Abstract

Overweight becomes a problem in young women, because in general they want to look perfect by having an ideal body, slim and slim. Teenagers who lack physical activities, such as sports and activities that require a lot of body movement are things to watch out for obesity. This research is a correlational study that aims to determine the relationship of physical activity with the incidence of obesity in adolescents in the Department of Nutrition Health Polytechnic Mataram. The study population was all students of the Nutrition Department. The sample that was selected randomly as many as 62 students from the Department of Nutrition. Data collected were physical activities obtained from the recall of 2x24 hours of physical activity conducted over two days, namely college days and holiday days (weekends). Measurement of physical activity using the PAL instrument (Physical Activity Level). Data analysis used chi-square test and OR at 95% CI. The results showed that adolescents have moderate physical activity, but BMI tends to be obese (28,2), and there is a significant relationship (p value = 0,048; OR= 3,3) between physical activity and BMI of adolescent students. Mild physical activity has a 3.3-fold chance of obesity compared to moderate physical activity. In conclusion, adolescent physical activity shows a significant relationship with body mass index. Kegemukan menjadi suatu permasalahan pada remaja putri, karena pada umumnya mereka ingin tampil sempurna dengan memiliki tubuh yang ideal, langsing dan ramping. Remaja yang kurang melakukan aktifitas fisik, seperti olahraga dan kegiatan-kegiatan yang membutuhkan banyak gerak tubuh merupakan hal yang harus diwaspadai terhadap terjadinya obesitas. Penelitian korelasional yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan aktifitas fisik dengan kejadian obesitas pada remaja di Jurusan Gizi Politeknik Kesehatan Mataram. Populasi penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Jurusan Gizi yang terpilih secara acak sebanyak 62 orang. Data yang dikumpulkan yaitu aktivitas fisik yang diperoleh dari hasil recall aktivitas fisik selama 2x24 jam yang dilakukan selama dua hari yaitu hari kuliah dan hari libur kuliah (weekend). Pengukuran aktivitas fisik tersebut dengan menggunakan instrument PAL (Physical Activity Level). Analisis data menggunakan uji chi-square dan OR pada CI 95%. Hasil penelitian diketahui remaja mempunyai aktifitas fisik yang sedang, namun IMT cenderung gemuk (28,2), dan terdapat hubungan signfikan (nilai p= 0,048; OR= 3,3) antara aktifitas fisik dengan IMT remaja mahasiswa. Aktifitas fisik ringan berpeluang sebesar 3,3 kali mengakibatkan obesitas dibandingkan aktifitas fisik sedang. Kesimpulan, aktifitas fisik remaja menunjukkan hubungan secara signifikan dengan indeks masa tubuh.

Abstract

Background: Infectious disease remains a health problem for the elderly. The elderly are susceptible to infection,because the body's ability to fight infection decreases immunity. The immune status can be improved through the effortsof immunization, and nutrition. However the elderly are not sufficient to meet the nutritional needs of food, so probioticcould support nutritional adequacy.Objective: Analyze the effect of probiotic Lactobacillus helveticus Rosell-52 and Lactobacillus rhamnosus Rosell-11 onlevels of lymphocytes in the elderly in Tresna Elderly Social Institution Puspakarma Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara.Methods: This was quasi-experimental study, randomized pre-post control group design. The population is elderly aged60-75 years, involving 45 subjects were divided randomly into two groups, namely the treatment groups givenprobiotics and the control group was given a placebo. Probiotics were given for 4 weeks, with the provision of onecapsule a day. Immunity status in this study was lymphocytes. Data examined included the intake of nutrients (protein,vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, Fe, Zn), health status, quality of sleep, and levels of lymphocytes in the elderly. Datawere analyzed using bivariate with different test Independent sample t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, Spearman, Pearson,and Paired t-test.Results: Increasing number of lymphocytes were significantly in the treatment group (χ ± SD: 1.84 ± 1.85) and in thecontrol group (0.95 ± 5.0). There is no relationship between intake (protein, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, Fe, Zink),physical health status, and quality of sleep with levels of lymphocytes.Conclusion: Probiotics in 4 weeks is proven to increase the number of lymphocytes in the elderly.

Abstract

Cryptococcus neoformans isolates were previously obtained from pigeon droppings in Jakarta. This study aimed to determine another source of infection and describe the supporting niche of the fungus. The occurrence of C. neoformans was evaluated in 110 samples of decaying wood and leaves, tree hollow debris, dust, and bird droppings. Yeasts isolates were collected from 22 houses of HIV-infected patients. The isolates were identified based on culture characteristics, an assimilation test, and URA5 restriction fragment length polymorphism polymerase chain reaction. The spatial analysis was conducted in geographical information system to determine dominant house and environmental factors. Seven of the 120 isolates (5.83%) were identified as C. neoformans, corresponding to four (18.2%) houses. All isolates were from house environments of HIV-infected patients with cryptococcal meningitis. Spearman’s correlation analysis and McNemar’s test revealed a significant association between cryptococcosis in HIV-infected patients and their environment. The clinical and environmental isolates were 100% identical based on molecular techniques, indicating that the patients acquired cryptococcosis from the environment. The spatial analysis revealed that house dust, soil, and leaves were the dominant distribution factors in terms of estimating disease prevalence. This study demonstrates that the house environment is a source of infection for cryptococcosis.

Abstract

Introduction. Incidence of invasive fungal infections (IFI) are reportedly increasing in many countries. Candida is the most common cause of IFI. This study was conducted to determine the prevalence, clinical characteristics, and etiologic pathogen in adult patients with invasive candidiasis (IC) at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hhospital. Methods. This was a cross sectional study with restropective data collection fromof septic patients that’ medical records hospitalized in January 2012 until June 2014. Subjects were selected based on EORTC/MSG 2008 diagnostic criteria for IC. Demographic data, clinical and supporting data, diagnosis, etiologic pathogens, antibiotics, antifungal, outcome, and length of stay were recorded. Results. The IC prevalence at Cipto Mangunkusumo hospital was 12,3% (91 patients from total of 738 sepsis patients). Subjects consisted of 35 proven, 31 probable, and 25 possible invasive candidiasis patients. Candidemia was the most common form of IC and C. albicans was the most common etiologic pathogen. Mean age were 47,9 years, dominated with medical, non-neutropenic, and septic shock patient. Most patients had malignancy with lung infection. The most common medical intervention was urinary catheter. Most patients were given 3rd generation cephalosporin and the most common antifungal used was fluconazole. Forty four percent of IC patients did not get systemic antifungal treatment. Mortality rate was 64.8% and median length of stay were 27 days. Conclusions. IC prevalence was 12,3%. Mortality due to IC was high and C. albicans was the most common etiologic pathogen.

Abstract

Mucormycosis is an opportunistic andfrequently fulminating fungal infection causedby members of the family Mucoraceae, orderMucorales and class Zygomycetes which highly invasive and high mortality. Mucormycosis occurs in diabetic patients with poor blood glucose control. We reported a case of rhinocerebral mucormycosis in 20-year-old female patient with type 1 diabetes. The patient was treated for diabetic ketoacidosis and swollen symptoms in the left eye and out secretions from the left nose containing blackish spots. The probable diagnosis of rhinocerebral mucormycosis is made based on the results of direct examination and culture of nasal and palate tissue biopcywhich result suitable for Mucor sp. She was given systemic antifungal therapy with amphotericin B and symptoms of swelling of the left eye and secretions of the left nose with patches of blackness improved.

Abstract

This study is aimed to know the relation between parents’ activity level and students’ tendency to select peers on students’ morals. This study is quantitative in nature with multicorelation approach. Samples are the 63 fifth graders of MI Muhammadiyah Waru Baki Sukoharjo. Data were analyzed using uses a single and multicorelation analysis. Results show that the first hypothesis is proven that there is a negative relation between parents’ activity level with students’ moral, meaning that the higher parents’ outdoor activity, the lower students’ moral. The second hypothesis indicates that there is a positive relationship between students’ tendency to select peers and students’ morals, therefore the more selective the students select their peers, the better their morals. In addition, the third hypothesis defines that there is a relationship between parents’ activity level and students’ tendency to select peers simultaneously with morals. This finding proves that both students' parents activities and tendency to select peers simultaneously affect moral development.

Abstract

The research aims to evaluate the process of implementing Qur’an reading and writing extracurricular programs and know the student's ability of Qur’an reading and writing in Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 3 Klaten. The research used a mixed-method with a CIPP evaluation model assigning 92 students as a sample. Data were collected using interviews, observation, questionnaires, documents, and tests. Results show that overall the evaluation process was good because it was in accordance with what is expected by the school. The implementation of Qur’an reading and writing extracurricular was appropriate with RPP Qur’an Hadist. In its implementation, 84,8% of students achieved good category. The evaluation product, an extracurricular program in Qur’an reading and writing achieved good results, indicating 57,61% good in reading; 18,48% very good. It means that more than 75% of students that joined extracurricular were successful in reading and writing Al-Qur’an well. The students are able to recite Al-qur’an verses fluently, recite some tajwid well and right, and can read Al-qur’an clearly and tartil.

Abstract

Hypercholesterolemia sufferers tend to be experienced at the age of 45-59 years and over 60 years. Hypercholesterolemia is caused by several factors, namely lifestyle, diet and physical activity. Guava and Porang tubers are one alternative to lower LDL cholesterol levels. Combination guava porang jelly is a snack made from porang flour and guava which is high in fiber and vitamin C. This study is an experimental quasy research. The subjects of the study amounted to 20 people consisting of 10 treatment groups and 10 control groups. The data collected were the intake of fat, fiber and vitamin C obtained by the method of recall of food consumption 1x24 hours before and during the intervention 4 times. Examination of LDL cholesterol levels using the CHOD-PAP method. Data were tested with the Mann-Whitney test to look at the effect of treatment on LDL cholesterol levels between the control group and the intervention group. The treatment group of LDL cholesterol levels before and during the study also decreased by 19,5 mg/dl while the control group by 7,7 mg/dl. There was no significant difference in LDL cholesterol levels after the intervention. However, there was a decrease in LDL cholesterol levels decreased by 19,5 mg/dl in the treatment group and 7,7 mg/dl in the control group.

Abstract

Angka kejadian stunting saat ini menjadi perhatian besar di Indonesia. Upaya saat ini yang dilakukan adalah dengan memberikan edukasi mengenai makanan berprotein tinggi. Edukasi yang diberikan bertujuan agar ibu balita dapat berperan menyediakan menu sehat berprotein tinggi sehingga bisa mencegah angka terjadinya Stunting. Edukasi pada ibu balita dapat diberikan melalui penyuluhan gizi. Penyuluhan bisa diberikan kepada kader Posyandu dan Ibu Balita guna meningkatkan pengetahuan sehingga akan berdampak pada perubahan perilaku sehari-hari dalam pencegahan masalah stunting pada Balita. Tujuan kegiatan adalah untuk memberdayakan kader dan ibu balita dalam pembuatan makanan tinggi protein berbasis pangan lokal (daun kelor, ikan lele, dan tempe/produk nugget kelepe) sebagai upaya pencegahan stunting. Metode dilakukan dengan memberikan penyuluhan, pelatihan antropometri (pengukuran ukuran dimensi tubuh, baik berupa berat badan, tinggi badan,panjang badan, LILA), demonstrasi pembuatan produk Kelepe (Kelor, Ikan Lele dan tempe), pengisian kuesioner pre-post test untuk mengetahui keberhasilan penyuluhan yang dilakukan baik kepada sasaran kader maupun ibu-ibu Balita. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan rata-rata pengetahuan kader dan ibu balita mengalami peningkatan. Proses pelatihan antropometri dan demonstrasi pembuatan produk selingan berbasis Kelepe pada kader dan ibu balita berlangsung baik serta mereka mengapresiasi dengan berpartisipasi aktif. Kesimpulan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yakni kader dan ibu balita memiliki pengetahuan yang baik setelah mendapatkan penyuluhan tentang stunting dan kelepe sebagai makanan tinggi protein untuk upaya pencegahan stunting.

Abstract

Berdasarkan survei kesehatan rumah tangga (SKRT) tahun 2005, menunjukkan bahwa prevalensi anemia pada ibu hamil 50,9%, ibu nifas 45,1%, remaja puteri  usia 10-14 tahun 57,1%, wanita usia subur (WUS) usia 17-45 tahun sebesar 39,5% (Supriyono. 2010) Remaja puteri memiliki risiko sepuluh kali lebih besar menderita anemia dibandingkan dengan remaja putera. Hal ini dikarenakan remaja  puteri mengalami menstruasi setiap bulannya, sedang dalam masa  pertumbuhan sehingga membutuhkan asupan zat besi yang lebih banyak. Remaja  puteri biasanya  sangat memperhatikan bentuk tubuh, sehingga banyak yang membatasi konsumsi makanan dan banyak pantangan terhadap makanan. Tujuan dari pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabmas ini  Remaja puteri di Dusun Bengkel Selatan 1  Desa Bengkel Kecamatan Labuapi mengatasi anemia  dengan pemanfaatan makanan tinggi protein dan Fe berbasis pangan lokal dengan pendampingan cara penggolahan makanan (cook healthy) adalah salah satu cara mengolah bahan makanan yang tinggi protein dan Fe dengan cara yang benar dan tidak menghilangan zat gizi yang terdapat dalam bahan makanan sehingga makanan yang terolah bermanfaat untuk peningkatan protein dan Fe dalam tubuh, sebanyak 15 remaja puteri. Metode yang diterapkan dalam pendampingan ini dengan melakukan  praktek pengolahan bahan makanan tinggi protein hewani dan Fe untuk diterapkan di rumahnya selama sebulan seminggu 1 kali. Pada akhir kegiatan dilakukan evaluasi untuk melihat dampak pendampingan cook healthy terhadap remaja puteri dalam mengolah makanan tinggi protein hewani dan Fe melalui lomba. Terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan melalui pendampingan cook healthy pada remaja putri. The household health research (SKRT) 2005 reports that the anemia prevalence on pregnant women is at 50.9%, on postpartum mothers is at 45.1%, on female teenagers around 10-14 years old is 57,1%, on mature age women around 17-45 years old is 39,55% anemia was found (Supriyono. 2010).  Female teenagers suffering anemia possibilities are ten times greater risk compared to male teenagers risk of suffering anemia. This phenomenon happens because female teenagers are in a growing progress as well as experiencing menstruation monthly. Thus monthly. Thus monthly. Thus, they require more iron intake to support the growth of their body. For the sake of fulfilling their “body goal”,  the female teenagers often restrict on consuming some foods and committed some eating “taboo”. By seeing these phenomena, the research is aimed at preventing the anemia by means of high protein traditional based foods. The “cook healthy” is one of the high protein and Fe cooking technique without no decreasing on nutrition containing in particular foods. This cooking technique was believed to have significant effects on anemia suffering by 15 female teenagers. The cooking techniques were given once a week in one month along with home practices. by the end of the program,  an evaluation was carried out to see the impact of “cook healthy” assistance on female teenagers’ skills in processing high animal protein and Fe foods. The result shows that there was a significant effects of “cook healthy” on female teenagers skill processing high animal protein and Fe foods with p = 0,006 (p<0,05).
