseling practices in handling similar cases. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami proses pemaafan orangtua terhadap anak remaja yang hamil di luar nikah di Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), Indonesia. Daerah ini dikenal dengan budaya patriarkal yang sangat menjunjung tinggi kehormatan keluarga, sehingga kehamilan remaja menjadi masalah sosial yang sangat distigmatisasi. Meskipun banyak penelitian yang meneliti dampak kehamilan remaja, belum banyak yang membahas bagaimana orangtua, khususnya dalam konteks budaya lokal, memproses perasaan mereka dan memberi maaf kepada anak mereka. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif menggunakan metode Analisis Fenomenologi Interpretatif (IPA), penelitian ini melibatkan lima orangtua yang diwawancarai untuk menggali pengalaman mereka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan lima tahap penting dalam proses pemaafan: (1) deteksi awal kehamilan melalui intuisi orangtua, (2) reaksi emosional awal seperti marah dan kecewa, (3) transisi menuju kasih sayang tanpa syarat dan tindakan perlindungan, (4) dukungan sosial dan spiritual yang memperkuat penerimaan, dan (5) sikap yang bervariasi terhadap pihak laki-laki yang terlibat. Penelitian ini mengisi kekosongan literatur mengenai dinamika emosional orangtua dalam menghadapi kehamilan remaja di Indonesia Timur, serta memberikan wawasan bagi praktik konseling yang lebih sensitif terhadap budaya dalam menangani kasus serupa.

Abstract

Early adulthood is a crucial transitional phase faced with heavy developmental demands, where an individual's psychological well-being is often threatened by the long-term impact of past trauma in the form of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE). The focus of this research problem is to describe in depth the level of religiosity in early adults in Kupang City who have a history of adverse childhood experiences. The research steps were carried out through a quantitative descriptive approach involving 383 respondents aged 18 to 25 years as the research sample. Data were collected using the ACE Scale which covers 13 types of traumatic experiences and The Centrality of Religiosity Scale which measures five main dimensions of spirituality, then the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The quantitative research findings revealed that the majority of participants, namely 73.1%, were in the high to very high ACE category, while their religiosity profile also showed a very significant percentage in the high to very high category at 91.9%. The main conclusion of this study confirms that high exposure to adverse childhood experiences does not automatically reduce an individual's spiritual commitment. In the socio-cultural characteristics of the religious city of Kupang, religion remains a prominent identity and a source of coping for young adults to make sense of life despite their difficult past history, which also becomes an important basis for designing spirituality-based psychological interventions in the future.

Abstract

Job stress is a common problem experienced by salespeople due to the demands of achieving targets, high workloads, and dynamic working conditions. This condition has the potential to affect the physical, psychological, and behavioral health of salespeople, thus impacting their performance and well-being. This study aims to describe and analyze the experiences of job stress experienced by salespeople, the factors causing stress, and its impact on daily work activities. The focus of the study is directed at physiological, psychological, and behavioral aspects in response to job stress. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews with purposively selected informants, accompanied by observation and documentation as supporting data. The data analysis process was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon under study. The research results show that work stress causes physical impacts such as fatigue, body aches, and minor health problems; psychological impacts such as anxiety, emotional instability, and decreased work motivation; and behavioral impacts seen in decreased concentration and work effectiveness. The main factors causing stress include pressure from sales targets, excessive workload, and limited rest time. The study's conclusions confirm that work stress in salespeople is multidimensional and requires organizational attention through workload management, adequate work support, and strategies to improve employee well-being.
