Abstract

The low of price Acacia log is caused by coorperative operation betweenplantation forest with forest product industry in implementation on PermenhutP.29/2012. The aims of the study were to know: determinant factors and costproduction of Acacia mangium and Acacia crassicarpa plantation forest, the priceof A. mangium and A. crassicarpa log based by cost production, and the financialanalysis of plantation forest used the price log based on production cost ofplantation forest and actual price of log Acacia. Reasearch is conducted in AraraAbadi Company in Distric of Rasau Kuning and Pusaka. Data analysis is usedproduction cost of plantation forest at 3th and 4th rotation are land clearing, seedling, planting, weeding, harvesting, tansporting and potential stands. This dataused to find the price of Acacia log in industry. The actual price of Acacia inmarket was got from interview. Data analysis used the financial analysis byparameters Net Present Value, Benefit Cost Ratio, and Internal Rate of Return. The assumtion of study used interest rate (15%) and plantation forest bussines (5years). The result of study showed that the determinant factors are purchasementof seed, land potential, salary of planting, salary of over cultivate take, salary ofwood cut and cost carry to pile place of log and salary of cultivate KCa. Theproduction cost and the log price of A. crassicarpa plantation forest is higher thanA. mangium. The plantation forest is financially feasible but happenned todecrease to the next rotation. Keywords: plantation forest, analysis financial, Acacia mangium,Acacia crassicarpa

Abstract

Rattan is one of comodity timber forest product are used as raw material for the rattan industry. Now, the development of Indonesia rattan has experienced a business decline in industrial businesses including rattan in Rumbai district. A decrease in the availability of raw materials and human resources will directly affect to cost of production. It is necessary to do a case study on the analysis of the cost of production in UD. Dona Rotan Furniture. The purpose of this resources are to know about the tpe and source of raw materials, the types of refined products produced and feasibility through the production cost analysis. The result showed that the type of raw materials used are rattan manau (Calamus manau), rattan getah (Daemonorops angustifolida Mart), rattan dahanan (Korthalsia flagelaris Miq), rattan sega (Calamus caesius) and filtrit of sega’s type. Rattan manau devired from West Sumatera, while the others are devired from Gatherers around Riau area, Jambi and South Sumatera. The amount of refined product are 26 types. Minimalist guest chairs are the most expensive type at the price Rp4.000.000,00/set, while the lowest selling price is the panda hat that Rp10.000,00. Analysis R/C ratio indicates that the industri economically viable with point 1,171 and BEP point’industry is Rp409.028.120,00. Abstract

Charcoal briquettes is one type of eco friendly fuels that can be renewed. Briquettes can be made by utilizing waste of biomass, including mahang wood sawdust waste and cacao shells. Utilization of those wastes is to determine whether the wastes can be utilized as biomass energy to reduce the negative impacts of waste from forest products. This study aims to create and determine the characteristics of briquettes from mahang wood sawdust waste and cacao shells. This research used completely randomized design method which is consisted of three treatments and three replications. The results showed that mahang wood sawdust and cacao shells can be used as raw material for the manufacture of charcoal briquettes. The average results obtained moisture content about 24, 89%-29.33%. The average calorific value 4529.68 cal/gram-5064.32 cal/gram, treatment P2 and P3 have met the criteria of SNI. The average power calculation is the fuel of 0.22 gram/minute-0.26 gram/minute Keywords: Briquettes, biomass, alternative, mahang wood sawdust, cocoa                           shells

Abstract

This research is aimed to know the characteristic of essential oil produced from distillation process of pucuk merah leaves. The young leaves and old leaves of pucuk merah was distilled using distillation clevenger type. Then, it is done an observation of essential oil yield, the essential oil colour, essential oil scent and solubility in ethanol. The results showed that the yield of pucuk merah young leaves essential oil is much more than the pucuk merah old leaves essential oil which are each respectively 0,18% and 0,118%. The colour of essential oil from pucuk merah young leaves and old leaves pucuk merah is yellow. Then, the essential oil from pucuk merah leaves is soluble in ethanol PA at ratio 1:1. Furthermore, through panelists assessment it’s known the essential oil of young leaves has distinctive scent of pucuk merah than the essential oil of  pucuk merah old leaves. As 65% panelists said that the essential oil from pucuk merah young leaves has distinctive scent of pucuk merah, while the others 35% said that it doesn’t have.  For the  essential oil from the old leaves,  as 50% panelists said that the essential oil from pucuk merah old leaves has the distinctive scent of pucuk merah, while the others 50% panelists said that it doesn’t have.  Keywords: Pucuk merah, Syzygium campanulatum Korth., Essential oil

Abstract

Banana are plant that bear fruit only once in its life cycle. Farmer usually replace with a new banana plant to maximize land or planting cycle, without managing to take advantage of the waste. Peat soil is a slow process of decomposition, has a low pH (acid), the poor in a number of nutrient both macro and micro, so that the plant growth is inhibited by using the peat medium, it is necessary to look for an alternative method in order to get a good seedling medium. This study aimed to determine the best dosage for seedling growth Jabon (Anthocephalus cadamba Miq.). This study used a completely randomized design (CRD), consisting of 4 treatments and 10 replications. T0= without giving compost banana trunk; T1=125g/polybag; T2=250g/polybag; T3=375g/polybag. The result showed that administration of a dose of compost banana trunk 375g/polybag on peat medium was the best treatment in the observation parameters, height gain (4.80 cm), the increase in diameter (3.21 mm), seedling dry weight (23.25 g), the ratio ofthe root crown (2.44 g). Abstract

Companies must be able to regulate the allocation of factors of production to increase productivity and improve production. The aim of this research are : 1) to know calculation of steam production cost, 2) to know the most factors that influence the production of steam, 3) to know efficiency of steam production cost. Research location is at PT. Indah Kiat Pulp and Paper. The sample was taken from steam production cost on Januari 2010 until December 2010. Data was analyzed with doubled-linier regression analysis with Cobb-Douglas production function, analysis of the costs, analysis of factors affecting the production of steam production and analysis of efficiency. The result showed that 1) total cost of steam production per month is Rp2.864.159.747,64, 2) from the doubled-linier regression analysis is known only bark variable that significantly affected to the production of steam, 3) from the analysis of efficiency is obtained that the use of bark, diesel oil, and heavy oil is efficient for steam production, it was 283,3%. Abstract

Sumatra’s Elephant (Elephas maximus sumatranus) including one of the endangered animals and is the largest animal is still alive and could only be encountered on the island of Sumatra. Form of elephant population dynamics influenced food availability, water availability and mineral salts. The results showed that the sign of Sumatra’s Elephant often encountered in the area of plantations, secondary forests and shrubs. Estimates as many that 49 elephant dung and 2450 pellets with an area of 0.02 km² transect. Elephant population density as much as 0,966 head/0,02km2. Estimates of the total number of Sumatran Elephants using dung circumference measurement method (dung) Is estimated at about 20 head. Feed plants identified as many that 29 species of elephants consisting of 16 family. Plant seedlings elephants feed as many that 11 species and 18 herbaceous species. Plants that are found for levels of herbaceous Poaceae and Asteraceae tribe while the seedlings are found plants belonging to the family Myrtaceae, Moraceae, and Euphorbiaceae. Elephant feed production as much as 11,108 kg / ha. Elephant feed requirements with an approximate calculation of the number of elephants 0,48 head / ha requires feed 144 kg / ha.
