Abstract

The politicization of religion in election campaigns has become a global phenomenon with significant implications for voter behavior and democratic stability. This study aims to fill the gap in systematic understanding by conducting a bibliometric analysis of scholarly publications on religious issues in electoral contexts. Using data from the Scopus database (1980–2023), the study employs VOSviewer and RStudio to map publication trends, citation impact, geographical distribution, institutional contributions, and thematic networks. A total of 244 articles were analyzed, revealing a sharp increase in publications since 2000, with peaks in 2021. The United States and Indonesia emerged as dominant contributors, while Southeast Asian institutions showed strong local engagement. Thematic mapping identified “religious identity” and “voter behavior” as central themes, while topics like “digital religion” and “religious extremism” appeared as emerging or declining. The findings highlight the global relevance of religious discourse in political campaigns and its role in shaping polarization and identity politics. This study contributes to the academic field by offering a structured overview of the intellectual landscape and suggesting future research directions emphasizing cross-cultural collaboration and methodological innovation.

Abstract

Abstract

Integration of efficiency, justice, and blessing in income allocation based on the perspective of Maqasid al-Syari'ah. In Islamic economics, income allocation is not solely oriented towards increasing material profits, but must also be based on just spiritual and social values. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical research type. The descriptive-analytical approach is used to systematically describe the concepts of efficiency, justice, and blessing, and analyze their relationship with the main objectives of sharia (maqasid al-shari'ah). The results of the analysis show that Maqasid Al-Syari'ah, especially the preservation of religion (hifz al-din), life (hifz al-nafs), intellect (hifz al-'aql), descendants (hifz al-nasl), and property (hifz al-mal), provides ethical principles that bind the concepts of efficiency and justice. In this perspective, efficiency is not only measured by maximizing output or material profit, but also by its contribution to achieving comprehensive welfare (falah). Meanwhile, justice ('adl) is realized through allocation that ensures the fulfillment of basic needs for all parties and minimizes inequality. This integration is achieved through the concept of blessing, which serves as an indicator of the spiritual and material success of income allocation. Blessings emphasize the moral and social dimensions in the use of wealth, encouraging practices such as zakat, almsgiving, and social investment that are oriented towards long-term benefits (maslahah).

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance the competitiveness of tourism potential and local products in Wasuemba Village through an integrated digital branding strategy supported by a website-based Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) information system. The partner, BUMDes Bantea Mainawa Lahonduru, faced limitations in product branding and the effective use of information technology for promotion. The program employed a participatory approach consisting of socialization, mentoring and digital marketing training, development and implementation of an official BUMDes website, and the installation of Starlink-based internet connectivity to support digital access. The results show improved capacity of BUMDes administrators in managing digital platforms and content, as well as increased readiness to utilize the website as a central information and promotion hub. The website strengthens the village’s digital identity, supports sustainable tourism promotion, improves transparency, and expands market reach. Overall, this program demonstrates that the integration of digital infrastructure and capacity building can accelerate digital transformation and support local economic development in rural and coastal communities.

Abstract

This study examines the role of maqashid al-sharia–based zakat accounting in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the National Zakat Agency of North Sumatra Province. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and an interpretive paradigm, the research explores the implementation of PSAK 109, the integration of maqashid al-sharia values, and the contribution of zakat programs to SDG targets. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and analysis of financial statements and program reports issued by National Zakat Agency. The findings reveal that National Zakat Agency North Sumatra has applied zakat accounting in accordance with PSAK 109 to ensure transparency and accountability, although the measurement of maqashid-oriented social impact has not yet been fully quantified. Core maqashid values such as hifz al-mal, hifz al-nafs, and hifz al-aql are reflected in the institution’s flagship programs, including Sumatera Utara Makmur, Sumatera Utara Sehat, and Sumatera Utara Cerdas, which contribute directly to SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). The study highlights that zakat accounting serves not only as a financial reporting mechanism but also as an instrument for promoting social and spiritual development aligned with maqashid al-sharia. Nonetheless, challenges remain in developing measurable indicators, strengthening human resource capacity in sharia-based accounting, and aligning maqashid values with SDG targets. The study recommends the development of a Maqashid–SDGs Index and enhanced competency building to strengthen the role of zakat in sustainable development. Overall, the findings reinforce the potential of zakat accounting as a model of Islamic sustainable accounting oriented toward societal welfare and long-term impact
