Abstract

Agent Orange is a toxic chemical liquid used by the United States military during the Vietnam War in 1955-1975. The use of chemical weapons is classified as a form of crime due to violations of international agreements. This research tries to explain how Agent Orange has become a significant factor in the dynamics of relations between the US and Vietnam. The dynamics will be analyzed using the concept by Immanuel Kant. There are 6 articles that must be done to achieve lasting peace, but this article only discusses articles 1, 5, and 6 which are the basis for the establishment of perpetual peace. Article 1 Perpetual Peace requires a peace agreement that is made as detailed as possible, evidenced by the articles in the 1973 Paris Peace Accord which did not prevent war in the short term, but succeeded in forming a long-term peace scheme. Article 5 Perpetual Peace is also implemented without the intervention of US in Vietnam domestic politics, which until now holds communist ideology. Finally, the US corrective action through the cleaning of the Agent Orange is an embodiment of article 6 of Perpetual Peace. Changes in relations carried out through various collaborations have resulted in a process leading to lasting peace, at least for the US and Vietnam.

Abstract

In response to the issue of Muslim immigrants, a controversial policy has been issued by France. President Immanuel Macron issued a policy to respond to the increasing number of cases of extremism and terrorism in various regions of France and became one of the instruments of regional security. Macron addressed the issue by issuing a speech to shape perceptions of the threat posed by the issue of Muslim immigrants. So that in the end the policies formed by Macron were successfully accepted by the public and officially ratified. It is interesting to study how the political elites in a country shape the perception of an issue so that in the end the issue gets support from the community. This study will analyze this by using the key question "How is French Securitization Against Muslim Immigrants in the Anti-Separatism Law?". This study aims to explain Macron's role in carrying out securitization efforts through speech acts in the French anti-separatism law. The type of research used is the explanatory type. Securitization theory is used in this study to develop an argument about how an issue can be defined by a political elite as a threat to the state. Statements regarding the issue of Muslim immigrants are the focus of analysis in this study. This study argues that Macron has a role in securitizing Muslim immigrants so that the perception of immigrants as a threat to a country can be formed.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to describe how China’s soft diplomacy policy forms in spreading culture in the Republic of South Africa through the China-South Africa High-Level People to People Exchange Mechanism to increase the arrival of African tourists to China and to find out the dynamics of China’s tourism cooperation with the Republic of South Africa. This research based on the promotion of Chinese culture in the Republic of South Africa under cultural cooperation through the China-South Africa High-Level People to People Exchange Mechanism policy and its relation with tourism cooperation between China and the Republic of South Africa. Using the Soft Diplomacy Concept, this research analyses the cultural promotion activities carried out by China in the Republic of South Africa under the China-South Africa High-Level People to People Exchange Mechanism in 2017. The result shows that there was an increase in African tourist arrival to China in 2018, a year after the promotion of Chinese culture under the China-South Africa High-Level People to People Exchange Mechanism, this increase also exceeded the average percentage of African tourist arrivals to China in a period of 10 years (2008-2018). In 2019, two years after the soft diplomacy measure was implemented, there was a very drastic increase in the arrival of African tourists in China. Based on that result, this research suggested for further research to continue to examine China’s use of soft diplomacy, because soft power itself has been refered to in the 17th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party. Keywords: China, Republic of South Africa, China-South Africa High-Level People to People Exchange Mechanism, Tourism, Soft diplomacy

Abstract

Latin America has an interesting economic development dynamic. As an effort to get out from western imperialism, these countries are aggressively implementing an alternative economic system called Import Substitution Industrialization (ISI). However, this system did not last long and led to a crisis so that countries in Latin America inevitably adopted neoliberal economics. However, neoliberal development has created inequality between the people and few elites. In such a situation, many countries in Latin America are trying to formulate alternative development recipes in order to get out of economic neoliberalism which has a negative impact on their social and political order. This paper will try to analyze development alternatives in Latin America using the counter hegemony concept developed by Antonio Gramsci. As a case study, this paper takes two examples of Latin American countries that are seeking development alternatives, namely Brazil and Venezuela. Even though they are both against the hegemony of neoliberal development, each of them has different patterns, where Brazil is more compromising, while Venezuela is more radically revolutionary. This difference also causes the success or failure of alternative development in each of these countries.

Abstract

Vast consumerism especially in the fast fashion industry has been criticised by environmentalists since it increased disposable fashion culture. Social media platforms, websites and apps have become key instruments for communities and organisations to spread awareness and drive transformation in the fashion industry. Meanwhile, due to COVID-19 pandemics, many social welfare institutions suffered from decreased funds and affected protection towards people with low income and specified socio-economic conditions at PPS PGOT Mardi Utomo in Semarang. Leveraging digital media for green campaigns can significantly enhance environmental awareness and sustainable practices among the community. By reopening sewing class and increasing added values in upcycling fashion products with simple stitching models. As supply and demand increased, the upcycling fashion activities needed specific strategies  in ensuring sustainable raw  materials from clothing donation. The utilisation of social media increases people's awareness in eco-friendly campaigns. Wider digital campaign coverage can increase public understanding and participation in donating or purchasing products. The growth of donations through momentum such as Green Ramadan and the introduction of digital campaigns can increase the motivation and entrepreneurial skills of the beneficiaries.

Abstract

Introduction to the Problem: This article examines the U.S. strategy for countering corruption and the increasing challenges of money laundering involving cryptocurrencies in a globalized financial ecosystem. As digital assets gain legitimacy, they have simultaneously become tools for illicit finance, prompting the need for coordinated global regulatory efforts. The United States, home to the world’s largest crypto exchanges and a leading jurisdiction for asset seizures, has developed a comprehensive Five-Pillar Strategy emphasizing global coordination and institutional strengthening. Purpose/Objective Study: This study analyzes how U.S. policy frameworks, including those under the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), and Dodd-Frank Act, respond to transnational threats of corruption, crypto-related crime, and illicit finance. It assesses how these measures promote transparency and shape international cooperation mechanisms. Design/Methodology/Approach: Using a mixed-method legal approach grounded in methodological pluralism, this research integrates normative legal analysis, legal sociology, and neoliberal institutionalism to evaluate the adaptive capacity of global coordination in addressing crypto-related financial crimes. Findings: The study finds that effective responses to crypto-based corruption require not only domestic policy coherence but also institutionalized multilateral coordination anchored in international regimes such as the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), and the OECD’s Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework. The U.S. Five-Pillar Strategy strengthens transparency through beneficial ownership reporting, enhances the detection of illicit transactions via FinCEN and CFTC oversight, and reinforces cross-border collaboration through FATF and UNCAC partnerships. These frameworks collectively represent a pragmatic application of neoliberal institutionalism (where institutions mitigate the risks of an anarchic financial order) and sociological jurisprudence, which treats law as a dynamic tool of social engineering. However, gaps persist in enforcement harmonization and data-sharing, underscoring the continued need for adaptive and inclusive global coordination mechanisms. Paper Type: Research Article
