Abstract

The postpartum period is a phase of physical and psychological adaptation that often causes anxiety in mothers after childbirth. Untreated anxiety can affect the recovery process, breast milk production, and mother–infant bonding. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of hypnobirthing in reducing anxiety levels among mothers with spontaneous postpartum. The method used was a case study with a nursing care approach involving five spontaneous postpartum mothers who experienced anxiety related to situational crises. Anxiety levels were measured using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) questionnaire before and after the intervention. The nursing intervention in the form of hypnobirthing was administered once daily for 15 minutes over three consecutive days. The results showed a decrease in the average anxiety score from 18 (severe anxiety) before the intervention to 10 (mild anxiety) after three days of hypnobirthing. All patients experienced a reduction in anxiety levels, with most achieving a final category of mild anxiety. In conclusion, hypnobirthing is effective in reducing anxiety levels in spontaneous postpartum mothers and can be used as a non-pharmacological nursing intervention to support maternal psychological recovery after childbirth.

Abstract

Background: Midwifery services are a key determinant in improving maternal and neonatal health outcomes. Midwives’ behaviors, including empathy, communication, professionalism, and responsiveness, have been shown to influence the quality of nursing and midwifery care perceived by patients. At Hospital X Boyolali, internal data revealed persistent complaints regarding insufficient empathy and delayed responsiveness, despite compliance with technical medical standards. This highlights the need to examine the contribution of midwives’ behaviors to the quality of midwifery care. Aims: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between midwives’ behaviors and the quality of midwifery care as perceived by patients in Hospital X Boyolali. Methods: A quantitative study with a cross-sectional analytic design was conducted involving 70 midwives selected through proportional random sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire consisting of 15 items on midwives’ behaviors and 20 items on quality of care. Instrument reliability was confirmed with a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.872. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test with a 5% significance level. Results: Most midwives demonstrated good behaviors in empathy (64.3%), communication (60.0%), professionalism (68.6%), and responsiveness (57.1%). Patients’ perceptions of care quality were predominantly rated as high, with reliability showing the highest proportion (71.4%). The chi-square test indicated a significant association between midwives’ behaviors and the quality of midwifery care (p = 0.002). Conclusion: Midwives’ behaviors play a crucial role in determining the quality of midwifery services. Efforts to improve service quality should prioritize strengthening empathetic, communicative, and professional behaviors through continuous soft skills training and professional development programs.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Exclusive breastfeeding is essential nutrition for infants aged 0-6 months. However, many mothers still feel their breast milk is insufficient to meet their baby's needs. In various cultures, galactagogue foods are one way to increase breast milk production. This research aims to develop marning into a galactagogue snack that is acceptable to the community. This research began with the production of katuk flour (35%), moringa flour (35%), sesame (25%), and ginger (5%), followed by laboratory testing to determine the results of the prognostic test. Organoleptic testing is necessary to assess product acceptance among the community. Panelists were selected from mothers aged 20-40 who were not allergic to any of the ingredients. There were no statistical differences in the five components tested: color, taste, aroma, texture, and overall assessment of the three product variations. This was because the 30 panelists had different taste preferences, meaning these three variations can be further developed to meet community acceptance. Keywords: Exclusive Breastfeeding, Culture, Galactagogue, Marning, Organoleptic test
