Abstract

Community Service Activities (PKM) were initiated in response to environmental problems in residential areas, including limited greening facilities and suboptimal household waste management, particularly inorganic waste with potential functional and economic value. The lack of public awareness and recycling skills has contributed to declining environmental quality and minimal green open spaces. This program aimed to enhance community awareness and participation in environmental preservation through the utilization of recycled waste as planting media and the application of simple technologies based on vertical gardens and hydroponics. Methods included preliminary surveys, stakeholder interviews, counseling, hands-on training, mentoring, and evaluation using community satisfaction questionnaires. The results indicated an improvement in community knowledge and skills in processing inorganic waste into useful products, such as plant pots made from used plastic bottles. Pilot installations of vertical gardens and hydroponic systems also improved environmental aesthetics and served as sustainable educational media. Evaluation results showed that out of 50 respondents, 82% strongly agreed and 18% agreed with the implementation of the program, with no negative responses recorded. This indicates that the program had a highly positive impact and was well received by the community. Overall, the program contributed to enhancing environmental awareness, social participation, and community self-reliance in creating a clean, green, and productive environment, with strong potential for sustainable replication.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the regions with a high level of natural disaster risk because it is geographically located between three major tectonic plates of the world. This condition makes Indonesia vulnerable to various types of disasters that occur almost every year in different regions, resulting in material losses and casualties. This study aims to compare the performance of two clustering algorithms, namely K-Means and K-Medoids, in grouping provinces in Indonesia based on their level of vulnerability to natural disasters, evaluated using the Davies–Bouldin Index (DBI). The analysis results show that the K-Means algorithm provides the best performance with a DBI value of 0.3932 at K = 3, forming three main categories: provinces with low to moderate vulnerability (35 provinces), high vulnerability (2 provinces), and very high vulnerability (1 province). Meanwhile, the K-Medoids algorithm produces the lowest DBI value of 0.5860 at K = 2, which divides provinces into two major groups of disaster risk levels. Based on this comparison, K-Means is considered more effective for mapping disaster vulnerability levels in Indonesia because it is able to represent risk patterns in greater detail. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for relevant agencies in formulating mitigation strategies and determining priority handling for regions with high disaster risk.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to determine the most optimal decision support system method and decision alternatives in the Accounting and Management study program, University of X which has experienced a decrease in learning interest or demotivation so that the study program can take special care for these students to continue studying. The methods used in this study are the SAW and TOPSIS methods with the criteria of GPA, time of study, parents' income, and distance from home. The test results show that the SAW method has the highest preference value compared to the TOPSIS method of 0.992 so it is feasible to apply in the Accounting and Management study program, University X, Bogor City.
