Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi sistem breeding sapi Madura di pulau Madura dan karakterisasi performans produksi sapi Madura pada sistem breeding yang teridentifikasi. Materi yang digunakan adalah 200 ekor sapi Madura umur 6, 12, dan 24 bulan terdiri dari 93 ekor sapi Madura murni (M), 86 ekor sapi hasil persilangan generasi pertama (LM-G1) dan 21 ekor sapi hasil persilangan generasi ke dua (LM-G2) di Pulau Madura. Data dianalisis dengan analisis ragam acak lengkap pola searah dengan mengaplikasikan software GENSTAT). Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan diketahui 46,5% dari total sampel menganut sistem breeding pemurnian sapi Madura, 43% sistem breeding persilangan generasi pertama, sedangkan sisanya (10,5%) adalah sistem breeding persilangan generasi ke dua. Pada semua umur yang diamati, jenis kelamin tidak memberikan pengaruh yang nyata pada ukuran tubuh pada tiga kelompok perlakuan (M, LM-G1 dan LM-G2). Panjang badan (PB) dari M umur 6 bulan adalah 110,62±29,65 cm, nyata lebih panjang (P<0,5) dibandingkan dengan PB pada LM-G1 (93,40±7,48 cm) maupun LM-G2 (105,00±9,34 cm). Rataan TG (cm) pada umur 12 bulan pada M, LM-G1 dan LM-G2 berturut-turut adalah 107,20± 7,73 112,50± 9,79  116,50±2,12 cm. Rataan LD umur 24 bulan pada sapi M, LM-G1 dan LM-G2 masing-masing sebesar 140,90±19,52; 160,20±12,96; 173,50± 7,97 cm. Pada umur 12 dan 24 bulan performans sapi hasil persilangan cenderung lebih tinggi daripada sapi Madura murni.   Kata kunci: sistem breeding, sapi Madura, performans produksi BREEDING SYSTEM AND PERFORMANCE OF CROSSBRED MADURA CATTLE IN MADURA ISLAND MADURA ABSTRACT Research was done to identify breeding system of Madura cattle in Madura Island and characterization of productive performance of Madura cattle in the identified breeding system. Material used was 200 Madura cattle which consisted of 93 pure Madura cattle (M), 86 first generasion crossbred (LM-G1) and 21 second generation crossbred (LM-G2). Data were analyzed using ANOVA one way classification applying software GENSTAT (Anonymous, 2008). Results showed that breeding system of pure Madura breed occupied 46.3% of samples, 43% and 10.5% were crossbreeding of first generasion and second generation of Limousin and Madura cattle, respectively. Performance of M, LM-G1 and LM-G2 was not affected by sex. Body length of M at 6 months of age was 110.62±29.65 cm, which was significantly higher (P<0.5) than those of LM-G1 (93.40±7.48 cm) and LM-G2 (105.00±9.34 cm). Gitter height at age of 12 months of M, LM-G1 dan LM-G2 were 107.20± 7.73, 112.50± 9.79, 116.50±2.12 cm, respectively. Chest girths of M, LM-G1 and LM-G2 at 24 months of age were 140.90±19.52; 160.20±12.96; 173.50± 7.97 cm, respectively. At age of 24 months, performances of crossbred cattle were significantly higher than pure breed of Madura cattle.   Key words: breeding system, Madura cattle, productive performance

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penampilan produksi sapi aceh di BPTU-HPT Indrapuri Aceh. Materi penelitian yaitu sapi aceh umur satu hari, umur sapih, dan umur satu tahun sebanyak 159 ekor. Metode penelitian adalah studi kasus berdasarkan data bobot lahir, bobot sapih, bobot satu tahun beserta ukuran tubuhnya. Data dianalisis menunjukkan bahwa sapi jantan memiliki bobot lahir 13,66±1,08 kg, bobot umur 205 hari 71,60±7,92 kg dan bobot  umur 365 hari 104,66±11,72 kg.  Sapi betina memiliki bobot lahir 13,88±1,32 kg, bobot umur 205 hari 64,38 ± 10,36 kg dan bobot umur 365 hari 90,29±11,95 kg. Sapi Aceh umur satu hari memiliki lingkar dada, panjang badan dan tinggi pundak berturut-turut  55,41 cm, 46,16 cm  dan 55,22 cm pada sapi jantan serta 55,87 cm, 46,83 cm, dan 55,74 cm pada sapi betina. Sapi aceh umur 365 hari memiliki ukuran lingkar dada, panjang badan dan tinggi pundak berturut-turut 114,32 cm, 94,31 cm dan 92,93 cm pada sapi jantan serta 104,25 cm, 85,06 dan 87,71 cm pada sapi betina. Rata-rata penampilan produksi sapi aceh di BPTU Indrapuri  berpotensi menjadi ternak unggul berdasarkan kriteria SNI.Kata Kunci: sapi aceh, penampilan produksi, bobot badan, ukuran tubuhABSTRACTThis study aimed to evaluate the productive performance of aceh cattle at Indrapuri Breeding Center for Superior Livestock and Forage. A total of 159 heads of aceh cattle were used in this study. The method used was a case study based on the data of birth weight, weaning weight, yearling weight, and body size. The results showed that the birth weight, weaning weight at 205 days of age, and yearling weight at 365 days of age of male aceh cattle were 13.66±1.08 kg, 71.60±7.92 kg, and 104.66±11.72 kg, respectively. Whereas, female aceh cattle had the birth weight, weaning weight at 205 days of age, and yearling weight at 365 days of age of 13.88±1.32 kg, 64.38±10.36 kg, and 90.29±11.95 kg, respectively. At birth, male Aceh cattle had the chest circumference, body length, and shoulder height of 55.41 cm, 46.16 cm, and 55.22 cm, respectively, while female aceh cattle were 55.87 cm, 46.83 cm, and 55.74 cm, respectively. At 365 days of age, male aceh cattle had the chest circumference, body length, and shoulder height of 114.32 cm, 94.31 cm, and 92.93 cm, respectively, while female aceh cattle were 104.25 cm, 85.06 cm, and 87.71 cm, respectively. The average productive performance of aceh cattle at Indrapuri Breeding Center for Superior Livestock and Forage has the potential to become superior cattle based on the criteria of Indonesian National Standard.Keywords: aceh cattle, performance, body weight, body size

Abstract

ABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan konstruksi pohon filogeni berdasarkan keragaman DNA Mitokondria khususnya COI (Cytochrome Oxidase Sub unit I). Sampel yang digunakan yakni darah sapi PO, DNA sapi SO, sapi pesisir, sapi bali, sapi madura dan sapi pasundan masing-masing 12 sampel. Sekuen COI dianalisis menggunakan MEGA 7.0 software dengan metode bootstrapped Neighboor-Joining (NJ) 1000 kali pengulangan berdasarkan between group untuk merekonstruksi pohon filogeni. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sapi pesisir dekat dengan sapi SO, sapi madura dan sapi pasundan tidak memiliki kekerabatan dengan sapi lokal Indonesia lainnya sehingga membentuk garis tersendiri dan sapi PO dekat dengan sapi bali.Kata Kunci: COI, DNA mitokondria, filogeni sapi lokal indonesiaABSTRACTThe purpose of this study was to obtain the construction of phylogeny trees based on the diversity of Mitochondrial DNA especially COI. The samples used were PO cattle blood, SO cow DNA, Coastal cattle, bali cattle, madura cattle, and pasundan cattle every 12 samples. COI sequences were analyzed using MEGA 7.0 software with the bootstrapped Neighbor-Joining (NJ) method 1000 repetitions based on the between groups to reconstruct the phylogeny tree. The results showed that boastal cattle close to SO cattle, madura cattle, and pasundan cattle did not have a kinship with other local Indonesian cows to form a separate line and PO cattle close to bali cattle.Keywords: mitochondrial DNA, coi, indonesian local cow, phylogeny

Abstract

Piglet birth weight has an economic value and commonly correlated with weaning weigh. Therefore, birth weight traits of piglet needs to be selected for genetic improvement. The purpose of a study was to estimate the genetic improvement of piglet birth weight based on heritability and breeding value. Around 154 heads of offsprings generated from 6 sires and 14 sows were used in this study. The data of piglet birth weight was analyzed for heritability (nested classification), breeding value, selection response, and genetic improvement estimation. The result showed that the heritability (h2) of offsprings was 0.24±0,15. Based on breeding value, sires which had high piglet birth weight can be used for male ranking. Selection of response value was 0.06 kg. According to the selection of response value, improvement of birth weight in piglet based on the sire used can be estimated.

Abstract

This research aimed to study the performance of broiler raised in 3 stair floors. This research had been done from 09 September to 12 Oktober 2016 at Purwosari, Pasuruan. The data of performance was obtained from a poultry house which divided into 3 floors. The brooding period was given for 2 weeks in 2nd floor, on 15th days the chicken were separated into 1st and 3rd floor with the same house density. The obtained data was analyzed using T-test (independent samples T-test) to see the difference in between. The result of this research showed that there were highly significant differences on body weight gain, slaughter weight, and feed conversion ratio of broiler between 1st and 3rd floor. However, the differences floor did not contribute to differences on feed consumption (2.357 g/bird on 1st floor and 2.351 g/bird on 3rd floor). The body weight gain of broiler at 1st floor (1.293±96.52 g/bird) was lower than 3rd floor (1.331±82.77 g/bird). The final weight of broiler at 1st floor (1.780±90.6 g/bird) was lower than 3rd floor (1.818±81.8 g/bird). Feed conversion ratio of broiler at 1st floor (1.83±0.14) was higher than 3rd floor (1.77±0.11). The conclusion of this research was that the performance of broiler raising at 3rd floor has better performance than those at 1st floor. It is suggested to further research to determine the best production performance of broilers reared on the 1st floor, 2nd floor and 3rd floor. Keywords: depletion, microclimate, stair floors

Abstract

Long-term goals of this research were to increase production and maintain purity of Madura cattle as one of Indonesian native cattle. The specific objectives of this study was to develop an institutional model of conservation of Madura cattle as a base for improving productivity and empowerment of Madura cattle farmer. The research was conducted by survey method. Data collection were done by the technique of interview, observation participation and Foccus Group Discussion (FGD) and the Delphi technique. The instruments for data collection were questionnaire and interview guidelines. The results showed that the highest increament of cattle population was found in Bangkalan district. Most of the households managed 2-3 cattle which belong to their own, but there were still 32.50 percent of households managed share cattle.  Mating system using artificial insemination of excotic breed frozen semen has been commonly used among the farmers. Reproductive performance of Madura cattle was good indicated by service per conseption (S/C) of 1.5 and calving interval (CI) of 18 months. With regards to perception, farmers tended to agree with cross-breeding between Madura cattle with semen of exotic breed. This was mainly due to economic aspect in which crossbred cattle was more expensive than local cattle. Determination of Sapudi Island as a breeding centre of Madura cattle showed as an institutional changes of Madura cattle conservation. The development of institutional model of Madura cattle conservation should consider the economic, technical and social aspects. It coul be suggested that the guidance and supervision of the farmers need to be carried out continuously as an effort to preserve the purity of Madura cattle. Economic incentives as a reward for farmers who rear Madura cattle should be a major consideration in the development of an institutional model of Madura cattle conservation. In addition, madurese community must be involved in the development of institutional model for Madura cattle conservation.   Keywords: Institution, conservation, genetic resources, Madura cattle

Abstract

This study aims were to estimate the value of genetic parameters of realized heritability and to estimate the value of genetic progress in 10 Mojosari duck lines selected for 4 generations on the first 3 months cumulative egg production. Individual egg production records on 10 lines comprising 980 ducks with details of 108 drakes and 872 female ducks were used as research material. The results showed: 1) The realized heritability value of 3 months cumulative egg production in each duck line was moderate approaching high; 2) The response to selection of 3 months cumulative egg production selection in each duck line ranged from 0.37 to 0.48 eggs; 3) Selection on 3 months cumulative egg production characteristics could be appointed to be one of the selection criteria, because realized heritability value was moderat close to high and the response to selection was positive.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to evaluate the breeding value based on body weight and body measurement at one day of age in Madura cattle on the Technical Implementation Unit of Animal Breeding and Health East Java. Recording data used were withered height (WH), body length (BL), chest girth (CG), and birth weight (BW) that birth from 2014 until 2020.  Analyzed variables consist of heritability, breeding value, and spearman correlation. The analysis result showed heritability for the performance of 1 day of age in Madura cattle categorized as a medium until high (0.33 – 0.64). Breeding value from 10 bull based on BW was 60% categorized positive. Meanwhile, breeding value based on WH, BL, CG was 40% categorized positive. The Spearman correlation of BW with WH and CG had a high correlation (0.73 and 0.78), while BW and BL had a low correlation (0.22). This research concluded that the highest breeding value of body weight and body measurement of Madura cattle at 1 day was sire Montahai/1661100. The genetic potency of Madura cattle should be improved by applying for a consistent breeding program with a sound recording and selection program.

Abstract

This research was conducted to examine egg quantity and quality of Silver and Gold Arabic chicken (Gallus turcicus). The materials used in this study were 30 Silver and 30 Gold Arabic chicken aged 8-9 months which had mean of initial body weight were 1,93±0,13 and 2,00±0,15 kg respectively. The method was experiment on two groups of Arabic chicken based on feather color (Silver and Gold). Data was analyzed by unpaired t test. The study shows that egg weight of Gold Arabic chicken (46.81±2.41 g) was significantly heavier (P<0.01) than that of Silver Arabic chicken (42.75±2.22 g). However, there were no significant difference on egg number, egg index, yolk color eggs, yolk protein content, yolk fat content, and Haugh units among these two chickens. It could be concluded that Gold Arabic chicken could produce heavier egg weight than the Silver one although there were no differences on egg number, egg index, yolk color eggs, yolk protein content, yolk fat content, and Haugh units. The study suggests breeding Gold Arabic chickens due to its egg weight production. Keywords: Arabic chicken, feather color, quantity and quality eggs

Abstract

Madura, a local cattle breed in Indonesia,  is included as a national genetic resource. Genetic evaluation for growth traits in Madura cattle is important for appropriate utilization and improvement of this breed. The aim of this study was to estimate the heritability for growth traits in Madura cattle. The method used in this study is a data recording from 2010 until 2016 including birth weight (190 animals), weight at day 205 (155 animals) and weight at day 365 (135 animals) were used for heritability estimates by using paternal half sib correlation. The results showed that heritability estimates for birth weight, weight at day 205 and weight at day 365 were 0.38±0.17; 0.64±0.22 dan 0.54±0.18. Estimates of heritability for growth traits in Madura cattle ranged between medium and high. In conclusion,growth traits can be used as selection criteria for future genetic improvement in Madura cattle.
