Abstract

Libo (Ficus variegata, Blume) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang telah diketahui memiliki metabolit sekunder berupa saponin dan alkaloid yang cukup dominan, dimana kedua senyawa tersebut memiliki aktivitas antibakteri. Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan jenis gelling agent pada formulasi gel dalam mempengaruhi aktivitas ekstrak buah Libo (Ficus variegata, Blume) pada bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Propionibacterium acnes. Formula gel dibuat dengan memvariasikan jenis gelling agent yang akan digunakan yaitu HPMC dan Carbopol. Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri dilakukan dengan metode difusi sumuran, selanjutnya dilakukan pengamatan terhadap diameter zona bunuh dengan melihat adanya zona bening yang terbentuk disekitar area sumuran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya penggunaan jenis gelling agent HPMC tidak mempengaruhi aktivitas antibakteri dan Carbopol dapat mempengaruhi aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak buah libo.

Abstract

Pinang (Areca catechu L.) merupakan tanaman yang memiliki banyak manfaat terutama pada bagian buahnya namun kulit buah pinang hanya dianggap sebagai limbah. Secara empiris suku dayaq benuaq memggunakan kulit buah pinang dalam pengobatan jerawat, namun belum ada data ilmiah mengenai hal tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji potensi antibakteri kulit buah pinang terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acne penyebab jerawat dengan menggunakan metode Konsentrasi Hambat Minimum (KHM) dengan seri konsentrasi 5%, 10%, 30% dan 50%, serta dianalisis dengan uji T. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kulit pinang tua memiliki daya hambat sebesar 2,3 mm (5%), 4,3 mm (10%), dan 5 mm (30%), serta 6,6 mm (50%). Sedangkan kulit pinang muda memiliki daya hambat sebesar 1 mm (10%), 1,3 mm (30%) dan 5,6 mm (50%). Kulit buah pinang memiliki potensi antibakteri terhadap Propionibacterium acne penyebab jerawat.

Abstract

The use of environmentally friendly solvent-based expulsion methods today began to be widely used, one of which is a microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) using a citric acid-glucose acid solvent. The study aims to determine the influence of the use of citric acid-glucose based microwave-assisted extraction against the total extraction of polyphenols from Dayak onion bulbs (Eleutherine bulbosa [Mill.] Urb.).The dried samples were extracted using a solvent (green solvent) citric acid – glucose with a ratio of 4:1, 5:1 and 6:1 g/g with the extraction conditions in the form of microwave strength of 50% for 10 minutes with a sample and solvent ratio of 1:10 g/mL, then Extract solution obtained further determination of the total levels of polyphenols using Folin ciocalteu reagents, and its absorption was measured using a UV-vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 791 nm. Based on the results of the study, the total amount of polyphenols obtained from each of the solvent conditions used against the samples was 21.92 mgGAE/g samples, 13.86 mgGAE/g samples, and 14.38 mgGAE/g samples. From this study, it can be concluded that the concentration of citric acid in the microwave-based citric acid-glucose method is assisted by extraction according to the ability of the solvent in the competency of polyphenols from Dayak onion bulbs.

Abstract

Diabetic gangrene is a complication caused by infection due to the presence of a bacteria or a wound inflammatory process associated with diabetes mellitus. One of the therapies given is by taking antibiotics and currently the problem of antimicrobial resistance is a problem that is often faced which makes people start using drugs from natural ingredients. This literature search aims to determine the antibacterial activity of essential oils of various herbal plants against bacteria that cause diabetic gangrene. The method used is literature review with journal searches on indexed journal databases. The results obtained from 12 literature show that the essential oil of a herbal plant that has antibacterial activity against bacteria that cause diabetic gangrene, namely Cymbopogon citratus essential oil, Juglans regia L, Zataria multiflora Boiss, Ocimum gratissimum L, Satureja spicigera, Cinnamomum osmophloeum, a combination of essential oils masoyi and cinnamon, citronella (Cymbopogon bernadus L), jeringau rhizome (Acorus calamus Linn), Piper gibbilimbum C, kaffir lime (Citrus hystrix DC) and clove flower essential oil (Syzygium arimaticum).

Abstract

Black Betel Leaf (Piper betle L. var Nigra) contains compounds that act as antibacterials, namely alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, steroids and phenolic compounds. Acne or acne vulgaris is an inflammatory reaction in the sebaceous follicles, which is caused by the Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. This study aims to prove that black betel leaf (Piper betle L. var Nigra) has antibacterial activity and has a long-lasting effect on the ethanol extract of black betel leaf against propionibacterium acne. The method includes sample extraction with 70% ethanol and then followed by antibacterial testing with the well method. In addition, the extract was prepared into a test solution and stored for 7 days at room temperature. The results of antibacterial testing using well diffusion can be concluded that the ethanol extract of black betel leaves with a concentration of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% has the ability to inhibit the growth of propionibacterium acne bacteria. The effect of the extract storage time on day 7 had the largest inhibition zone.

Abstract

The research about “The Influence of Sampling Time to Testosterone for Medical Check Up” had been develoved to 19 man aged 19 – 25 years old. Sample was collected at 8 a.m. and 12 a.m. to determine testosterone serum level. Determining of testosteron serum level was done using Electrochemiluminescence Immunoassay(ECLIA). The result show that testosterone serum level mean at 8 a.m. (608.90 ng/dL) is slightly lower than testosterone serum level at 12 a.m. (647.95 ng/dL). The analysis of t test (α=0.05) show that there was not significantly difference between testosteron level mean at 8 a.m. and 12 a.m. So the sampling time to determine testosteron serum level to men can be done until 12.00 a.m. Keywords: Testosterone, Electrochemiluminescence, Immunoassay ABSTRAK Telah dilakukan penelitian mengenai “Pengaruh Waktu Pengambilan Sampel Darah Terhadap Pemeriksaan Testosteron”. Sampel darah diambil dari 19 pria berumur 19 – 25 tahun. Sampel darah dikumpulkan pada pukul 08.00 dan pukul 12.00 untuk pemeriksaan kadar testosteron. Penentuan kadar testosteron dilakukan menggunakan metode Electrochemiluminescence Immunoassay (ECLIA). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kadar testosteron rata-rata pada pukul 08.00 (608,90 ng/dL) sedikit lebih rendahdaripada kadar testosteron rata-rata pada pukul 12.00 (647,95 ng/dL). Hasil analisis uji t (α = 0,05) menunjukan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kadar testosteron rata-rata pada pengambilan pukul 08.00 dan pukul 12.00. Sehingga pengambilan sampel darah untuk pemeriksaan kadar testosteron pada pria dewasa dapat dilakukan hingga pukul 12.00. Kata kunci: Testosteron, Electrochemiluminescence Immunoassay

Abstract

Ideal gel formulation can be obtained by formulating some kind of gelling material, but the most important thing to note is the selection of a gelling agent. HPMC (Hidroxy Propyl Methyl Cellulose) is a gelling agent that is commonly used in the production of cosmetics and drugs, because it can producea gel that is clear, easily soluble in water, and has a low toxicity. This study aimed to obtain the concentration of HPMC as a gelling agent that has the physical stability in accordance with the stipulated requirements. Gel formulations made with HPMC concentration variation of 3%, 5% and 7%, further evaluation of physical properties include organoleptic test, homogeneity, dispersive power, pH, and viscosity. Evaluation gel base done for 3 weeks. The results of stability tests show the base gel with a concentration of 7% HPMC has a good standard for viscosity, pH, dispersive power, homogeneity and organoleptic.Key words: Gel, HPMC (hidroxy propyl methyl cellulose), gelling agent.ABSTRAKSediaan gel yang baik dapat diperoleh dengan cara memformulasikan beberapa jenis bahan pembentuk gel, namun yang paling penting untuk diperhatikan adalah pemilihan gelling agent. HPMC (Hidroxy Propyl Methyl Cellulose) merupakan gelling agent yang sering digunakan dalam produksi kosmetik dan obat, karena dapat menghasilkan gel yang bening, mudah larut dalam air, dan mempunyai ketoksikan yang rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh konsentrasi HPMC sebagai gelling agent yang memiliki kestabilan fisika yang sesuai dengan persyaratan yang telah ditetapkan. Formulasi gel dibuat dengan variasi konsentrasi HPMC 3%, 5% dan 7%, selanjutnya dilakukan evaluasi sifat fisika yang meliputiuji organoleptis, homogenitas, daya sebar, pH, dan viskositas. Evaluasi basis gel dilakukan selama 3 minggu. Hasil yang diperoleh dari uji stabilitas menunjukan basis gel dengan konsentrasi HPMC 7% memiliki standar yang baik untuk viskositas, pH, daya sebar, homogenitas dan organoleptis.Kata Kunci : Gel, HPMC (Hidroxy Propyl Methyl Cellulose), gelling agent.
