Abstract

The success of the learning process is largely determined by the learning atmosphere created by the teacher. The absence of concrete learning media in instruction can influence students' low reading ability. The research goal was to determine the implementation of the SAS method using flash card media to improve the beginning reading ability of second-grade students at SDN 1 Tinigi. This research is a type of Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research action was carried out in two cycles. Data collection techniques included tests, observation, and documentation. The research results show that the initial data on students' beginning reading ability based on the Cycle I test was that 52% of students reached the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM), and there was a further increase in the Cycle II test implementation, showing that 96% of students reached the KKM. This serves as proof that the Implementation of the SAS Method Using Flash Card Learning Media can improve Students' Beginning Reading Ability

Abstract

Children's temperament and intellectual foundations are greatly influenced by their elementary school experience.  Learning styles at home and at school are complimentary components of the educational process.  Examining the important connection between home and school learning styles and how they impact kids' academic achievement is the goal of this study.  At SD Negeri 3 Lalos, the study was carried out utilizing a quantitative methodology and a correlational technique.  Students in grades IV, V, and VI as well as their parents made up the population.  A closed-ended questionnaire with a Likert scale was used to gather data.  The findings indicated a strong relationship between learning styles at home and at school. Pupils who consistently received parental guidance and assistance at home were more likely to improve their study habits and perform better academically in school.  Thus, in order to assist adolescents' academic performance, parental participation and the continuity of learning techniques between home and school are essential. ABSTRAKPendidikan dasar merupakan fase penting dalam mengembangkan landasan akademis dan karakter anak. Pembelajaran di rumah dan di sekolah merupakan dua komponen terpenting dan paling signifikan dari proses pendidikan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan yang signifikan antara pembelajaran di rumah dan di sekolah terhadap prestasi akademik siswa SD. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SD Negeri 3 Lalos dengan menggunakan metode pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV, V, dan VI serta siswa lainnya. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan kuesioner skala likert. Temuan analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara pembelajaran di rumah dan di sekolah. Siswa yang menerima dukungan belajar dari teman sebayanya di rumah secara konsisten memiliki hasil belajar yang lebih baik dan prestasi akademik yang lebih tinggi di sekolah. Dengan demikian, keterlibatan dan keselarasan metode pembelajaran antara rumah dan sekolah merupakan faktor penting dalam menentukan keberhasilan pembelajaran siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the critical thinking skills of fifth-grade students of SDN 6 Tambun in the subject of Natural Sciences through the application of the Snowball Throwing Cooperative learning model based on Word Wall media. This study uses a quantitative approach with a True Experimental Design in the form of pretest-posttest only. The subjects of the study consisted of 13 students who were given treatment during three meetings with different Natural Sciences topics. The instruments used included a critical thinking skills test (based on the FRISCO indicator), observation sheets, and Student Worksheets (LKPD). The results showed an increase in the average score from the pretest of 76.62 to 87.08 in the posttest. The results of the Paired Sample T-Test showed a significant value of 0.000 <0.05, which means there is a significant effect of the learning model on improving students' critical thinking skills. Thus, the application of the Snowball Throwing Cooperative model based on Word Wall media is proven to be effective in improving students' critical thinking skills in Natural Sciences learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menyoroti permasalahan dalam meningkatkan keterampilan kolaborasi siswa pada mata pelajaran IPAS. Untuk mengatasi hal ini, penelitian bertujuan mendeskripsikan penerapan dan peningkatan keterampilan kolaborasi siswa setelah model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD (Student Teams Achievement Divisions) diterapkan melalui pendekatan kontekstual. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimental. Data dikumpulkan melalui pretest, posttest, lembar observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasilnya menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan pada skor siswa. Skor terendah naik dari 38 menjadi 75, dan skor tertinggi meningkat dari 69 menjadi 100. Analisis statistik menggunakan paired t-test juga mengonfirmasi adanya peningkatan yang signifikan pada keterampilan kolaborasi siswa di kelas eksperimen. Temuan ini membuktikan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dengan pendekatan kontekstual efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan kolaborasi siswa, memberikan solusi yang teruji untuk masalah yang diteliti.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation and influence of the Discovery Learning model on the development of leadership character among fourth-grade students at SDN 2 Bajugan. The research employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design. The subjects consisted of class IV A students as the experimental group, who were taught using the Discovery Learning model, and class IV B students as the control group, who received conventional learning. Data were collected through observation, field notes, and pre-test and post-test assessments to measure leadership character. The findings indicated that the application of Discovery Learning in the experimental class did not produce statistically significant effects on students’ leadership character. However, the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test results showed p-values of 0.006 in the control group and 0.005 in the experimental group, both lower than 0.05, indicating significant differences between pre-test and post-test scores in both groups. The improvement in leadership character was greater in the experimental group than in the control group. In the experimental class, 15 out of 18 students showed progress, with a higher mean rank (10.03) compared to the control group (9.57). The absolute Z value in the experimental group (-2.834) was also higher than in the control group (-2.727), suggesting a stronger effect. In conclusion, the Discovery Learning model can effectively foster leadership character when designed with activities that encourage students’ active participation. This discovery-based learning process provides opportunities for students to take initiative, develop responsibility, and practice decision-making.

Abstract

Padila Zikrila A. Datuamas D20040040. Analysis of Teacher Strategies in Improving Students’ Visual Literacy Culture at SDN 3 Lakatan. (Supervised by Hasia Marto and Mustakim) The problems in this research are: (1) What strategies are applied by teachers to improve the visual literacy culture of students at SDN 3 Lakatan? and (2) What are the inhibiting factors faced by teachers in enhancing students’ visual literacy culture at SDN 3 Lakatan? The purpose of this study is to identify the strategies used by teachers and the obstacles they encounter in fostering students’ visual literacy culture at SDN 3 Lakatan. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the strategies applied by teachers include experiential learning, direct instruction, indirect instruction, interactive learning, and independent learning. The inhibiting factors consist of limited facilities, time management and classroom control issues, as well as students’ difficulties in understanding the material explained by teachers. In conclusion, teachers utilize appropriate learning tools aligned with the material after analyzing students’ needs prior to teaching. This allows teachers to measure students’ progress in achieving the competencies set in the learning process. The initial step taken by teachers is providing story media or books related to the Independent Curriculum, followed by allocating 10–15 minutes for students to engage in literacy activities.

Abstract

The Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) is a standard used to assess students’ competency achievement in elementary schools in Indonesia and serves as an important indicator of learning success. However, many students still have difficulties meeting this standard, thus requiring a data-driven early detection strategy to support timely intervention. This study aims to develop a prediction model for students’ KKM achievement based on internal and external factors using a supervised machine learning approach. Internal data include report card scores and attendance, while external data are obtained from student responses and parental information covering environmental, economic, motivational, and family support aspects. Four machine learning algorithms were evaluated, namely Naïve Bayes, K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Neural Network, using a confusion matrix. Experiments were conducted under four data preprocessing scenarios: reverse scoring, feature selection, normalization, and variable grouping. The best result was obtained in Scenario S3, which combines normalization and feature selection, using the SVM algorithm with 100% accuracy. However, to avoid potential overfitting, a more stable algorithm is recommended, namely Naïve Bayes, which achieved 93% accuracy. These results indicate that the application of machine learning with appropriate preprocessing is effective for identifying students at risk of not achieving the KKM.

Abstract

Student motivation and engagement are important aspects in supporting the success of the learning process. Learning methods and media are also key components in successful learning. The problem is the low level of student motivation and engagement in learning at SDN 26 Tolitoli in IPAS learning. To overcome this problem, the researcher conducted a study by applying interactive multimedia infographics. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of interactive multimedia infographics on student motivation and engagement in IPAS learning at SDN 26 Tolitoli. This study used a quantitative pre-experimental approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The instruments used were observation sheets and questionnaires with a sample size of 22 fourth-grade students at SDN 26 Tolitoli, using purposive sampling. The data analysis techniques used were the Paired sample t-test and the N-Gain test. The results of the Paired Sample t-test and reinforced by the N-Gain test showed that the sig value was 0.000 < 0.05 for motivation, while the involvement sig value was 0.001 < 0.05, meaning that it was significantly different even though it was in the low category. It can be concluded that the use of interactive infographic multimedia has an effect on student motivation and learning involvement.

Abstract

Disharmonious family conditions are often a factor hindering students' learning success at school. This study aims to analyze the learning challenges experienced by elementary school students from broken homes and the mentoring strategies implemented by homeroom teachers and principals. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study method at SDN 08 Biau, Buol Regency, with a student from a broken home, the homeroom teacher, and the principal as subjects. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that students from broken homes face challenges such as decreased learning motivation, difficulty concentrating, emotional instability, and vulnerability to peer teasing. Lack of parental support and unfavorable home conditions also impact students' academic development. The strategies implemented include individual guidance, adjusted evaluations, motivation, study groups, and supporting activities such as watching educational films together. This mentoring has been proven to help increase students' enthusiasm for learning, participation, and self-confidence. This research is expected to serve as a reference for teachers and schools in designing learning strategies that are friendly to students from broken homes.

Abstract

This study aims to describe teachers’ strategies in managing student conflicts through an interpersonal conflict management approach and to identify the challenges and obstacles teachers face in its implementation at SD Negeri 3 Lakatan. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method. The subjects were fifth-grade teachers, while the object of the study was the strategies used by teachers to manage interpersonal conflicts among students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that teachers applied various interpersonal conflict management strategies, including collaborative, accommodating, compromising, competing, and avoiding approaches. The collaborative strategy was the most dominant and effective, as it fostered empathy, mutual respect, and fairness among students. These strategies not only helped resolve conflicts but also instilled important character values such as honesty, responsibility, and discipline. The main challenge faced by teachers was encouraging students to be honest and open, while external obstacles included unsupportive social environments, limited parental involvement, and time constraints.Therefore, the success of teachers’ strategies in managing student conflicts can be optimized through synergy between schools, families, and the community. This study is expected to serve as a reference for teachers and future researchers in developing effective conflict management strategies in elementary school settings.
