Abstract

The Controversy of the concept of Kafir -excluding a religious group from one- is basically related to the doctrine of Religious Pluralism. Religious Pluralism relativized and nullified religious values so, by consequence, it reduced the theological concepts that existed in religions. In fact, every religion owns its own concepts regarding ‘The Other’ affirmed as its fundamental teachings. This paper will find at least two things: The concept and term of Kafir are already full-fledged in Islam, which was curtailed in the process as an impact of Religious Pluralism. Furthermore, Religious Pluralism is potentially reducing argumentations of the concepts owned in three Major Religions: Islam, Judaism, and Christianity.

Abstract

This paper highlighted the religious values of Balinese Hinduism death rituals in the framework of Anthropology. This research utilized Typological and Content analysis methods to describe the classification of the different burial ceremonies of Balinese Hindus and then analyze its message properties within the literature. Perse, it is apparent that the religious values of Balinese Hinduism death rituals consisted of Pitra Yadnya as its very essence, following the guidance of the Almighty God, Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa. This research concluded that following an Anthropological approach, the Myth of Balinese Hinduism plays a decisive role in constructing the community’s belief system, which is associated with the emergence of diverse forms of rituals. As implementing the rituals focuses on adhering to the Sacred in its relation to the surrounding profane world, it is also clear that Balinese Hinduism death rituals occupy a holistic and cultural relativism position, which is vital in the Anthropological approach.

Abstract

In itsdevelopment, Hinduism experienced many changes to its modern era. Apart from all its traditions, Hinduism tries to introduce its existence on the world stage. Reformers of modern Hinduism such as Sri Ramakrishna, Rammohun Roy, and Swami Vivekananda themselves contributed greatly to this new idea with their respective models of practice. Departing from Swami Vivekananda attending the World Religious Parliament in Chicago in 1893, he brought the vision of his spiritual teacher Sri Ramakrishna about the Harmony of Religions are true. In the Parliament, he upheld his Vedanta teachings, which have been reinterpreted according to his Ideal concept, that Vedanta is the teaching of the future. Based on its Universal concept, Vedanta is able to take the World’s attention to its teaching in the West. In an effort to realize this idea, 1897, Swami Vivekananda disseminated the religious message of his teacher by establishing the Ramakrishna Mission, an organization to strengthen and expand the Vedanta idea. Since its inception, the Ramakrishna Mission has been dedicated to improving spiritually and social service, as well as developing religious teachings.
