Abstract

This paper examines the interjection of ômma in Acehnese language using a natural semantic metalanguage approach. The study employed a qualitative method using oral, written, and artificial data sources. Twelve qualified informants from three study locations, i.e., Aceh Besar, West Aceh, and South Aceh provided their consent to participate in this study. Meanwhile, written data were sourced from Acehnese books and previous studies, and the artificial data were used as complementary to oral and written data. The data analysis is presented using a distributional approach. In addition, the Natural Semantic Metalanguage (NSM) theory was also applied. The results show that the interjection of ômma in the Acehnese language expressed three semantic aspects, i.e., emotive, volitive, and cognitive. The emotive aspect includes expressions of amazement, surprise, and anger. In addition, the meanings of the interjection of ômma are highly dependent on the text and the context of the sentence. A chuckle of amazement, pleasant facial expression, hand-clap, head-shake, or thumbs-up accompanies the interjection of ômma expressing amazement. The interjection of ômma that expresses anger is accompanied by a sour facial expression, such as frowns and lip-biting, as well as a high intonation voice. In expressing a feeling of surprise, the interjection of ômma is accompanied by a voice that indicates joy and a happy facial expression. Meanwhile, the interjection of ômma expressing volition is accompanied by limb movements, either using hands, mouth, or face. The interjection of ômma that expresses the cognitive aspect is followed by movements or pats on the forehead or legs.

Data analysis was carried out in the form of content analysis following steps (1) reading/studying the story of "Cerita Tak Berujung" in detail, (2) determining the part of the text of the story that contains suspense and surprise referring to the results of theoretical studies and relevant research findings regarding these two things, (3 ) determine the moral values contained in the story which are stated implicitly refer to the theory of values in literary works, (4) describe the data from the analysis, and (5) draw conclusions from the results of the analysis. Abstract

This study aims to identify, classify, and analyze emotive interjections expressing 'admiration' in the Acehnese language using the Natural Semantic Metalanguage (NSM) approach. The method applied is descriptive qualitative with verbal data containing interjections. The research data source was obtained from the daily conversations of the Acehnese people in four regions, namely Aceh Besar, North Aceh, East Aceh, and West-South Aceh. Each region was represented by 3 informants who met the criteria, such as speaking Acehnese as their mother tongue, aged between 30 and 50 years, and were willing to become informants. The techniques of collecting the data include observation, recording and recording. Data analysis was carried out in several steps, namely data identification and inventory, classification and data analysis based on categories and meaning of emotive interjections. The research results show that emotive interjections in Acehnese include alahuwe, ômmi, ômma, ômman, ômmen, ômma ôi, bak budik, bak budôk, alah mak ôi, lahwa ôi, ie eh ek, ek, ôku, ôdu, and bah. These interjections can be grouped into several emotive subcategories based on their semantic components: 1) 'I feel that something good has happened,' 2) 'I feel that something good will happen,' and 3) 'I feel that something like this is impossible.' Each subcategory has specific meaning characteristics and usage within the cultural and linguistic context of Aceh. This research contributes significantly to a more comprehensive understanding of the Acehnese language, particularly regarding the semantics of emotive interjections, and may serve as a foundation for further studies on interjections in other regional languages in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines politeness and impoliteness in Acehnese speech variations conveyed through various linguistic features, including honorifics, politeness markers, and respectful forms of address. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method, commencing with observation in different social settings in Acehnese society to identify instances of polite and impolite speech. The data for this study consists of oral data obtained from 13 informants residing in North Aceh, Aceh Pidie, Aceh Besar, and South West Aceh. Data were collected using direct observation techniques and free recall techniques. To ensure well-documented data collection, the researcher recorded the data in manual notes and electronic recordings. Data analysis was conducted using contextual methods. The results demonstrate that in Acehnese language, the politeness and grammaticality of an utterance are highly dependent on the region of use or dialect. Generally, in Acehnese, language is considered polite if the utterance uses proclitics corresponding to the actor in a sentence. However, in the South West Aceh dialect, this rule does not apply. In this dialect, language politeness does not rely on the regular use of proclitics. Proclitics are usually not used in speech and should be attached to the verb, given in the repetition of the subject as the doer of the action. Additionally, politeness in this language is highly dependent on pronouns. Conversely, the rules for using honorific pronouns in other dialects do not measure politeness and grammaticality.

Abstract

Indonesia's shift from Curriculum 2013 to the Merdeka Curriculum has introduced significant challenges in biology education, particularly in formulating competency-based learning objectives. This study analyzes professional misconceptions in learning objectives using qualitative content analysis of eight curriculum documents—lesson plans and teaching modules—focused on "Environmental Change" from three provinces (Aceh, North Sumatra, Bangka Belitung). Contributors included senior teachers, junior teachers, and pre-service teachers under mentor guidance. Using Webb's curriculum alignment methodology and Bloom's revised taxonomy, we identified three misconception categories. Structural misconceptions showed 75% of documents retained outdated behavioral formats misaligned with competency-based paradigm. Semantic misconceptions demonstrated mean cognitive level drop of 2.1 levels from expected C6 to observed C1–C3 objectives. Pragmatic misconceptions revealed 62.5% used low-validity, recall-based assessments. These consistent patterns across regions and teacher experience levels suggest systemic rather than contextual issues. Professional misconceptions mirror student cognition patterns, characterized by structural coherence and resistance to surface-level correction. Addressing these requires explicit conceptual change strategies, not mere technical training. This study offers a research-based framework to inform interventions for effective competency-based biology instruction adoption.
