Abstract

The lifetime of transformers and its equipments are highly dependent on the quality of insulation system.Insulation is one important component in a transformer because generally, insulations used liquid and solidinsulation in accordance with its function as an insulating material and cooling media. At the time there usedtransformer oil aging and damage caused by several things such as impurities, water content, dissolved gases(Dissolved Gas Analysis-DGA), acidity and heating the oil. Transformers loading will cause a decrease in thequality of the transformers insulation system that resulted in the decreasing age of insulating oil.This paper explained the influence of aging on the rate of degradation of Dissolved Gases of power transformersinsulating oil. This research was conducted using sample data loading and maintenance of transformers byobtained directly with investigations into the transformers which is operating. There are three method todetermine quality of oil transformer i.e. Total Combustible Gases (TCG), Roger Ratio, Key Gas and DuvalTriangle Methods.Based on analysis result by using samples from a variety of loading conditions of the transformers with differentlevels we can conclude the quality and worthiness of insulation oil and the estimated the effective remaining lifeof transformers insulation system.

Abstract

Recently, the transmission of electric energy has been developed by insulated cable. The suitable materialas an insulated cable is LLDPE and HDPE. In order to understand the quality of insulation system, themeasuring of PD has done. PD could begin completely insulation failure (breakdown). Therefore, it is veryimportant to understand the characteristic of PD and the enclose event on it, because PD is a main factorwhich caused insulation failure.This paper presents the result of PD measurement in the laboratory that used needle-plane electrode. Itwas supported by equipments such as osiloskop Digital GDS 2104 GW Instek, HPF, and RC detector.Polymer sample that used in this research is LLDPE (Linier Low Density Polyethylene) and HDPE with 20x 4 x 25 mm3 dimension in each. Needle was made by steel (length 50 mm and diameter 1.15 mm), it wasstick to the polymer material. The distance between needle to the plane is 5 mm. The applied voltage foreach sample was 16 kVrms, 18 kVrms, 20 kVrms and 22 kVrms. The Taking of PD data was done in thefirst minute, 10th minute, 20th and so on until 180th minute.The measurement result shows that the characteristic of PD number and maximum charge as a function oftime and as a function of applied voltage inclined increasing both on LLDPE and HDPE. But, PD intensityin HDPE is higher than LLDPE.

Abstract

The application of high voltage becomes more important and wider. High voltage is needed in the process of reducing air contaminants, waste treatment, sanitation, disinfecting microorganisms, testing for insulating high voltage equipment, and transmitting electrical energy. The problem of high voltage AC generation system is still in a large scale, static, not portable, and very expensive. This paper presents an analytical design of a high-voltage AC high-frequency based on power electronic. It is portable, less expensive, and eaasier to control the amplitudo and frequency. The application of the Full Bridge Bipolar Inverter topology with the Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation switching method provides variable sinusoidal AC voltage outputs (Vo) on its amplitude and frequency. The Tesla Coil Transformer amplifies the amplitude in accordance with the classification of the high voltage AC in the order of Kilo Volt. The Closed Loop control system in the Bipolar Inverter Full Bridge topology provides high accuracy results between the given setting values and the actual amplitude output and the expected high-frequency AC voltage. Analysis of the SPWM switching pattern parameter settings shows stability for several loading variations

Abstract

The tropical climate of Indonesia, which has moderately high rainfall, has an impact on the output of outdoor insulators. The presence of chemical particles, pollen, and salt in the air will bind to the insulating material's outer surface and settle, resulting in crystallization that allows the insulating material's surface roughness to increase. One of the insulators that are being produced is an insulator made of epoxy resin. The injection of fillers is used to further improve the durability of the outdoor epoxy resin insulators installed in tropical climatic conditions. Epoxy resin from bisphenol A-epichlorohydrin and polyaminoamide combined with silane, alumina, and SiO2 is used as research materials. The parameters examined were leakage current and resistance to insulation. The use of silane as a hardener will also improve the resistivity on the surface of the insulator, which makes it more difficult to flow or reduces the leakage current. Alumina is well-known for being a solid heat and voltage insulator. The addition of SiO2 to the epoxy resin insulating material increases the insulator's mechanical strength in the form of tensile and compressive strength. With fluctuations in temperature and humidity, the artificial tropical environment is replicated in a test chamber. The value of the leakage current increases with an increase in temperature and humidity. The correlation between air temperature and humidity and insulation resistance is inversely proportional, the higher the temperature applied to the insulator, the lower the insulator resistivity. The same refers to the relationship between air humidity and resistance to insulation. The higher the humidity applied to the insulator, the lower the insulator resistivity. At a test voltage of 11 kV, a humidity of 60%, and a temperature variation of 25oC, the leakage current of epoxy resin insulators is up to 9.2 uA lower than in a factory-made SiR insulator. The leakage current and insulator resistivity's number is already in the good and protected range such that the insulator can be used and reproduce.
