Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates corporate environmental accountability through the lens of stakeholder expectations and corporate practices. It seeks to understand the dynamics driving corporations to adopt sustainable practices and how these align with stakeholder demands. Research Design and Methodology: A qualitative case study design was employed to provide an in-depth understanding of the phenomena. The research involved semi-structured interviews with senior executives, sustainability managers, and stakeholders from various corporations. Data was analyzed using thematic analysis to identify critical patterns and themes. Findings and Discussion: The findings highlight the significant role of stakeholder pressure in shaping corporate environmental accountability. Stakeholders, including consumers, investors, and regulatory bodies, demand transparency and accountability, driving corporations to adopt more sustainable practices. Companies facing robust stakeholder scrutiny are more likely to engage in proactive environmental strategies, integrating sustainability into their core operations and leveraging stakeholder engagement to drive innovation. The study validates legitimacy, stakeholder, and stewardship theories, demonstrating the importance of aligning corporate practices with societal values and ethical leadership in fostering a culture of accountability. Implications: The research contributes to academic knowledge by integrating multiple theoretical frameworks to understand corporate environmental accountability. It offers actionable insights for corporate leaders to adopt proactive environmental strategies and for policymakers to create regulatory frameworks that encourage sustainable practices. The study’s limitations suggest avenues for future research, including expanding sample sizes and conducting longitudinal studies to examine the evolution of corporate environmental practices.

Abstract

MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) are the foundation of the Indonesian economy. Indonesia is unique in its economic system, namely an economic system that is based on economic democracy or people's economy. It can be interpreted that the Indonesian economic system has unique characteristics that differentiate it from the economic systems of other countries. MSMEs have a very important role in the economy in Banda Aceh City and MSMEs also absorb a lot of labor. The city of Banda Aceh also still has homework (homework), namely to reduce the poverty rate, the existence of MSMEs can be one solution in alleviating unemployment and poverty in the city of Banda Aceh. One of the MSME locations that is currently developing is in Gampong Lampulo, Kuta Alam District, Banda Aceh City, where local residents are starting to develop MSME businesses such as wooden fish processing businesses (Keumamah), spice processing, food processing, and several other businesses. As we all know, the existence of Gampong Lampulo, which is located on the coast, is a place where fishing boats dock and is also a place for fish auctions, so that fresh fish as a basic ingredient for public affairs is always available. Bookkeeping of financial transactions is one of the important tasks in carrying out or recording business transactions. This bookkeeping is often rarely carried out by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) because of limited information in the field of accounting and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) focus only on how to do marketing. The MUI Halal Certificate is a written fatwa from the Indonesian Ulema Council which states that a product is halal in accordance with Islamic law.  Keywords: Simple Bookkeeping, Halal Certification, MSMEs

Abstract

This study examines the internalization of religious moderation values among students at Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKI) and Public Higher Education Institutions (PTU) in South and West Sulawesi, Indonesia. Amid concerns over rising religious intolerance and extremism, higher education is increasingly seen as a strategic arena for fostering inclusive values. PTKI, by design, promotes moderate Islamic teachings, but comparative evidence between PTKI and PTU remains underexplored. Adopting a quantitative comparative approach, the study surveyed 400 students to measure their perceptions across four dimensions: national commitment, tolerance, anti-violence, and accommodation of local culture. Results show that PTKI students consistently score higher than their PTU counterparts across all dimensions. For example, PTKI students recorded a higher mean score in anti-violence (2.88) compared to PTU (2.53), and similar gaps are found in other areas. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of PTKI in shaping moderate and pluralistic religious identities through structured curricula and institutional culture. The study contributes to educational and socio-religious discourse by highlighting how religious education, when aligned with national values, can counter radicalism and promote social harmony. This study offers a novel comparative framework that integrates sociological da’wah and self-perception theory to empirically assess how institutional environments shape students’ internalization of religious moderation in higher education.
