Abstract

Narratives of Muslim experiences have simultaneously influenced the knowledge and meaningon the umrah pilgrimage to become increasingly complex and contextual. The narrative of the experiences of Muslim worship on the umrah pilgrimage has not been given much scientific attention in previous studies. This study focuses on the question “What is the narrative of the experience of Muslim worship on the umrah pilgrimage?” To answer this question, this study uses a qualitative descriptive approach in exploring the knowledge, meaning, and experiences of Muslim worship on the umrah pilgrimage which is disseminated online news. The process of collecting and reading the news is focused on news headlines that contain stories and events experienced by Muslims while performing the Umrah pilgrimage. Findings in this study show that the narratives of Muslim worship experience when carrying out the umrah pilgrimage are not least influenced by spiritual and cultural values that are evaluative and reflective in nature. Based on these findings it is possible to formulate a concept of Narrative of religion as a novelty in this study. This study also recommends the importance of comparing the experiences of Muslim in carrying out the umrah and Hajj pilgrimages, in order to comprehensive and more empirical understanding.

Abstract

This article examines the transformation of methods used in commenting on hadith in the era of new media. It addresses three main questions: First, what forms does hadith commentary take in the new media era? Second, what factors have contributed to these changes in the practice of hadith commentary? Third, how has the shift in interpretive meaning occurred as a result of these evolving modes of commentary within the new media environment? The analysis is conducted using an interpretative approach. By employing these methodological steps, the study identifies emerging patterns of hadith commentary in the new media era that differ from earlier models, both in terms of presentation and analytical engagement with hadith material. This study finds, first, that the presentation of hadith commentary on Instagram reflects a significant transformation: what was once primarily text-based is now conveyed through diverse visual formats. These include captions, images, microblogs, and videos, which have revitalized a tradition of commentary that had long been stagnant and underdeveloped. Second, these changes in hadith commentary represent a scholarly response to the rapid evolution of new media technologies, including social media. Third, media technology has enabled hadith commentary—previously confined largely to printed formats—to appear across various online platforms. These accounts may be managed by institutions dedicated to hadith studies or by anonymous individuals, whether operating personally or in other capacities.

Abstract

Indonesia is known as a multicultural nation, such as culture, ethnicity, religion or anything else. As a monotheistic religion, Islam does not necessarily accept the diversity of cultures it encounters in Indonesia. Regarding amulets for example, as objects of cultural heritage that are believed to have power, Islam underlines with a red thread. The reason is, with tiny objects that are very vulnerable to bring users in polytheism. In addressing this common thread, diverse views and attitudes of Muslims emerge. This article discusses the amulet contestation in an online society. From the search results, obtained several references in the form of the Prophet's hadith, atsar companions, and opinions of scholars related to this talisman. The first two references, present information on permissibility as well as a ban on the use of talismans. While the latter is more about explaining core vocabulary which is considered as the key to understanding this issue. In terms of contestation that occurs in online communities, there are four trends that can be used as a planner of their attitude; scientific data, the objectivity of assessment, insight about talismans, and how to express opinions. Each suggests there are mutual influences and self-existence. Then at the level of their understanding of the Islamic text that exists, those who are allergic to amulets only stop at the hadith that forbids it. They are reluctant to explore more information about other traditions or explanations than the traditions they hold as the other online communities do.Keywords: Contestation, Amulet, Online Society, and Understanding Of Religion.
