Abstract

Red chili (Capsicum annuum L.) is one of important types of vegetables and also has many varieties that have distinctive colors and shapes, chili is also considerd as one of vegetable that has high economic value. Chili is usually consumed in from of fresh, dried and processed as vegetables and also seasonings, in addition to functioning as a food flavor enhancer. Many obstacles faced by farmers in chili cultivation are plant disturbing organisms such as pests and diseases. Some important pests that commonly attack chili plants are fruit flies (Bactrocera spp), armyworms (Spodoptera litura) and aphids (Aphis gossypii). The purpose of this field practice was to determine the diversity of arthropods and the intensity of pest attacks in Pagaralam City on ten chili fields with different ages. This field practice is expected to provide information about arthropod diversity and attack intensity, especially to farmers as the main actors in agriculture. This insect observation method is carried out using the Diagonal sampling method, Scan sampling (Visual observation) and observing the intensity of the attack. The results of the observations obtained are that the chili farmers have carried out the concept of integrated pest management, but they are not aware of it, and the pests obtained in the field are fruit flies (Bactrocera spp), armyworms (Spodoptera litura) and aphids (Aphis gossypii), and for arthropod diversity it varies on each land.

The effect off mulch on pest attack on eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) in village  Timbangan,  Subdisctrict Indralaya North, Ogan Ilir City. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-10 Tahun 2022, Palembang 27 Oktober 2022. pp. 1023-1032. Palembang: Penerbit dan Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Eggplant is a type of vegetable that is favored by the community because besides having a good taste, it also contains lots of vitamins and nutrients. In eggplant cultivation, there are several obstacles that must be faced. This obstacle cannot be separated from the attack by plant pests. Plant damage caused by pests results in decreased production due to the growth and development phase of eggplant plants cannot grow and develop optimally. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of technical culture on the types of pests, population and intensity of pest attacks on purple eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) in Timbangan Village, Indralaya Utara District, Ogan Ilir Regency. The method used includes determining the land, determining sample plots and sample plants, as well as observing population numbers and intensity of pest attacks. The research was conducted in two eggplant fields with different plant ages. The population number and intensity of pest attacks were analyzed using the t test at the 5% confidence level. The pests found in eggplant are Spodoptera litura, Cheilomenes sexmaculata, and Atractomorpha crenulata. Statistical analysis shows that there are significant differences in the two fields due to different cultivation techniques.

Abstract

Prayoga, A., Gustiar, F.,  Marlina, M., Budianta, D., Ammar, M., Susilawati, S. (2023). Growth and yield of mustard (Brassica juncea L.) intercropping chaya plants (Cnidocolus aconitifolius) with different canopy sizes. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-11 Tahun 2023, Palembang 21 Oktober 2023. (pp. 306-317).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Intercropping is planting pattern that cultivates more than one type of plant in a certain unit of time aimed at increasing productivity. This study was conducted to examine the size of the chaya plant crown and the density of mustard plants using an intercropping system in the area of chaya plants (Cnidoscolus aconitifolius) in order to obtain optimal production and growth results. This study was conducted using a split plot design with two factors. The first factor as the main plot of the cultivation system is 3 treatments, namely conventional / monoculture (K0), intercropping on chaya plants with a header diameter of 80 cm (K1), and intercropping on chaya plants with a crown diameter of 120 cm (K2). The second factor is the density or planting distance as a child plot with a planting distance of 15 x 15 cm (P1), and a planting distance of 15 x 20 cm (P2). The data that has been obtained is then analyzed by the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) method using the R-Studio application. The results showed that the cultivation of mustard greens (B. juncea L.) tosakan variety with intercropping patterns on conventional obtained the best results. But the 80 cm chaya plant canopy is not significantly different from conventional planting patterns so it can be said that the 80 cm chaya canopy is better than the 120 cm chaya plant canopy. The optimal planting distance is a planting distance of 15 x 15 cm because it is not significantly different from a planting distance of 15 x 20 cm in terms of the quality of the results obtained. In terms of quantity, a planting distance of 15 x 15 cm will produce more production results than a planting distance of 15 x 20 cm. So it can be concluded that the cultivation of mustard greens (B. juncea L.) varieties of intercropping chaya plants (Cnidoscolus aconitifolius) can be done on the chaya crown 80 cm and with a planting distance of 15x15 cm.

Gustiar, F., Sodikin, E., Hasibuan, A.N., Alkhair, M.H., Agustin, A., Angreini, E., Pratiwi, M., & Reli, R. (2023). Growth shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) Variety bima brebes with seven composisitions of sugarcane blotong and cow manure. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-11 Tahun 2023, Palembang 21 Oktober 2023. (pp. 214-222). Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Bima brebes shallot variety is shallot variety that is widely cultivated by farmers because it is easy to grow, in recent years farmers have experienced a 50% decrease in yield due to decreased soil frtility due to chemical fertilisers, to overcome this the use of chayote blotong and cow manure can be used for shallots, this study aimed to determine the growth of shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) bima brebes varieties with seven different compositions of sugar cane blotong and cow manure. The method used was the research method of Randomized Group Design (RGD) consisting of 7 treatments, with the composition (soil: sugar cane blotong: manure) namely P0 (2:0:0), P1 (2:2:0), F (2:2.5:0.5), P3 (2:1:1), P4 (2:0.5:1.5), p5 (2:0:2), and P6 (1:1:1) analysed by variance analysis (ANOVA). The results of applying mixed manure had an effect on shallot plant height, number of leaves, fresh weight and dry weight of stalks, fresh weight of beetles, dry weight of beetles, number of bulbs, diameter of bulbs and measurement of root length, but had no significant effect on the number of seeds and greenness of leaves. Mixture of soil: sugarcane blotong: cow manure with P2 (2:1.5:0.5) was the best treatment and P5 (2:0:2) was the slowest treatment. The conclusion of this study shows that the combination of sugarcane blotong and cow manure on shallots can increase growth and production. It is recommended that further research be carried out in the field in order to obtain a more appropriate dose of shallots.

Abstract

Abstract

The majority of Tanjung Pering Village's citizens are engaged in vegetable farming. Vegetables are typically grown in gardens on dry land or in marshes on wet soil under dry conditions. Lebak swamps that are flooded for more than six months are generally not used for cultivation, as a result, parts of the village area are not useful for settlement or agriculture. The solution that can be taken is to utilize wetlands with floating cultivation, especially for vegetable crops. After Community Service Activities through mentoring and plot demonstrations, the knowledge and skills of the people of Tanjung Pering Village, North Indralaya District regarding the cultivation of floating vegetable plants can be increased. In conclusion of the activity, the community is interested in trying to cultivate floating plants.

Abstract

Environmental growth will have an impact on plant morphology. This condition also involves shading and nutrient availability for Brazilian spinach as an introduced leafy vegetable. The study aimed to evaluate Brazilian spinach growth and yield on different shading intensities and organic fertilizers. The study adopted a split-plot design with artificial shading intensities (0%, 50%, and 70%) as the main plot and the type of organic fertilizer (guano, vermicompost, liquid organic fertilizer) as the subplot. The results showed that Brazilian spinach could adapt to canopy areas. However, the Brazilian spinach growth was dominant in a no-shade environment (S0). It was evident by shoot fresh weight (SFW), stem dry weight (SDW), branch dry weight (BDW) and leaf dry weight (LDW). Guano fertilizer (F1) was an organic fertilizer that increased the observed variables, including canopy growth, nutrient and water absorption ability and absolute growth of Brazilian spinach. Although the shoot-root ratio for each single treatment did not show a significant effect. There was a significantly interaction between shade and organic fertilizer in Brazilian spinach growth for all morphological traits including shoot-root ratio. Generally, leaf growth was a positive correlation to stem (R2= 0.9918), branches (R2= 0.7258) and shoots (R2=0.9105). In conclusion, the most suitable growing environment for Brazil spinach growth and yield is in no-shading areas, while guano fertilizer application is recommended to be selected to enhance Brazil spinach growth and yield.

Abstract

Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is one of the vegetables that is widely loved because of its taste and nutritional content. The increase in lettuce production can be increased by the use of swamp land with floating cultivation during the flood season. The size of the pots used in floating system cultivation will affect the growth and number of plants that will be produced. The study aimed to determine the optimal of planting media volume on the growth and yield of lettuce in floating cultivation system. The research used a randomized block design with 4 treatments of planting media volume, namely 1.9 L (P1), 2.7 L (P2), 3.6 L(P3), and 5 L (P4). Each treatment was repeated 4 times and each replication consisted of 5 plants. The results showed that at the beginning of the growth of the media volume of 2.7 L would be faster, but at the time of harvest almost all parameters showed that plants with a media volume of 5 L produced a larger plant weight than the plant unit. Although the use of smaller volumes of media results in a smaller plant weight, the raft is able to accommodate a larger number of pots. So that the use of a media volume of 1.9 L will be better used for floating lettuce production.
