Abstract

Dragonflies (Odonata) are bioindicators of environmental quality that are sensitive to changes in habitat conditions. This research aimed to analyze the dragonfly species found in the Kerandangan Nature Tourism Park, analyze their distribution patterns, and determine their diversity level. The research was conducted in three observation blocks, namely utilization, rehabilitation, and protection blocks. Sampling in this study was conducted using the line transect method with direct field observation. Distribution patterns were analyzed using the dispersion index, while diversity was measured using the Shannon–Wiener index (H’). The results showed that 18 dragonfly species belonging to 8 families were identified. The distribution patterns of dragonflies, both overall and within each block, tended to be clumped. The dragonfly diversity index (H’) in the Kerandangan Nature Tourism Park was 2.12, indicating that the ecosystem is relatively stable. In addition, damselflies (Zygoptera) were only found in the utilization block, which has water sources, and were absent in the rehabilitation and protection blocks. This finding suggests that abiotic and biotic environmental factors influence the presence and distribution of dragonflies in the study area. This research is expected to contribute scientific information to support enviromental management and conservation efforts in the Kerandangan Nature Tourism Park.

Abstract

Field practicum skills are a cornerstone of the professional competence of prospective biology teachers, yet their long-term developmental dynamics remain underexplored. This study aims to map the profile of field practicum abilities among Biology Education students at the Mataram University over a five-year period (2020-2024). Using a longitudinal quantitative approach, data were collected from 120 students through a structured, expert-validated questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and the non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis and Dunn's tests. The results indicate significant fluctuations in competency achievement: the highest average was in 2022 (79.28; SD=3.13) and the lowest in 2023 (65.93; SD=0.78). The Kruskal-Wallis test confirmed significant differences between years (χ² = 80.67; p < 0.05), with specific year pairs (e.g., 2022 vs. 2023) showing marked disparities. These findings reveal that field practicum ability is highly susceptible to curricular factors, institutional policies, and external disruptions such as extreme weather. The implication is that the development of prospective science teachers requires a learning ecosystem that is adaptive, evidence-based, and capable of proactively responding to environmental uncertainty.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the character values of fourth-grade students at SDN 1 Nyiur Tebel, Sukamulia District, East Lombok Regency. This study employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest model. The research subjects consisted of 30 fourth-grade students selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and observations using a character values questionnaire consisting of 20 valid and reliable statement items. The data were analyzed using descriptive percentage analysis, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, and the Paired Sample T-Test with the assistance of IBM SPSS version 31. The results showed that the average score of students’ character values increased from 57.20 in the pretest to 63.83 in the posttest. The normality test results indicated that both pretest and posttest data were normally distributed, with significance values of 0.092 and 0.068 (> 0.05), respectively. The hypothesis test using the Paired Sample T-Test revealed a t-value of -6.854 with a significance value of < 0.001, indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. Improvements in character values were observed in the indicators of environmental care, responsibility, honesty, discipline, friendliness/communicativeness, curiosity, democracy, and independence. Observation results also showed positive behavioral development among students during the IPAS learning process. In conclusion, learning activities carried out consistently and systematically contributed positively to improving the character values of fourth-grade students at SDN 1 Nyiur Tebel. The findings of this study imply that IPAS learning can be used as an effective strategy to strengthen character education in elementary schools and assist teachers in integrating character values into classroom learning activities.

Abstract

Lombok Island harbours a rich butterfly fauna that plays a vital ecological role as pollinators and bioindicators of ecosystem health. This study investigated butterfly species diversity in the paddy field area of Paokmotong Village, East Lombok Regency, using an exploratory survey method across five observation zones: the northern, southern, eastern, and western field edges, and the central field transect. A total of 49 individuals belonging to eight species from three families (Pieridae, Hesperiidae, and Nymphalidae) were recorded. Eurema blanda and Leptosia nina (both Pieridae) were the most abundant species, while Nymphalidae exhibited the highest species richness with five species. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H') was calculated at 1.898, indicating moderate diversity. This value reflects a relatively stable habitat condition in terms of food availability, temperature, humidity, wind speed, and light intensity. The moderate diversity level suggests that, while the paddy field ecosystem of Paokmotong provides a reasonably supportive habitat for butterflies, environmental pressures such as pesticide use and low plant diversity may be limiting species richness. Conservation of wild flowering vegetation along field margins is recommended to sustain and enhance butterfly diversity in this agricultural landscape.
