Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the form and pragmatic meaning of visual ostentivity in the cybertext context of socio-political hate speech in public spaces from a critical pragmatic perspective. This study is a qualitative study. The object of this study is the visual ostentivity of the cybertext context. The research data were excerpts of speech in social media which contain forms and pragmatic meanings of visual ostentivity in the cybertext context. The data source for this study was social media on various platforms found in public spaces, especially virtual public spaces which contain data on visual ostentivity in the cybertext context. Data were collected using the listening method and the listening was carried out using the note-taking technique. Recording was carried out by paying attention to the multimodality-based cybertext context before data classification and typification were carried out. Triangulation was carried out with an investigation model carried out by related experts. Data analysis was carried out by applying distributional methods and equivalent methods, especially extralingual. The distributional analysis method was used to reach the linguistic dimensions of this study. The extralingual equivalent analysis method was used to reach its pragmatic dimensions. The steps of data analysis were identification, classification, interpretation, and ending with the presentation of the analysis results. This study found five forms of visual ostentivity in the cybertext context. The five forms of ostentivity were presented below: (1) Visual Ostentivity in Cybertext Context with Pragmatic Meaning of Insult, (2) Visual Ostentivity in Cybertext Context with Pragmatic Meaning of Blasphemy, (3) Visual Ostentivity in Cybertext Context with Pragmatic Meaning of Mockery, (4) Visual Ostentivity in Cybertext Context with Pragmatic Meaning of Satire, (5) Visual Ostentivity in Cybertext Context with Pragmatic Meaning of Insult.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada pentingnya penggunaan media dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) di Level A-1. Penelitian kuantitatif ini dilakukan di SMK Bunda Mulia, yang berlokasi di Jalan AM Sangaji No. 20, Petojo Utara, Gambir, Jakarta Pusat, DKI Jakarta. Populasi yang menjadi subjek penelitian ini terdiri dari siswa WNA China, siswa WNA Tiongkok, dan para pengajar BIPA. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuesioner, yang disebarkan kepada peserta didik dan pengajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media dalam pembelajaran BIPA dapat meningkatkan antusiasme pemelajar. Integrasi media dalam proses belajar mengajar terbukti memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap minat dan motivasi siswa dalam mempelajari bahasa Indonesia. Temuan ini menggarisbawahi pentingnya pemanfaatan teknologi dan media sebagai alat bantu dalam pengajaran BIPA, yang tidak hanya membuat pembelajaran lebih menarik tetapi juga lebih efektif.

Abstract

This study aims to find informational layers in the ostentive communication of fake news and to find the types of intent in ostentive communication. The objects of this study are layers of information and intuitive intents in ostentive communication. The data of this study are in the form of excerpts of speech containing layers of information and types of intent in ostentive communication. The source of substantive data for this study is fake news as a manifestation of social texts that are present on social media. Data were obtained by applying the listening method, especially listening which is free of conversation, supported by the understanding of reading and note-taking techniques. The data that has been collected is then classified and typed to facilitate analysis. The analysis was carried out by applying the matching method, especially extralingual matching. The matching method in this study cannot be separated from the context. The steps in data analysis are (1) identifying, (2) reducing, (3) interpreting, and (4) drawing conclusions. This study produces research findings on layers of information and types of intuitive intent in ostentive communication as follows (1) informational layer with intuitive intent to provoke, (2) to worsen the atmosphere, (3) to defame, (4) to insult someone, and (5) informational layer with intuitive intent to incite.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Pendidikan anak usia dini memerlukan inovasi media pembelajaran yang menarik dan sesuai dengan perkembangan mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan kebutuhan pengembangan buku cerita bergambar berbasis multimodal dan pendekatan permainan edukatif untuk membantu anak usia dini memperoleh bahasa. Penelitian ini berjenis deskriptif kuantitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner berskala likert yang dibagikan kepada 43 pendidik dan 17 orang tua siswa. Data tersebut kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik statistik deskriptif sederhana dan hasil analisis disajikan dalam bentuk persentase yang dilengkapi dengan ilustrasi diagram batang. Secara ringkas, hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hasil survei berdasarkan tingkat persetujuan responden terhadap suatu pernyataan kuesioner. Sebagian kecil responden menyatakan sangat tidak setuju, 0,00% tidak setuju, 0,30% tidak setuju, 2,12% netral, 55,30% setuju, dan 42,27% sangat setuju dengan pernyataan tersebut. Sebagian besar responden cenderung setuju atau sangat setuju, dengan persentase tertinggi terdapat pada kategori setuju 55,30% dan sangat setuju 42,27%, menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas memiliki pandangan positif terhadap pernyataan tersebut. Kata kunci: Buku cerita bergambar, multimodalitas, pembelajaran bahasa, anak usia dini, permainan edukatif   ABSTRACT Early childhood education requires innovation in learning media that is interesting and by their development. This study aims to describe the need for the development of multimodal-based picture storybooks and educational game approaches to help early childhood acquire language. This study is a quantitative descriptive study. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed to 43 educators and 17 parents of students. The data were then analyzed using simple descriptive statistical techniques, and the results of the analysis were presented in the form of percentages accompanied by bar chart illustrations. In summary, the results of this study indicate that the survey results are based on the level of respondent agreement with a questionnaire statement. A small number of respondents stated that they strongly disagreed, 0.00% disagreed, 0.30% disagreed, 2.12% were neutral, 55.30% agreed, and 42.27% strongly agreed with the statement. Most respondents tended to agree or strongly agree, with the highest percentage in the agreed category of 55.30% and strongly agree 42.27%, indicating that the majority had a positive view of the statement. Abstract

This research on phatic communion is aimed at describing the forms and the pragmatic meanings of phatic language in Indonesian society, especially in the educational domain. Based on its pragmatic meanings, the utterance in the educational domain can be categorized into five pragmatic meanings, namely (a) phatic function in utterances of acceptance, (b) phatic function in the form of utterances of rejection, (c) phatic function in the form of utterances of invitation, (d) phatic function in the form of utterances of thanking, and  (e) phatic function in the form of utterance of greeting.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan karakteristik kebutuhan bahan ajar dan media pembelajaran dalam pembelajaran BIPA bermuatan budaya Yogyakarta bagi penutur asing tingkat pemula, mengembangkan bahan ajar BIPA bermuatan budaya Yogyakarta bagi penutur asing tingkat pemula, dan mendeskripsikan penilaian bahan ajar BIPA bermuatan budaya Yogyakarta bagi penutur asing tingkat pemula. Kuantitatif deskriptif digunakan sebagai metode dalam penelitian ini. Penggunaan media pembelajaran teknologi menjadi salah satu hal yang penting untuk diperhatikkan. Melalui penggunaan media, pemelajar BIPA terkhusus untuk tingkat pemula usia anak akan lebih mudah untuk mempelajari materi BIPA. Setelah dilakukan pengumpulan dan pengolahan data, diperoleh skor 3,6 pada poin media pembelajaran teknologi, serta skor 3,8 pada poin media audio visual. Manfaat penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana tingkat keperluan media pembelajaran berbasis teknologi dalam pembelajaran BIPA tingkat pemula usia anak.

Abstract

This study aims to explore gestural multimodality, which includes hand signals, facial expressions, and body postures, within the context of cybertext. It examines how multimodal, gestural-based communication alters meaning in social media environments. This research is qualitative in nature and utilizes a content analysis approach. The data is sourced from social media text, which is classified and analyzed contextually. The research instruments include data collection through observation and text analysis of multimodal elements. Data analysis is conducted using a multimodal pragmatics approach to evaluate the role of gestural context in online communication. The results of this study identify five roles of gestural context in cybertext: (1) the utilization of gestural context as a basis for individual meaning-making, (2) the implementation of gestural context as a foundation for collective assumptions, (3) the incorporation of gestural context to highlight significance, (4) the integration of gestural context for verification purposes, and (5) the inclusion of gestural context to serve as a means of validation in digital communication.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology has significantly influenced the field of linguistics, particularly pragmatics, by expanding its scope from traditional intra-linguistic factors to encompass extralinguistic contexts such as social, cultural, situational, and cyber dimensions. This shift has ushered in functionalistic and post-functionalistic approaches in Indonesia, broadening the field to include semantic, cultural, cognitive, and cyber pragmatics. This study investigates how visual multimodal cybertext contexts in Indonesian digital media affect the interpretation of speech intent. This research draws on five selected visual, multimodal text excerpts from social media collected through free-flowing listening and note-taking, and it employs distributional and extralinguistic analysis methods. The findings reveal three primary roles of visual elements in cybertext: (1) typographic visuals that clarify background context for intended meaning, (2) visual icons that aid in contextual explanation, and (3) illustrative visuals that enhance understanding of the communicated message. These visual components are essential in facilitating accurate interpretation and engagement with speech acts in digital spaces. Addressing the gaps in understanding these elements can enhance communication strategies in Indonesian digital media, supporting clearer interaction and comprehension in a multicultural digital environment. This research contributes to the evolving field of cyber pragmatics by demonstrating the need for effective multimodal approaches to digital communication, especially in diverse sociocultural settings.

Abstract

This research aims to elucidate the pragmatic significance of employing numerical wordplay with humorous undertones from a cyber-text semio-pragmatics perspective. Social media serves as the primary data source, with textual content featuring instances of numerical wordplay with comedic elements constituting the substantive data. Data collection involved reading and note-taking techniques, followed by identification, selection, classification, and typification to distinguish between suitable and unsuitable data for analysis. Triangulation was employed to validate the data, involving both experts in the field and relevant theoretical frameworks. Contextual analysis was utilized as the analytical method to uncover the pragmatic meanings embedded within the use of numerical wordplay. The findings reveal various pragmatic functions, including concealing speech intent, maintaining secrecy, easing speech delivery, playful engagement, manipulation of speech intent, and inviting humor with speech partners. This research contributes theoretically to the advancement of pragmatics and cyber-pragmatics as interdisciplinary fields within linguistics, particularly in the realm of digital communication. Furthermore, it offers practical implications for fostering further research in pragmatics, especially in the emerging field of cyber-pragmatics, which warrants further exploration and scholarly attention.   Permainan Kata Numerik dalam Komunikasi Digital: Sebuah Studi Linguistik Korpus tentang Pragmatik SiberPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan signifikansi pragmatis dari penggunaan permainan kata numerik dengan nada humor dari perspektif semio-pragmatik teks siber. Media sosial berfungsi sebagai sumber data utama, dengan konten tekstual yang menampilkan contoh permainan kata numerik dengan elemen komedi yang merupakan data substantif. Pengumpulan data melibatkan teknik membaca dan mencatat, diikuti oleh identifikasi, pemilihan, klasifikasi, dan tipifikasi untuk membedakan antara data yang sesuai dan tidak sesuai untuk analisis. Triangulasi digunakan untuk memvalidasi data, melibatkan para ahli di lapangan dan kerangka teoritis yang relevan. Analisis kontekstual digunakan sebagai metode analisis untuk mengungkap makna pragmatis yang tertanam dalam penggunaan permainan kata numerik. Temuan tersebut mengungkapkan berbagai fungsi pragmatis, termasuk menyembunyikan maksud ujaran, menjaga kerahasiaan, memudahkan penyampaian ujaran, keterlibatan yang menyenangkan, manipulasi maksud ujaran, dan mengundang humor dengan mitra tutur. Penelitian ini berkontribusi secara teoritis terhadap kemajuan pragmatik dan pragmatik siber sebagai bidang interdisipliner dalam linguistik, khususnya dalam bidang komunikasi digital. Lebih jauh, penelitian ini menawarkan implikasi praktis untuk mendorong penelitian lebih lanjut dalam pragmatik, khususnya dalam bidang cyber-pragmatik yang sedang berkembang, yang memerlukan eksplorasi lebih lanjut dan perhatian ilmiah.

Abstract

The writing of this article aims to describe the meaning of the symbol of traditional bridal clothing and the function of traditional bridal clothing of the Dayak Kenyah tribe in East Kalimantan. The formulation of this research problem is how to group the meaning of symbols in traditional wedding clothing accessories of the Dayak Kenyah tribe and what are the functions of traditional bridal clothing accessories in the life of the Dayak Kenyah tribe in East Kalimantan. The research method used in this study is an ethnographic method with simplification of steps according to research needs. Data collection and data analysis methods in the form of interviews and literature studies. The results of the study show that there is a symbolic meaning found in the traditional wedding dress accessories of the Dayak Kenyah tribe.
