Abstract

The present study investigated the supplementation of soursop leaves powder (Annona muricata L.) on body weight gain and carcass percentage of male Tegal duck. Research was conducted from 29 November 2015 to 3 January 2016 in duck cage in Sokaraja Kulon, Purwokerto. One hundred male Tegal duck were fed basal feed consisted of 30% corn, 7% soy bean meal, 6,1% vegetable oil, 17% poultry meat meal, 38,2% ricebran, 0,1% L-lysin HCL, 0,3% DL-methionin, 0,2% topmix, 0,1% NaCl, and 1% CaCO3. Experimental research used completely randomized design with treatments composed of basal feed plus 0, 5, 10, and 15% soursop leaves meal, each with 5 replicates. The observed variables were diameter of muscle fiber, lipid cell, body weight gain, and carcass percentage. The obtained data were subject to analysis of variance followed by orthogonal polynomial test. Result showed that treatments affected non significantly (P>0.05) to the diameter of chest muscle fiber, carcass percentage and carcass but significantly affected (P<0,05) body weight gain with equation Y  =  427,74  - 67,10 X  + 2,27 X2..  Conclusively, supplementation of soursop leaves meal (Annona muricata L.) in feed has not been able to increase the muscle fiber diameter of intermuscular lipid cell, carcass percentage and carcass parts. Excessive supplement even lowers the body weight gain of male Tegal duck.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the effect of breadfruit leaves flour in feed to blood profile and correlation between cholesterol, HDL and LDL of blood with meat cholesterol of maleTegal duck of 10 weeks old. The material used was Day Old Duck of male Tegal duck  as much as 120 heads with experimental research methods and Completely Randomized Design (CRD). There were 6 treatments: feed without breadfruit leaf powder, feed + breadfruit flour 3% / kg feed, feed + breadfruit flour 6% / kg feed, feed + breadfruit flour 9% / kg feed, feed + flour breadfruit 12% / kg feed, and feed + breadfruit flour 15% / kg feed. Each treatment was repeated 5 times and each replication consisted of 4 ducks. The variables observed were the number of red blood cells, white blood cells, HDL, LDL, blood triglycerides, correlation between cholesterol, HDL and LDL blood with meat cholesterol of male Tegal duck of 10 weeks old.  The result of the analysis showed that the supplementation of breadfruit leaves has significant effect (P <0,05) on the number of red blood cells, white blood cells, HDL, and blood triglyceride. There is a positive correlation between blood cholesterol with duck meat cholesterol which given breadfruit leaf powder. This research can be concluded that the supplementation of breadfruit leaf powder (Artocarpus altilis) can increase the number of red blood cells, white blood cells, blood HDL level but lowers blood cholesterol and triglyceride blood of male Tegal duck of 10 weeks old. Cholesterol meat is affected by blood cholesterol with regression coefficient of 0.780941, influenced by LDL (r = 0.407849), but negatively affected by HDL (r = -0.47022).

Abstract

The research aimed to study the effect of strain and altitude on broiler performance, and to find out suitable strains kept either on low and high altitude. Low altitude was in Purwonegoro North Purwokerto (80 m asl) and high altitude was in Munggangsari Baturaden (755 m asl). The research was carried out since September 5th to December 5th, 1996 using 2x3 Factorial based on Completely Randomized Design. Factor I were land altitude (d) : low (d1) and high (d2). Factor II were broiler strains (g) : CP-707 (g1), AS-101 (g2) and Lohmann (g3). Data obtained were analyzed using F test continued  to Least Significant Difference Test. The research indicated that interaction between altitude and strains significantly affected  feed convertion and income over feed  and doc cost, while strain had significant effect on feed convertion. AS-101 and Lohmann strains  kept on low altitude had the highest final weight. The low altitude gave better feed convertion and income over feed and doc cost, whereas CP-707 strain had the best feed convertion. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of avocado seed flour (ASF) supplementation in feed on blood lipids and quail egg yolk cholesterol. The materials were 100 female quails aged 4 weeks old with ration ingredients consist of corn, bran, paddy, soybean meal, fish flour, avocado seed flour, palm oil, CaCO3, premix, lysine, and methionine. The research conducted an experiment with 4 treatments of ASF supplementation levels incorporated into basal feed, namely 0% ASF (R0), 3% ASF (R1), 6% ASF (R2), and 9% ASF (R3). The observed variables included blood cholesterol, High Density Lipoprotein (HDL), Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL), triglyceride, and egg yolk cholesterol. The data were subjected to the one-way Analysis of variance (ANOVA) in a completely randomized design, followed by HSD test when differences between treatments were observed. The result showed that ASF supplementation significantly reduced blood cholesterol levels and the egg yolk cholesterol, did not significantly affect LDL and triglyceride levels. The HDL levels and egg yolk cholesterol tend to decrease as the level of ASF increased. It is concluded that avocado seed flour (ASF) supplementation up to 9% is safe for quail feed supplementation.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the levels of blood cholesterol, meat fat and cholesterol, and fatty acids of broiler chickens fed non-AGP feed in three different regions. The material used consisted of 45 broilers from 3,000-10,000 broiler breeders and during maintenance they were not given any antibiotics at all. The research method used is a survey method. The data obtained were then analyzed by One Way ANOVA using the General Linear Model with regional differentiating factors, namely Banyumas, Cilacap, and Purbalingga. The variables observed included total blood cholesterol levels, blood low-density lipoprotein (LDL), blood high-density lipoprotein (HDL), blood triglycerides, meat cholesterol, and total fat of broiler chicken in Banyumas, Purbalingga, and Cilacap areas. The results showed that the use of non-AGP feed in broilers raised in three different areas resulted in total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, fats, and fatty acids which were not significantly different (P> 0.05), but produced meat cholesterol. different (P <0.05). It can be concluded that the non-AGP feed given to broilers in three different regions resulted in relatively the same blood cholesterol, fat, and meat fatty acid profile, but caused the meat cholesterol levels in the three regions to be different.
