Abstract

School libraries play a vital role in supporting the learning process, enhancing students' reading interest, and fostering a culture of literacy. However, at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) level, library management still faces several challenges, such as limited book collections, poorly arranged spaces, and low utilization by students and teachers. A mentoring program was carried out to strengthen the library’s role as a school literacy center. The program consisted of three main stages: needs analysis, workshops, and implementation. The analysis phase identified existing problems, the workshop phase provided training for librarians and teachers on library management and digitalization, and the implementation phase focused on reorganizing the space, updating the book collection, and conducting literacy programs. The results showed significant improvements in the competencies of library staff, optimization of library services, and increased student enthusiasm for using the library. The program also encouraged teachers to integrate library use into the learning process. Thus, the mentoring activities effectively strengthened the literacy culture and established the school library as a sustainable learning center in the MI environment.

Abstract

Students often view mathematics negatively because of the emphasis on memorizing formulas rather than conceptual understanding. Moreover, the delivery of theories is carried out without using learning media. As a result, students find it difficult to understand the material, especially in students' numeracy skills due to the minimal use of learning media. This study was conducted based on a gap in previous research, namely that there has been no research that shows the development of concrete media that focuses on improving numeracy as well as improving students' numeracy through story problems that are relevant to everyday life. The purpose of this study is to develop Calbox Jurang learning media to overcome problems in mathematics subjects, especially addition and subtraction materials and to improve the numeracy skills of class I students of MI Al Falah Kebonagung. This Calbox Jurang media provides an interactive learning experience with the visualization of concrete objects so that it can help students to explore mathematical concepts actively, compared to other concrete learning media that tend to be less likely to provide opportunities for students to be actively involved in the learning process. This research method uses R&D research with the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Data collection techniques use observation, interviews, questionnaires, tests, and documentation. The results of the validation of design experts obtained 82.5%, material experts 87.5% and language experts 85%. From the results of the three media validators, it can be categorized as suitable for use. The pretest results obtained 63.75%, and there was an increase in the posttest results of 90.75% and the effectiveness test results were 0.74 in the high category. So, it can be concluded that the development of Calbox Jurang learning media can improve students' numeracy skills and can be used as a learning medium for addition and subtraction materials.

Abstract

The majority of the people in Sranak village Trucuk, Bojonegoro district, make their living as farmers. But what is experienced is that the harvest is not proportional to the expenses used for maintenance costs. In fact, the maintenance costs are greater than the harvest. This is because some fertilizer prices are very expensive and fertilizer subsidies from the government are also limited. An economical solution is to replace subsidized fertilizers from the government with organic fertilizers through the use of natural ingredients. The purpose of this community service activity is as a form of community empowerment through the manufacture of organic liquid fertilizer from natural ingredients that are easily obtained and will be able to replace chemical fertilizers and subsidized fertilizers from the government. The method applied in this community service activity is a training method that begins with a Focus Group Discussion followed by determining the material, implementation to evaluation. The community of Sranak village 75% successfully understood the material received and could add to their agricultural yields and minimize the use of chemical fertilizers after applying liquid organic fertilizer. The application of this simple technology can be a pilot in other villages in creating economic and environmental sustainability.

Abstract

Learning that emphasizes critical thinking skills is essential to equip students with the ability to analyze, evaluate, and solve problems. One approach that can foster these skills is the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model, which encourages students to actively search for solutions to real-world problems. This study aims to examine the impact of implementing the PBL model on the critical thinking skills of students in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. The research question addressed is how the application of PBL can enhance students' critical thinking skills compared to conventional teaching methods. This research uses an experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group approach. The sample consists of two groups: an experimental group using the PBL model and a control group using conventional methods. Data was collected through pretest and posttest assessments of critical thinking skills. The results show that the experimental group experienced a significant improvement in critical thinking skills, with a higher posttest average score compared to the control group. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the PBL model is effective in enhancing the critical thinking skills of students in MI.
