Abstract

In this context, social media plays a very important role as a new space for religious people to discuss, share knowledge, and expand religious networks and communities globally. Platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and blogs have become public spaces where religious teachings and understanding can be received, discussed, and translated into everyday life. With the existence of social media, the concept of a place of worship is no longer limited to churches, mosques, or other physical places of worship, but has expanded to cyberspace which can be accessed by anyone, anytime, and anywhere. The development of digital technology and social media has brought about major changes in various aspects of human life, including religious life. The church, as an institution that plays an important role in spreading the gospel, faces new challenges and opportunities along with the increasing use of digital technology in everyday life. Social media, which is now an integral part of modern communication, provides a new means to convey religious messages and expand the reach of the spread of the gospel. This study will discuss the role of digital theology and social media in spreading the gospel as well as the challenges and opportunities faced by the church in maintaining theological integrity in the digital era. This discussion will cover theological perspectives, the benefits and risks of using social media, and how the church can respond to these technological developments wisely and in accordance with Christian teachings.

Abstract

This study examines two contrasting theological approaches in modern church life, namely Prosperity Theology and Suffering Theology. Prosperity Theology emphasizes faith as a path to health, wealth, and success, while Suffering Theology sees suffering as a means of forming faith and Christlikeness. Using a qualitative method based on literature study, this study evaluates the teachings of both approaches based on biblical sources, classical and contemporary literature, and church ministry practices in Indonesia. The results of the analysis show that an imbalance in understanding these two approaches can lead to deviations in the life of faith. Therefore, an integrative theological approach is needed, which recognizes blessings and suffering as part of God's work in shaping the lives of believers. This study recommends that churches and theological educational institutions pay balanced attention to the teachings on blessings and suffering in order to produce healthy and contextual ministries.

Abstract

Character education is a very important aspect in the educational process, especially in the context of Christian Religious Education. Christian Religious Education not only aims to provide knowledge about religious teachings, but also to shape the character of students in accordance with noble Christian values. Values such as love, honesty, simplicity, and a sense of responsibility are the basis for building good character and can be applied in everyday life. Therefore, teaching Christian Religious Education needs to integrate moral and ethical learning in every teaching material. In this study, the role of Christian Religious Education in shaping the character of students is discussed, as well as strategies that can be applied in character education based on Christian teachings. Christian religious education not only teaches the teachings of the Christian faith, but also educates students to develop characters in accordance with the teachings of the Bible. The concept of character education involves teaching about love, honesty, humility, hard work, and mutual respect. Through the integration of Christian teachings and moral values taught in the educational process, it is hoped that students can build attitudes and behaviors that reflect a strong Christian identity. In this context, educators act as role models who provide a positive influence on the development of students' character. Thus, character education in Christian religious education becomes an important foundation in forming individuals who are not only intellectually intelligent, but also emotionally and spiritually mature, and able to contribute positively to society.

Abstract

Sexuality and marriage are two important aspects of human life that have a deep spiritual dimension in the context of Christian faith. However, social, cultural, and technological developments in the modern era have presented various issues that challenge the church's traditional views on these two things, such as free sex, same-sex marriage, divorce, and interfaith marriage. This study aims to examine theologically and pastorally the Christian view of sexuality and marriage based on the Bible, and to identify the church's response to contemporary dynamics and challenges. The research was conducted using a literature study method and a contextual hermeneutic approach, and considered interdisciplinary perspectives from the fields of sociology and psychology. The results of the study indicate that the church needs to formulate an approach based on love and biblical truth in dealing with modern issues, as well as strengthen pastoral care and faith education in Christian families. Thus, a deep and relevant understanding of faith can be the basis for guiding people to live a holy sexual and marital life in the midst of a changing world.

Abstract

In the development of digital technology today, it has positive and negative impacts on all aspects of human life in the modern era, including in terms of the development of basic understanding of theology related to faith. Easy access to various information including understanding theology is felt as one form of positive impact but is also followed by negative impacts. In the midst of such a phenomenon, today's churches that still have the standard of teaching the word of God based on the traditions of the early Church and the testimony of the apostles' faith face a new, quite serious challenge, namely the widespread spread of teachings about liberal theology which has a bad and negative impact on the growth of the congregation's faith. Liberal theology is an approach in Christian theology that seeks to adapt religious teachings to the development of modern thought, including rationalism, historical criticism, and science. This approach emphasizes the importance of personal experience and reason in understanding the Christian faith, often reinterpreting traditional doctrines to suit the context of the times. For example, doctrines such as the virgin birth, the physical resurrection of Jesus, and miracles are often interpreted symbolically or allegorically in liberal theology.

Abstract

Abstract
