Abstract

The Beriuk Tinjal dance is a traditional performing art from Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, preserved through the Rengganis Art Studio. This study aims to explore the philosophical meanings and cultural values embedded in the Beriuk Tinjal dance and to assess the strategic role of the art studio in sustaining this heritage amidst globalization. Using a qualitative approach with methods including observation, interviews, and literature review, this research uncovers that the dance embodies the Sasak community's core values, such as unity, harmony, and respect for ancestors. Each dance movement holds symbolic meaning, reflecting the cycles of human life, environmental stewardship, and spiritual devotion. Moreover, the Rengganis Art Studio acts as a guardian of tradition by integrating moral education and cultural identity into its training programs for younger generations. This study highlights the dance's dual role as an aesthetic and educational medium, providing insights into the interplay between art and cultural sustainability. The findings underscore the importance of community-based initiatives in preserving traditional arts while adapting to modern challenges. These results contribute to broader discussions on cultural preservation and the revitalization of intangible heritage in contemporary society

Abstract

The learning of Art Music in Junior High School can be conducted in various ways, one of which is the use of innovative media. One of these innovative media is Perfect Ear as an Android application used to train aural skills and musical taste in a person who is eager to learn about music theory, specifically rhythmic training. Perfect Ear has been widely played and uploaded by a large number of people. This study aims to measure the effect of Perfect Ear on students' learning concentration level. The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research with a Quantitative approach and using statistical analysis (SPSS). The results showed that the independent variables X1: Game Based Learning, X2: Perfect Ear, and X3: Reading rhythmic notation have a correlation with each other on the dependent variable Y: Learning Concentration. Here are the research results: 1) Game Based Learning is 95% proven to significantly affect the level of learning concentration, 2) Perfect Ear is also proven by 95% in influencing the level of concentration, 3) Reading rhythmic notation has no influence on the level of learning concentration, but 4) Game Based Learning, Perfect Ear, and reading rhythmic notation have a 95% influence on the level of learning concentration when they are combined. And in the final measurement, the R Squared value is 31.80%, which means that the total percentage of the effectiveness of the independent variables (X1, X2, X3) on the dependent variable (Y) is smaller than the total percentage derived from other independent variables

Abstract

Drama is one of the components of theater education that can be integrated with other art forms. Within the various elements of theater or drama, there is a collaboration of visual arts, music, dance, drama, and literature. Popular music has been developing in Indonesia since the colonial era, particularly in the 20th century. During this period, genres such a Krontjong, Jazz, orchestral music, and rock music began to emerge. In the world of popular music, rock music has carved out its own space among enthusiasts, symbolizing freedom, rebellion, and high creativity, marked by its dynamic melodies and rhythms, as well as its profound lyrical content. Rock music has become a medium through which listeners express themselves. This article aims to elaborate on musical drama as a form of performance conducted by secondary school students, who take on the dual roles of actors and production team members, in exploring rock music through musical theatre. Such an approach enriches the students’ acting experiences within a musical context. Integrating rock music into the performing arts provides a fresh atmosphere that can influence the students’ characteristics and experiences. This study employs an exploratory qualitative method, involving various stakeholders, to analyze the implementation and impact not only to enhance students’ experiences in acting, but also to stimulate creativity by encouraging the analysis of rock music characteristics, which are expressed through drama. This process supports the development of diverse ideas in musical theatre, ultimately contributing to the quality and elements of school-based musical performance

Abstract

Abstract

This study explores the symbolic meanings embedded in the lyrics of Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin through the lens of Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. The song was selected due to its rich symbolism and the profound philosophical messages conveyed through both its lyrical content and musical structure. The primary aim of this research is to uncover how Led Zeppelin constructs and conveys their artistic identity through symbolic elements that engage with themes of spirituality, existentialism, and critiques of materialistic culture. Employing a qualitative research method with a descriptive-interpretative design, this study draws data from official lyric documentation, musical references, and media archives. The analysis focuses on three layers of meaning in the lyrics: (1) denotation as literal meaning, (2) connotation as emotional and cultural significance, and (3) myth as an ideological narrative. The findings reveal that the symbol of the "stairway to heaven" functions as a critique of consumerism; the crossroads symbolize existential freedom; and natural imagery evokes a sense of spiritual connection to the natural world. Together, these symbols construct a modern myth that demonstrates how Led Zeppelin not only produced music but also engaged in cultural storytelling that is both philosophical and introspective. The song ultimately reflects the bands identity as an artistic entity that transcends entertainment, inviting listeners to contemplate lifes deeper meanings through metaphor and symbolic representation.

Bhabha, where the elements of Ubrug, Wayang Golek, and Rampak Bedug meet and influence each other as well as create new asthetics. The founders of Wayang Nganjor stated that these adaptation strategies are an effort to introduce the art tradition that is more relevant to society’s taste, especially the young generation. It is also an effort to foster awareness towards the local language of Banten and local values in Banten traditional arts. The impact of the research shows that this model of adaptation strategies effectively strengthens the cultural identity, modernizes the traditional performance without losing local identity, and exemplifies the practice model of cultural hybridization that is sustainable and contextual in the preservation of contemporary art.

Abstract

The process of learning the piano involves more than the acquisition of technical skills; it also encompasses theoretical understanding, aesthetic appreciation, and adaptation to individual learner needs. This literature review examines the assimilation of piano learning through the integration of technique, theory, and technology, synthesizing findings from ten recent academic studies. The analysis reveals that effective assimilation occurs across five key dimensions: (1) multidimensional integration of technical proficiency, theoretical knowledge, and artistic expression; (2) combination of multiple memory strategies, including aural, visual, kinesthetic, and analytical approaches; (3) adaptation of teaching methods for learners with special needs; (4) interdisciplinary collaboration between music pedagogy and related sciences such as biomechanics; and (5) incorporation of technological innovations, ranging from adaptive visualisation tools to passive haptic rehearsal devices. The findings highlight that assimilation in piano learning is a dynamic, creative, and adaptive process that bridges traditional pedagogy with modern advancements. This integrated approach not only enhances skill acquisition but also fosters a deeper, more sustainable engagement with music. Future research is recommended to explore how these dimensions can be optimized simultaneously to achieve more inclusive and effective piano learning outcomes.
