Abstract

Arboretum of Riau Universityis a habitat whom build a one connectionpotential habitat for wildlife and more organism. As a supporting tool that provides useful information for various purposes, booth in terms of education, social, economicand ecology. It is necessary to support the complete data by conducting research on the animals in the Arboretum of Riau University, especially mammals, to find out the large index of diversity and richness of mammals species contained in Arboretum of Riau University. This Research held on November 2016 until January 2017. Method used for this research is a line transectsmethod and trap.On research location obtained result isthere 9 of mammals from 6 family founded with 63 individual that founded. The index of species diversity in both dry line (1,93) and wet line (1,73) was moderate. Richness index varieties dry line  (1,97) wet line(1,80)  is low.Most of mammals on Arboretum of Riau University are animals living on forest floor  (teresterial), small flying mammals are met for while research only bats  and kind of living animals on canopy area crown and the middle of the canopy crown (arboreal).  Keywords: Mammals, Diversity, Arboretum

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the application of area stability criteria of Protected Forest Management Unit (PFMU) of Unit XIV Toba Samosir and to find out the factors that influence the performance of PFMU Unit XIV Toba Samosir in area stabilization. This study was used criteria and indicator from Forest Watch Indonesia version 1.0. Data collection was done through documentation studies, field observations and in depth interviews. Data analysis was done by giving an assessment of each quality element of each indicator. The results showed that the average of assessed criterias was 2,166 which was in sufficient range, which means PFMU Unit XIV Toba Samosir was quite good at carrying out its functions as a forest management unit at the site level. The factors that influence the development performance of PFMU Unit XIV Toba Samosir in area stabilization was forest land tenure conflict with the community around the PFMU Unit XIV Toba Samosir area which caused the absence of boundary arrangements throughout the perimeter of the forest area, human resources that were inadequate in conflicts resolution and the implementation of socialization to the community, and management funds are still limited. Keywords: application, area stability, criteria, KPHL

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui potensi pengembangan nipah di KabupatenIndragiri Hilir. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Potensi nipah di kabupaten Indragiri Hilirsangat besar baik potensi batang, malai, buah dan tangkai daun. Masyarakat Indragiri Hilir telahmemanfaatkan hutan nipah secara tradisonal dan memiliki peluang untuk menjadi sumberpendapatan. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa Hutan nipah dapat dikembangkan menjadipenggerak pembangunan wilayah di Inhil karena memiliki keunggulan potensi, sumberdaya manusiadan pasar.

Abstract

Abstrak :Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi dan jenis starter yang terbaik dalampengolahan minyak kelapa secara fermentasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan AcakLengkap non faktorial dengan enam perlakuan dan tiga kali ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkanbahwa penggunaan starter ragi roti dengan dosis 50 ml/300 ml memenuhi standar mutu minyakkelapa dimana rendemen yang dihasilkan 68,36%, kadar air 0,01%, bilangan peroksida 0,56mg/g dan asam lemak bebas 0,16%. Warna minyak kelapa yang dihasilkan bening dan berbauharum.

Abstract

Saat ini keberadaan kayu jenis meranti merah, kulim dan mersawa sebagai bahan baku pembuat jalur  di Kabupaten Kuansing Provinsi Riau semakin langka, sedangkan kebutuhan kayu sebagai bahan pembuat jalur semakin tinggi. Oleh sebab itu diperlukan pemilihan jenis kayu alternatif yang memiliki persamaan sifat kuat dan awet dengan kayu jenis meranti merah, kulim, dan mersawa agar dapat memenuhi spesifikasi pembuatan jalur. Penelitian ini bertujuan mempelajari efektivitas pengawetan kayu balam dengan teknik infus dan bandage terhadap rayap kayu kering. Balam (Macaranga conifera Muell. Agr.) dipilih sebagai kayu alternatif untuk membuat jalur karena saat ini masih banyak ditemukan namun belum banyak dipakai untuk pembuatan jalur. Hasil pengamatan di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa jalur yang disimpan di darat mendapatkan serangan rayap kayu kering, sehingga diperlukan pengawetan jalur agar tidak terserang organisme perusak kayu (OPK) khususnya rayap kayu kering.  Pengawetan pohon berdiri dengan senyawa boron komplek dengan teknik infus dan bandage dipilih untuk meningkatkan kelas keawetan kayu balam. Pengujian ketahanan kayu terhadap serangan rayap kayu kering dilakukan sesuai metode SNI 7207-2014. Data diolah dengan menggunakan rancangan faktorial acak lengkap. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pengawetan dengan teknik infus dan bandage berbeda nyata terhadap pengurangan berat dan mortalitas rayap. Pengamatan derajat serangan secara visual pada kontrol dan teknik infus  yaitu 40 (tahan) yang nilainya lebih rendah dibandingkan teknik bandage 70 (sedang). Mortalitas pada teknik infus lebih tertinggi yaitu 90,67% dibandingkan kontrol 86,08% dan bandage 61,75%. Teknik pengawetan dengan teknik infus menunjukkan kandungan boron yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan teknik bandage.

Abstract

Sago plant (Hfetroxylon sp), is one of potential |riant producing of carbohydrate in Indonesia includingthe province of Riau. Sago starch (sago) is pith extract of sago stem. To obtain a high qualit}' of sago starchneed to do modified starches. Modified starches can be done with physical treatment, such as by heating at acertain water (Heat Moisture Tk^eatment/HMT). This study aims to determine the quality and the pastingprofile of sago with and without HMT from Inderagiri Hilir district and Bengkalis, Riau province. Thisresearch was used Completely Randomized Design (RAL), which consisting 4 treatments, each treatmentperformed three repetitions and obuined 12 units experiment. The treatments were: Bengkalis Non HMTtreatment (BN), non-treatment of HMT Inderi^iri HiHr (IN), Bengkalis with HMT treatment (BP), IndragiriHilir with HMT treatment (IF). Chemical analysis carried out on the moisture content, ash content, pHmeasurements, and starch pasting profile. The results showed that HMT affect the moisture content, ashcontent and crude fiber content of sago, and do not affect the pH as well as pasting profiles of sago.

Abstract

The demand of Indonesia for wheat flour is predicted to increase by at least 6% every year. Meanwhile,Indonesia especially Riau Province has many kinds of food recourse viz. sago starch. The objective of thisstudy was to find out the best formulation in production of sweet bread made from wheat flour substitutedwith sago flour. Experimental study was conducted in Completely Randomized Design with six treatmentsand each treatment was done in three replications. Parameters observed were the contents of moisture, ash,and starch as well as leavening power, self life and organoleptic assessment of sweet bread. The dataobtained were analyzed by ANOVA and was continued with DNMRT test at 5% level. The organoleptic datawere analyzed by Friedman Test and data of gelatinous filament, flavor and rancidity were presented bydescriptive analysis. Results showed that substitution of wheat flour with sago starch significantly influencedmoisture and starch contents, leavening power and the organoleptic properties of sweet bread. However,substitution of sago starch did not affect ash content of sweet bread. In general, substitution up to 50% ofsago starch had met the Indonesian quality standard of sweet bread (SNI 01-3840-1995) except for lowleavening power. In addition, the self life of sweet bread in the treatment TM5 (wheat flour 50% and 50%sago starch) was similar to that of commercial sweet bread.Key words: sweet bread, sago starch, quality, self life

Abstract

This research aimed to I o the level of influence in addition of different sugar level to quality olmwchemicci characteristics (water rate, pH and sucrose), and storage level of dry sweetened red dragon fruitThis research was conducted hi Laboratory ofAnalysis and Processhig Laboratory of Rhiu University, Facult>of Agriculture. TUs reseacb used Randomized Group Design (RAK) of non factorial with added sugar asfoBow: Gl =«200 g, G2-4Mg, G3-«00 g, G4=800 g, and G5-1000 g. The best treatment result is GS with waterconcentrate of 18,50%, sucrose concentrate of29,45%, pH of 3,94 and 21 day storage and it received thebest consumer acceptance for dry sweetened red dragon fruit lor taste, texture, and colour.

Abstract

Pineapple fruit flesh has higher economic value than the pineapple skin. Therefore the use of pineapple skin in making products such as syrup will increase its economic value. This study aimed to determine pH, total dissolved solid and panelist aceptance of the syrup from pineapple fruit flesh and skin. This study consisted of 5 combinations as follow: K0 (100% pineapple flesh), K1 (25% pineapple skin + 75% pineapple flesh), K2 (50% pineapple skin+50% pineapple flesh), K3 (75% pineapple skin + 25% pineapple skin), K4 (100 pineapple skin). The experiment was conducted in completely randomized design with 3 replications.  Parameter observed were pH, total the pH value of the syrup was not significantly different between all treatment, while total dissolved solid of syrup from pineapple flesh and skim produced was significantly differen. Syrup from up to 75% pineapple skin was still acceptable by the panelists for taste, colour, aroma and overall acceptance.
