Abstract

ABSTRACT Background Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is a non-melanocytic skin cancer originating basal layer of the epidermis and/or hair follicles that shows an increasing global incidence. Disease growth is slow, rarely metastasizes but has the ability to invade and destroy deeper surrounding tissues. Low mortality, but high morbidity. Matrix metalloproteinases are enzymes that can degrade various extracellular matrix components. In skin, MMP-9 expression may be increased by prolonged ultraviolet exposure. UV radiation is one of the causes of BCC. Method Analytic study with a cross sectional approach on 40 surgical samples diagnosed as BCC and then performed with MMP-9 immunohistochemical staining. The data obtained were processed with statistical software and the relationship between the immunohistochemical expression of MMP-9 with histopathological subtypes of basal cell carcinoma was used the Somers'd statistical test. Results The expression of MMP-9 in the lower risk BCC group with the weakest expression was 37.5%, the most common nodular BCC subtype was 27.5%. The higher risk BCC group with the strongest expression was 20.0%, the most common infiltrating BCC was 17.5%. There was a significant relationship between the immunohistochemical expression of MMP-9 with histopathological subtypes of basal cell carcinoma, p value <0.0001 (p<0.05). Conclusion This study proves that there is a significant relationship between the expression of MMP-9 with histopathological subtypes of basal cell carcinoma, so it can be considered as an additional marker to predict the recurrence.

Abstract

BackgroundClear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is a very aggressive cancer and is often diagnosed at an advanced stage. The stromal component around the tumor is thought to have contributed greatly to these findings.MethodsAnalytical study with cross sectional design on 23 histological specimens diagnosed by ccRCC based on data from medical records/pathology archives in 2012-2021. Each specimen was stained with hematoxylin and eosin, TGF-β and FAP immunohistochemistry and Masson's trichrome. Fisher's exact test (p<0.05) was used to assess the association between the expressions of all variables with the ISUP grading.ResultsMost cases were high grade ccRCC (87%) samples, of which 73.9% samples expressed strong TGF-β, 82.7% samples expressed positive intratumoral FAP, 78.3% samples expressed positive stromal FAP, 47.8% showed a TACS-3-pattern, 56.5% of samples with positive stromal TILs and 47.8% of samples with negative intratumoral TILs. There was no significant association between all of these variables and the ISUP grading of the ccRCC (p<0.05).ConclusionExpression of TGF-β1, intratumoral and stromal FAP, TACS pattern and the degree of intratumoral and stromal TILs were not significantly associated with ISUP grading in ccRCC.

Abstract

School Operational Assistance (SOA) is a government program that provides funding for personnel operational costs for basic education units as implementing compulsory learning programs. The SOA program policy, programmed in elementary and junior high schools, is one form of policy implementation with the aim of equity and improving the quality of basic education. Therefore, SOA funds must be managed properly and carried out orderly and responsibly. The management of SOA funds is the principal’s responsibility, assisted by the SOA Treasurer. However, in practice, there was a misappropriation of SOA funds. The misappropriation of SOA funds was found to several factors that lead to the achievement of the objectives of managing funds have not been achieved, including planning aspects, implementation aspects, and accountability aspects. In the implementation aspect, it was found that, basically, all use of the budget was in accordance with the technical guidelines. Still, the lack of socialization among parents caused many parties to misunderstand the problem of SOA funds, even though socialization is a very important stage in determining the success and smooth implementation of the program. In accountability, not a few schools have difficulty compiling financial reports because not all schools have competent personnel in their fields. Furthermore, in the 2021 Supreme Audit Agency’s (BPK/Badan Pemeriksa Keuangan) audit report, there are findings obtained by Supreme Audit Agency, one of which is that there are weaknesses in the administration and accountability of School Operational Assistance funds (SOA) in Tojo Una Una, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. Therefore, it is necessary to do service in the form of socialization related to the administration of the SOA Fund Treasurer, which will be framed in an effective communicative and relaxed manner so that it can provide a stimulus to participants so that they can comprehensively understand administrative technicalities in accordance with the latest developments in the Regulation of the Minister of Internal Affairs No. 24 of 2020 concerning administration for the management of SOA grants.

Abstract

This study examines and analyzes the effect of government internal control systems and organizational culture interaction on corruption prevention. This research was conducted in village governments in Marawola, Dolo, and Sigi Biromaru sub-districts, Central Sulawesi, involving 150 village government officials as respondents. This research uses quantitative methods with primary data in the form of questionnaires. SmartPLS 4.0 was used as an analysis tool. The results found that a strong internal control system, as indicated by a healthy control environment and regular monitoring activities, is effective in preventing corruption. An organizational culture that emphasizes open communication and information is proven to strengthen corruption prevention efforts. However, the results of this study also show that an organizational culture that does not support the separation of duties and authorities will weaken corruption prevention efforts. These findings suggest that building a strong system is not enough, it is important to build a culture that supports transparency and accountability.

Abstract

The hospitality industry in Palu City experienced rapid growth until it was abruptly disrupted by two major force majeure events: a series of natural disasters in 2018 and the global coronavirus pandemic beginning in 2020. These events caused significant physical and economic damage, particularly to star-rated hotels. This study aims to examine the impact of force majeure on hotel occupancy rates in Palu City, focusing on the periods preceding, during, and following both crises. Using a descriptive comparative method, the research analyzed data collected through interviews, observation, and documentation from ten selected star-rated hotels in Palu City. Quantitative data were supported by visual figures and tables that showed changes in hotel units, room availability, and occupancy levels over several years. The results indicate a sharp decline in hotel operations after each event, followed by a gradual recovery during the new normal period. Occupancy rates dropped as low as 15 per cent in 2020 but rebounded to 70–80 per cent in 2021. The study concludes that while the hospitality sector in Palu is highly vulnerable to external shocks, it also demonstrates resilience through adaptation and recovery strategies.

Abstract

Introduction: Phyllodes tumor (PT) is infrequent among breast neoplasms, representing less than 1% of all breast neoplasms, with 10% to 30% of them being malignant. The occurrence rate of malignant phyllodes tumor (MPT) is about 2.1 cases per million people.Case Presentation: We report the case of a 36-year-old female who had a significant mass in her right breast. Macroscopically, the cut surface was grayish-white with cystic areas containing a hemorrhagic mass; the tumor occupied nearly the entire breast with indistinct borders. The tumor measured 26 x 16 x 11 cm. Microscopically, the tumor exhibited a solid structure with ductal proliferation and hypercellular stroma forming a leaf-like appearance. Proliferation of fibrous connective tissue with dysplastic cell morphology and atypical mitoses was found in 10/10 high-power fields (HPFs). Malignant heterologous components included bone matrix with osteoclast-like giant cells and chondroid components. Immunohistochemical Ki-67 staining was positive in more than 20% of the cell nuclei. Conclusion: The tumor is large with unclear infiltration boundaries and contains malignant heterologous components. Immunohistochemical Ki-67 staining was positive in more than 20% of the cell nuclei, confirming this as a case of malignant phyllodes tumor. This case is notable due to its rarity, frequent recurrence, and the challenges in establishing a diagnosis and treatment regimen.

Abstract

Background Ovarian carcinoma is a cancer with high mortality in women, although comprehensive treatment with surgery and chemotherapy is at an advanced stage, survival rates are still low. GATA3 and p53 are predictors of some malignancies, but results vary in ovarian carcinoma. Objective To examine correlation between immunohistochemical expression of GATA3 and p53 in patients with ovarian carcinoma with various histopathological subtypes. Materials and Methods Cross sectional design is the method of this study conducted on slides of 28 ovarian carcinoma patients in several subtypes of hitopathology. Each slide was stained with hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) to assesses hitopathological subtypes and stained with GATA3 and p53 antibodies. Expression GATA3 was assessed using H-score and p53 quick score. A logistic regression assay (p<0.005) was used to assessed the association of GATA3 and TP53 immunohistochemical expression in several histopathological subtypes of ovarian carcinoma. Statistical analysis between GATA3 and p53 was performed using the eta correlation test is used because the data is nominal-ordinal. Results Among 28 specimens in patients with ovarian carcinoma, Cases was most prevalent in the age group >50-60 years (age range 58 years), history of nullipara parity, and most in the group of stage III ovarian malignancy. Positive immunohistochemical p53 expression is more prevalent in serous carcinoma. Positive GATA3 immunohistochemical expression is more prevalent in serous carcinoma. Conclusion There is no significant relationship. Immunohistochemical expression of GATA3 and TP53 in some histopathological subtypes of ovarian carcinoma. However, immunohistochemical expression of GATA3 high p53 positive tends to be found in high-grade serous carcinoma. Keywodrs: GATA3, p53, karsinoma ovarium, Serous carcinoma, Mucinous carcinoma, Endometrioid carcinoma, Clear cell carcinoma.
