Abstract

Physical education plays a crucial role in fostering students’ motor, cognitive, and social development at the elementary school level. In volleyball learning, underhand passing is a fundamental skill; however, many students experience difficulties due to conventional drill-based instruction that emphasizes repetition rather than conceptual understanding. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of implementing the Deep Learning model in improving underhand passing skills among sixth-grade students at Elementary School Cikeusik Rancakalong. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the Kemmis and McTaggart spiral model, consisting of three cycles: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were 33 sixth-grade students. Data were collected through underhand passing skill tests and structured observation sheets, then analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis to determine the percentage of learning completeness in each cycle. The findings indicated a consistent and significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes. Learning completeness increased from 12.1% in the pre-cycle to 39.4% in Cycle I, 72.7% in Cycle II, and ultimately reached 90.9% in Cycle III, surpassing the predetermined classical mastery criterion. The results demonstrate that the Deep Learning model not only enhances technical execution but also strengthens students’ conceptual understanding, reflective thinking, and motor awareness. Students became more capable of identifying movement errors and adjusting body positioning effectively. In conclusion, the Deep Learning model provides a structured, student-centered, and reflective instructional approach that effectively improves underhand passing skills and contributes to the development of innovative and meaningful physical education practices in elementary schools.

Abstract

Student involvement in campus organizations plays an important role in developing leadership, social skills, and academic experience; However, intensive organizational engagement may reduce students' attention to maintaining physical health. Limited physical activity among students has become a growing concern, particularly when organizational responsibilities compete with time for exercise. Based on this background, this study aims to examine the relationship between students' organizational involvement and their motivation for physical activity at the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Sumedang Regional Campus. The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The population consisted of 592 students from six student organizations, and 247 respondents were selected through proportional random sampling using the Slovin formula. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, normality testing, and Spearman's Rank correlation analysis due to non-normal data distribution. The findings revealed a significant relationship between organizational involvement and motivation for physical activity (Sig. = 0.001 < 0.05), with a correlation coefficient of 0.210, indicating a low level of correlation. The coefficient of determination (4.4%) shows that organizational involvement contributes only a small proportion to students' motivation for physical activity. In conclusion, although a statistically significant relationship exists, organizational involvement does not substantially influence exercise motivation. Therefore, integrating active lifestyle programs into student organizations is recommended to support holistic student development.

Abstract

Low learning interest and sub optimal mastery of basic volleyball movement skills remain a recurring problem in Physical Education learning at elementary schools. In response to this challenge, this study aims to analyze the impact of digital interactive learning video presentations on increasing both learning interest and basic volleyball movement skills. More specifically, this skill evaluation includes the forearm pass, overhead pass, underhand serve, overhand serve, and spike techniques among grade five students at Rancakalong Elementary School. To achieve that goal, this quantitative study applied a preexperimental design through a one group pretest and posttest approach involving 20 students. Furthermore, the data collection process relied on a Likert scale learning interest questionnaire with a reliability value of 0.87 and a five-component performance test with a reliability value of 0.92 which was converted into a scale of zero to one hundred. After all data were collected, a comprehensive statistical analysis was conducted which included the Shapiro Wilk normality test, paired sample t test, Cohen d effect size calculation, and normalized N Gain analysis. As a result, the test proved a highly convincing increase in the learning interest domain with a t value of 53.18, an effect size of 11.89, and an N Gain score of 0.63. Not only that, but a similar positive impact was also recorded on the mastery of physical movement skills with a t value of 22.93, an effect size of 5.13, and an N Gain score of 0.38. Overall, both of these improvement achievements simultaneously occupied the moderate category. Ultimately, this series of findings further reinforces the importance of integrating interactive visual tools as an effective breakthrough in optimizing the quality of sports education at the elementary school age.

Abstract

Motor coordination is an essential component of adolescent physical development; however, traditional sports extracurricular programs often employ repetitive and less structured training methods that limit optimal motor skill development. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of a game-based learning model in improving motor coordination among students participating in traditional sports extracurricular activities. The study used a one-group pretest-posttest design and a quasi-experimental methodology. Purposive sampling was used to choose 30 students between the ages of 15 and 17. Over the course of four weeks, observations, documentation, and motor coordination tests (hand-eye and foot-eye coordination) were used to gather data. Descriptive statistics and the paired sample t-test were used to analyze the data. The mean scores for hand-eye coordination and foot-eye coordination increased from 14,37 to 17,37 and 3,03 to 3,67, respectively, according to the data. The results of the hypothesis test indicate a significance level of 0,000 (p<0,05), which indicates a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test. In addition, the effect size indicates a large category for hand-eye coordination (d=0,88) and a medium category for foot-eye coordination (d=0,72). In conclusion, the game-based learning model can be used as a creative strategy in conventional sports extracurricular programs and is successful in enhancing students' motor coordination.

Abstract

Freestyle swimming speed is one of the main indicators of achievement of swimming athletes, especially in adolescent athletes who are still in the development stage of technical skills and physical condition. Mastery of basic techniques and arm muscle strength are important factors that can affect the effectiveness of movement and swimming speed, but they do not necessarily develop in a balanced manner in every athlete. This study aims to determine the relationship between mastery of basic techniques and arm muscle strength at freestyle swimming speed in adolescent athletes. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The research sample amounted to 20 adolescent athletes who were selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection was carried out through testing and measurement, namely assessment of basic techniques using observation sheets, measurement of arm muscle strength through physical tests, and measurement of swimming speed using a 50-meter swimming time. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics with the Spearman correlation test because some data were not distributed normally. The results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between mastery of basic techniques and arm muscle strength (r = 0.467; p < 0.05). In addition, arm muscle strength also had a positive and significant relationship with freestyle swimming speed (r = 0.450; p < 0.05). However, the relationship between mastery of basic technique and swimming speed showed a positive but not statistically significant relationship (r = 0.320; p > 0.05). These findings suggest that arm muscle strength has a more dominant role in increasing swimming speed than partial basic technique. The conclusion of this study is that freestyle swimming speed in adolescent athletes is influenced by a combination of mastery of basic technique and arm muscle strength. Therefore, an integrated and balanced training program between improved technique and muscle strength is indispensable to achieve optimal swimming performance.

Abstract

Endurance is an important component in physical fitness which is needed in futsal, because this game requires repetitive activities with varying intensities so that players must be able to maintain optimal performance. However, there are still many futsal extracurricular students who experience rapid fatigue and decreased performance, so effective training methods are needed to increase endurance. This study aims to analyzed the influence and difference in the effectiveness of interval training and circuit training in increasing the endurance of futsal extracurricular students at the junior high school level. The method used is quantitative with a quasi-experimental design through a two-group pretest-posttest approach, which involves two groups. The participants amounted to 22 male students aged 13-15 years from State Junior High School 1 Conggeang who were divided into two groups, each given interval training and circuit training for 12 meetings. The instrument used is a multistage fitness test (bleep test) to measure VO₂max as an indicator of cardiovascular endurance. Data analysis was carried out using the help of SPSS 27 through descriptive tests, normality tests, homogeneity tests, and t tests. The results showed that there was an increase in the average value of endurance in both groups, where the circuit training group increased from 35,845 to 38,645, while the interval training group increased from 36,082 to 39,000. The paired sample t-test showed that both exercise methods had a significant effect on increasing endurance (p < 0.05). However, the results of the independent samples t-test showed no significant difference between the two methods (p = 0.671 > 0.05). Thus, it can be concluded that interval training and circuit training are both effective in increasing endurance, but do not show significant differences in effectiveness. This study provides the implication that both training methods can be used flexibly in fostering students' physical fitness, especially in futsal extracurricular activities.

Abstract

The precise direction of a smash is an essential ability in badminton that must be cultivated from a young age. Nonetheless, numerous athletes aged 10 to 12 continue to experience difficulties with precise smash direction. Consequently, right-left smash workouts are essential for enhancing this skill. This study seeks to ascertain the baseline accuracy of athletes' smash direction abilities prior to the implementation of training interventions, hence establishing the fundamental skill level of the athletes. This study employs a quantitative technique utilising a pre-experimental design, especially a one-group pretest-posttest framework, to examine the effect of right-left smash training on smash direction accuracy in PB Sampoerna badminton competitors aged 10 to 12 years. The training occurred at PB. Sampoerna event in the North Sumedang District, Sumedang Regency, includes 20 participants aged 10 to 12 years, who were selected as research participants through a saturated sampling method. The research procedure includes initial measurements (pretest), providing treatment in the form of right-left smash. The results of the normality test show that the significance value (p-value) of the pretest data is 0.055, while the significance value of the posttest data is 0.569. Both significance scores exceed 0.05 (p > 0.05), indicating that the pretest and posttest data are regularly distributed. The statistical analysis of the paired sample t-test yielded a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000. This value is less than the designated significance level (α = 0.05). This indicates that the right-left smash drill training pattern has a significant effect. Systematic and repetitive practice has demonstrated enhancements in motor coordination, shot consistency, and shuttlecock directional control, leading to increased accuracy in smashes for athletes. The right-left smash training pattern is a useful technique for enhancing smash skills, especially directional precision, in young athletes.

Abstract

Top spin is an important technique in table tennis that requires targeted training with the right media, but the effectiveness of various training media such as robopong, spinwheel, and return board in improving top spin accuracy has not been studied much comparatively. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the influence provided by the media or training tools (robopong, spinwheel and return board) on improving the accuracy of top spin strokes in table tennis. The research method used in this study is Quasi-Experimental Design: Pretest–Posttest Nonequivalent Groups Design, where the sample will be divided into three groups by starting with pretest data collection then treatment in groups for 12 meetings and ending with a posttest. The sample consisted of 15 active members of the Table Tennis Student Activity Units  UPI Sumedang Campus, the sample selection was carried out using a purposive sampling technique which was then continued with a group division technique using the Matching-Only Design technique. The results of the study showed that there was a significant influence of the three media or training tools on improving the accuracy of top spin strokes in table tennis, however, the post-hoc test showed no significant difference between the three training media on improving the accuracy of top spin strokes in table tennis. So it can be concluded that the three training media have an effect on increasing the accuracy of top spin strokes in table tennis, but there is no significant difference. The three research groups have a relatively similar level in increasing the accuracy of top spin strokes, although the average for each group is different, but it is not enough to show significant effectiveness in influencing the accuracy of top spin in the sport of table tennis.

Abstract

The low shooting accuracy of female futsal players shows that the training program implemented has not been able to fully integrate aspects of physical condition and technical skills optimally, thus having an impact on the effectiveness of the final finish in game situations. This problem requires a more specific, structured, and contextual approach to training in accordance with the requirements of movement in futsal. This study aims to analyze the effect of the combination of resistance band and plyometric training on improving the shooting accuracy of female futsal players. The research method used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design in the form of a pretest-posttest design of one group to assess changes in abil- ity before and after treatment. The subjects were all female futsal players of Student Activity Unit of the University of Education Indonesia Sumedang which were de- termined through total sampling techniques. The research instrument used a target- based futsal shot accuracy test to objectively measure the level of shot accuracy. Data analysis was carried out through descriptive statistics to describe the initial and final conditions, as well as inferential statistics including normality tests, paired t-tests, and regression analyses to test the significance of differences and treatment contributions. The results of the study showed an increase in shooting accuracy after being given a training program, as indicated by an increase in the pretest average of 17.47 to 21.35 in the posttest, as well as a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05 so that the research hypothesis was accepted. These findings indicate that the combination of resistance bands and plyometric exercises is effective in improving shooting accuracy by improving movement control, stability, strength, and body coordination. Therefore, it can be concluded that this joint training program has a positive impact and contributes to the development of sports training science through a more integrated and applicable training approach.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low technical ability of elementary school students in volleyball underhand passing during extracurricular activities, caused by a lack of structured, repetitive, and innovative training. This study aims to analyze the effect of training using a modified hanging ball in the drill method on improving underhand passing ability. The method used was a quantitative one-group pretest-posttest preexperimental design. The subjects were 28 extracurricular students at Babakan Rancakalong Elementary School, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was an underhand passing skills test covering initial stance, execution, and final stance. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, the paired sample t-test, and the effect size test (Cohen's d). The results showed a significant increase in underhand passing ability, indicated by an increase in the average score from 19.17 (pretest) to 26.46 (posttest), with the minimum score increasing from 12 to 18 and the maximum score from 32 to 36. Normality testing indicated a normally distributed data (p > 0.05). A paired sample t-test obtained a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between before and after the treatment. The effect size of 3.64 indicated a very large effect. The conclusion of this study is that training using a modified hanging ball in the drill method effectively improves elementary school students' basic underhand passing skills and can be used as an alternative, innovative, systematic, and applicable learning method.
