The surge in research addressing code-switching (CS) and code-mixing (CM) occurrences between English and Indonesian languages within podcasts has garnered significant attention.. Nonetheless, the comparative analysis of the structure, categories, and purpose of employing these linguistic blends, along with the audience's interpretations of such bilingual variations, remains somewhat limited. Consequently, the present study endeavors to contrast the distinct manifestations of CS and CM exhibited by Deddy Corbuzier and Cinta Laura, as perceived by participants. The study employed a qualitative approach where the data was analyzed with content analysis. Concurrently, participants' viewpoints regarding CS and CM were elicited through questionnaires distributed among a purposive sample of 20 individuals selected from a population of 200. The data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The findings of this research indicate Cinta Laura employed a greater degree of CS and CM in comparison to Deddy Corbuzier in the podcasts due to her fluency in both languages and her speech mostly indicated her social status and addressed topics of conversation. Meanwhile, Dedy Corbuzier used the variation to demonstrate solidarity and persuade the audience. The paired sample t-test revealed a significant divergence in participants' perceptions of code-switching and code-mixing between Deddy Corbuzier and Cinta Laura.

This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of Contextual Distance Teaching (CDT) in improving driver’s English language expression and enhancing motivation, while also evaluating its significant influence on their English proficiency. Utilizing an action research approach conducted via the WhatsApp online platform, this study engaged 10 tourist drivers associated with the Bali Transport group, aged between 22 and 50. The study comprised two cycles, each consisting of three sessions. Data collection involved administering tests and questionnaires, including pretest, post-test 1, and post-test 2. Analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and paired sample t-tests. The initial findings indicate that CDT effectively enhances the language expression of drivers in service-related contexts. The average pretest score, initially categorized as "poor" at 39, improved to 65 in post-test 1 and further increased to 75.8 in post-test 2, now categorized as "fair.", The main score of the questionnaire was 4.4 of 0-5 Likert scale implying the drivers had positive motivation and perception on the strategy apllied. The second statistic finding indicated a significant difference in the mean between the pre-test (Sig. and the post-test 1 (0.000 < 0.05) and post-test 2 (0.000 < 0.05). This study suggests that the implementation of CBT has a positive influence on reducing the number of language expression errors made by drivers as adult learners, leading to better English proficiency.

Limited vocabulary is one of the most common difficulties faced by EFL learners in Indonesia. Ignorance of English morphological awareness prevents students from expanding lexical words. However, research on morphological consciousness is relatively rare. Therefore, this study aims to examine the impact of morphological awareness on EFL learners’ vocabulary. The study used a causal-effect relationship research design. The population consisted exclusively of students of the English and Management Studies program at Universitas Mahasaraswati Denpasar (N=1360). However, in this study, only 10% of the population (N = 136) was sampled using a systematic random sampling technique. There were two types of instruments: Instrument A was ten successful two-layer multiple-choice morphology tests and Instrument B was vocabulary completion tests. The data were then analyzed using statistical mediation regression and a series of independent-sample t-tests. The results indicated that the participants' perception of the derivation morphology was rated as "poor", which impacted their "poor" achievement. Morphological awareness significantly affected participants' vocabulary, with sig 0.000 < alpha (0.05) and tob (21.601) > tcv (1.667). Furthermore, morphological awareness did not differ by gender (t = 1.221, p = 0.224 > 0.05), but by study duration (t = 4.729, p = 0.000 < 0.05) and academic courses (t = 5.306, with sig 0.000 < 0.05). The results underline that explicit morphological instruction has a positive effect on EFL learners in predicting and promoting vocabulary. Therefore, through linguistic pedagogy, knowledge of English word formation rules has a much stronger and more positive effect on language competence and performance in EFL class than a purely non-linguistic approach.

The Lontar Bhagawan Anggastya Prana is a sacred manuscript with a Shaivist perspective, wherein Lord Shiva holds the highest position as the source of human creation (Bhuwana Alit), referred to as Sang Hyang Siwatman. This Lontar possesses unique characteristics compared to other Lontar manuscripts in Bali. It describes the process of human creation and the placement of sacred syllables on the human body, along with the Ista Dewata that governs them, as a teaching aimed at achieving liberation (Moksha). Therefore, it is essential to explore the dualistic concept of humanity according to Tutur Bhagawan Anggastya Prana. This study employs qualitative research, with the primary source being the Lontar Bhagawan Anggastya Prana from the collection of the Bali Cultural Documentation Center. The dualism of humanity in Tutur Bhagawan Anggastya Prana delves into the core of spiritual teachings concerning the dual nature or duality within humans. In this context, human dualism is depicted as two main aspects that form human existence: the physical aspect (stula sarira) and the spiritual or soul aspect (suksma sarira). Based on the analysis of the Lontar Tutur Bhagawan Anggastya Prana, it is revealed that the atman is a manifestation of Sang Hyang Śiwatma. Humans are imbued with Dewa, Kala, and Atma. The elements of the body are blessings from the gods, ultimately uniting into a holistic entity, the body. The sacred syllables in the human body are manifestations of Sang Hyang Widhi.

English simile and metaphor comprehension by EFL students in Indonesia as an imaginative function plays a crucial role in holistic language learning. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the level of English simile and metaphor comprehension among university students and analyze whether the figure of speech differs according to gender, age, length of study, and different academic backgrounds. The participants were 124 university students in aged 19 to 22 years. Data were collected using 16 English simile and metaphor success test items. The answers were evaluated by two experts. Descriptive statistics and a sequence of Mann-Whitney U tests were applied. This study revealed that students' conception of English similes and metaphors is low on a broad scale. Participants answered 29.11% of the simile questions correctly, while 60.89% of the participants answered the questions incorrectly. Meanwhile, out of eight questions on English metaphors, 38.31% of the students could answer the questions correctly, but 61.69% of the students could not answer the questions. In addition, it was found that the simile and metaphor comprehension of the participants did not differ according to gender but differed based on age, length of study, and academic background. This study advocates that EFL learners should develop their competence in figurative from a cognitive linguistics perspective.
