Abstract

Transparent soap is a kind of solid soap. The addition of white tea extracts could be expected to increase theadvantageof transparent soap. The purpose of this research was to determine process and formulation for themaking of transparent solid soap using palm oil based with addition white tea extracts and its effect to thecharacterictics of transparent solid soap. This reasearch was used laboratory experimental method using descriptiveanalysis. The treatment of this reasearch were addition of white tea extracts using concentrations 1% (w/v) withthe addition of A= 0% (w/v), B=0.5% (w/v), C=1.0% (w/v), and D=1.5% (w/v). Parameters observed wereorganoleptic, chemical properties, antibacterial activity, hardness, and stability of foam. Organoleptic test resultsshowed that panelists prefer soap treatment B with a percentage of 36.67%. The chemical properties of this soapwas in accordance with SNI solid soap No.06-3532-1994, except amount of fatty acids. The value of water contentand evaporated substance was 12.17%, the content of free alkali was 0.101%, the content of unsaponifiedfraction was 2.10%, and the amount of fatty acid was 35.67%. pH value was in accordance ASTM D 1172-95 withpH value of 10. The value of hardness was 0.0091 mm/g/s, stability of foam was 39.08%, and antibacterialactivity with inhibition zone diameter was 11.28 mm. It proved that making transparent solid soap using a palmoil based and the addition of white tea extract as active ingredients could be applied by the community. Keywords:Transparant Solid Soap, Palm Oil, White Tea Extract

Abstract

Cilembu sweet potato are a commodity typical of West Java's Sumedang district which will produce tasty, sweet, legit flavors and honey when burning using an oven. The conversion program of fuel oil to gas indirectly encourages modification of the cilembu sweet potato oven. The aim of this research is to test the performance of gas-fired ovens and observe the characteristics of cilembu during burning. Cilembu sweet potato burning in this study are cilembu sweet potatoes which have been stored for more than ten days, with grade B sizes (100-200 grams / tuber) and grade C (<100 grams per tuber) (SNI Number 01-4493-1998) . The burning performance parameters analyzed included the yield and weight of burned Cilembu sweet potatoes, energy to heat and increase the temperature of the material, energy to vaporize water, energy requirements for cilembu sweet potato burning process, LPG combustion energy, grill efficiency and specific energy consumption. The results showed that the burning process of 10.5 kg cilembu sweet potatoes using an oven with a temperature of 39 0C to 176 0C took 1.22 hours. The average decrease in water content during the burning process is 0.566% bb per minute for grade C and 0.368% bb per minute for grade B with the yield of burned cilembu sweet potato produced at 77.38%. Energy requirements for the cilembu sweet potato burning process were 9,410.68 KJ, LPG combustion energy was 177,050.78 KJ, burning efficiency was 5.32% and Specific Energy Consumption was 44.034,82 KJ / Kg of water vapor.

Abstract

The favorite product of black tea is tea leaf that are ground using the crush, tear and curl (CTC) method. This process able to produce the dry tea which has high quality with a strong aroma and taste, and high levels of antioxidants. This study aimed to conduct an energy analysis on the processing of black tea CTC at PTP. Nusantara VIII Rancabali to find out the steps towards efficient use of energy, opportunities and conservation efforts. The research method used is descriptive analysis method. The present paper conducted the energy audit calculations which are based on the energy consumption in each tea processing activity from the time. The calculation of energy audit was conducted from preparation of raw materials until the packaging of tea product. The results of the energy audit on the CTC black tea processing showed that for each ton of tea leaves required the energy is about 3.930,66 MJ.ton-1The greatest energy use is drying process which is at 1.424,67 MJ.ton-1 or 36,24%. The results of the analysis space was at quadrant conservative aggressive. Aggressive conservative steps that can be taken in the black tea processing are to develop activities towards energy saving, such as changing fuel from ordinary wood to wood pellets and adding or modifying machine tools so that the installed capacity of each processs to fulfill the capacity input of leaf tea. Key words: CTC, energy analysis, energy saving, processing of tea
