Abstract

This study explores the conceptualization of linguistic context as cybertextual, a multimodal and digitally mediated construct within the framework of post-functional linguistics. It argues that digital communication extends linguistic boundaries, integrating visual, gestural, aural, spatial, and textual modes in meaning-making. Anchored in mindful deep learning, mindfulness is viewed not only as cognitive awareness but as a pedagogical stance that nurtures attentiveness, emotional regulation, and reflective engagement with multimodal semiotic resources. The study aims to (1) classify diverse forms of cybertextual context and (2) interpret their functional identities through mindful learning. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, it analyzes authentic data from Instagram to examine meaning construction through semiotic layering. Employing extralinguistic equivalence analysis, the research identifies five interrelated modalities—visual, gestural, aural, spatial, and linguistic—each contributing distinctively to interactional meaning. The integration of mindful deep learning within this model reveals how learners can cultivate semiotic sensitivity, interpretive accuracy, and empathetic communication in digital environments. The study advances post-functional linguistic theory and provides pedagogical insights for fostering critical and ethical language awareness in multimodal, digitally enriched learning settings.

Abstract

This qualitative descriptive study aims to explore the pragmatic significance of rarely researched Javanese silly gags. The primary objective is to examine the markers and implications of these gags in daily communication, particularly focusing on their various categories. Utilizing social media fragments as the primary source, the research employs the note-taking method for listening. Subsequent steps include the identification, classification, and characterization of Javanese silly gags into five distinct categories: (1) Silly jokes for enthusiasm, (2) Silly jokes for sarcasm, (3) Silly jokes for satire, (4) Silly jokes for exasperation, and (5) Silly jokes for enigmatic humor. The equivalent analysis method is then applied, specifically using contextual equivalents through a comparative linking technique for in-depth data analysis. The emphasis on context is considered a crucial factor in conducting purpose-oriented pragmatic studies. The analysis reveals valuable insights into the diverse functions of Javanese silly gags, showcasing their significance in daily communication. The identified categories provide a comprehensive understanding of how these gags serve various purposes, from expressing enthusiasm to conveying sarcasm, satire, exasperation, and enigmatic humor. The social media fragments prove to be rich sources for uncovering the nuances of Javanese silly gags and their markers. The findings of this study shed light on the multifaceted nature of Javanese silly gags, highlighting their importance in preserving a unique form of humor. The study emphasizes the potential threat posed by the younger generation’s lack of comprehension. It underscores the need to preserve and understand Javanese silly gags in the evolving landscape of communication. Overall, this research contributes to the broader understanding of pragmatic aspects in Javanese humor, emphasizing the cultural and communicative significance of these often-overlooked forms of expression.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the urgency of developing educational pragmatics textbooks integrated with multimodality. This research uses mixed-method research. The subjects of this research are students, alumni, and documents in the form of semester learning plans for educational pragmatics courses. The data obtained were the results of filling out questionnaires and the results of document analysis. The data collection techniques used were questionnaires and literature studies. This research uses qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze the data obtained. Questionnaire data were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative, while the results of document analysis were analyzed using qualitative. Based on the research, the researcher found that 62% of students and alumni had difficulty understanding educational pragmatics. To help students there are already several books that help, such as educational pragmatics textbooks and reference books. However, these books have not been integrated with multimodality, so students still have difficulty understanding educational pragmatics. Therefore, educational pragmatics teaching materials that are integrated with multimodality are needed. This is supported by the questionnaire given that 97% of students and alumni strongly agree that the development of multimodality integrated educational pragmatics textbooks in learning for students is important and urgent. With the multimodality-based educational pragmatics textbook, students find it easier to understand educational pragmatics.

Abstract

Abstract

Damage to the natural environment caused by exploitation, deforestation and uncontrolled deforestation is also a major concern. The Indonesian Language Education Study Program at the Masters Program, Sanata Dharma University has included the Ecolinguistics course since its establishment in 2015. The purpose of this research was formulated as follow: Describe the feasibility of developing a Naturalistic Ecolinguistic learning model in the perspective of Green Ecology. The research and development steps follow the model proposed by Borg and Gall consisting of the following stages: a) The initial stage involves research and data collection by collecting relevant information to formulate a product design framework. b) The planning stage involves making a product development plan. c) The product draft development stage involves the initial development of the ecolinguistic learning model design. d) The initial field trial phase involved limited field trials to collect data to be used as a basis for product design revisions. e) The main product revision stage. f) The main field trial phase involves a wider trial of the ecolinguistic learning model design product. g) The product improvement stage based on field test results involves product design improvements based on input from field trials. h) The field implementation test phase involves testing the product design. i) The final product improvement stage. j) The dissemination and implementation phase focuses on disseminating the ecolinguistic learning model. The research results showed that 43% of respondents stated that it was suitable for use with revisions according to the notes and 57% of respondents stated that it was suitable for use without revisions. Thus, it can be concluded that the ecolinguistic learning model for the Indonesian Language Education Masters Program is feasible to implement without revision.
