Abstract

Effective family communication plays a pivotal role in maintaining adolescent mental health. This study focuses on the significance of optimizing family communication to support the mental well-being of adolescents in West Java, a region rich in cultural diversity and strong family values. The research highlights the importance of democratic communication patterns within families, where every member has the opportunity to speak and be heard. Such communication fosters emotional and psychological development in adolescents, making them more resilient to external pressures from school and peer groups. Despite its importance, effective family communication faces several challenges, including generational gaps, the influence of technology, and a lack of communication skills among parents. The study proposes several strategies to overcome these obstacles. Utilizing local cultural values, such as those found in Sundanese traditions, can enhance family communication. Additionally, schools and communities play critical roles in supporting families through counseling programs and educational workshops. Technology, if used wisely, can also facilitate communication and provide educational resources. Continuous evaluation and monitoring are essential to ensure the effectiveness of these strategies. Surveys, interviews, and direct observations can help assess changes in family communication patterns and their impact on adolescent mental health. Government policies supporting mental health programs and family communication training are crucial. Psychologists and counselors are vital in providing individual and family counseling services, facilitating workshops, and supporting families in managing communication challenges. The findings of this study underscore the need for collaborative efforts among families, schools, communities, and government bodies to create a supportive environment for adolescents. By implementing comprehensive programs and policies that promote effective family communication, it is possible to enhance the mental health of adolescents in West Java. This research provides a strong foundation for developing effective intervention programs tailored to the local context and serves as a reference for further studies in this field.

Abstract

Novice voters are susceptible to political misinformation, which can influence democratic decision-making. Thus, reducing the negative impact of political misinformation is essential to support more democratic elections. Utilizing the Stimulus-Organism-Response theoretical framework, this research examines four hypotheses concerning the correlation of media literacy and information literacy on the capability of novice voters to recognize misinformation about politics and their intention to disseminate it on social networks. A quantitative research approach employing cross-sectional surveys was utilized. The sample consisted of 380 novice voters comprising high school students in Cianjur Regency, selected through a stratified random sampling method. Data were collected through online surveys using Google Forms and tested using the application of the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. According to the findings, media literacy and information literacy simultaneously significantly impact novice voters' competence to recognize political misinformation on social network sites, and higher media and information literacy scales correlate with lower intentions to disseminate political misinformation on social platforms. The findings conclude that media literacy and information literacy perform a crucial function in determining the behavior of beginner voters regarding political misinformation on social media. These findings also support policymakers, media organizations, and educational institutions in designing more effective literacy programs.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of cinematographic techniques by the Director of Photography (DOP) in the feature video Quiet Quitting: The Balance Within. The video explores the quiet quitting phenomenon, where individuals choose to work only within their assigned responsibilities without exceeding expectations, aiming to maintain work-life balance. The objective of this study is to analyze how visual storytelling techniques—such as type shots, camera angles, camera movement, and framing—contribute to conveying the themes of quiet quitting. This research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach using case study analysis. The study focuses on visual techniques applied throughout the pre-production, production, and post-production phases. Data collection methods include direct observation, video analysis, and interviews with key production members. The cinematographic aspects analyzed include close-up shots to emphasize emotions, medium shots to establish context, high and low camera angles to shape perspective, tracking and static shots to regulate the pacing, and framing techniques to highlight solitude, disconnection, and emotional engagement. The results indicate that the integration of cinematographic elements significantly enhances audience perception and emotional connection. The selection of shot types effectively conveys the psychological and emotional depth of the protagonist, while camera angles and movements reinforce themes of isolation and workplace detachment. This study contributes to media studies by demonstrating how cinematographic techniques can visually translate abstract workplace experiences into compelling narratives.
