Abstract

Critical thinking in education has been widely practiced following the awareness that it helps a lot the students specifically in science subjects. In accordance with critical thinking ability in science, students who show ability on critical thinking will successfully cope with problems they encounter. Such ability hopefully works in their learning achievement. The objective of this research is to investigate the influence of creative and critical thinking on the achievement of the students of the Department of Primary Education IKIP PGRI Madiun in the class of Science Concepts II. The current study makes use of the descriptive correlational. As many as 191students enrolled the class of science concepts II in the academic year 2012/2013, out of 366 populations, serve as the sample through the proportional random sampling technique. Tests were administered to collect the data analyzed by applying descriptive analysis of double regression to assess the hypothesis in which SPSS PASW Statistics 18 was applied. Results show that there is significant correlation on the variables of creative and critical thinking on their achievement. The creative thinking contributes 20.13% while the critical thinking contribution is 21.53%. Other variables beyond this research contribute 58.34%.Key words: Creative Thinking Ability, Critical Thinking, Student Achievement

Abstract

Karakter positif harus dimiliki oleh seorang guru terutama guru SD yang menjadi ujung tombak pendidikan dasar. Pembentukan karakter positif pada calon guru SD seharusnya dimulai dari proses perkuliahan. Gejala yang ditunjukkan oleh mahasiswa semester 2 Prodi PGSD IKIP PGRI Madiun adalah kurangnya karakter positif yang terbukti dengan banyaknya mahasiswa yang terlambat dalam mengikuti proses perkuliahan, mengumpulka tugas, dan kurang proaktifnya mahasiswa terhadap perkembangan yang terjadi dalam dunia kampus. Untuk itu diperlukan penyelesaian masalah melalui penelitian tindakan yang secara umum bertujuan untuk mengembangkan karakter. Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa (LKM) sebagai salah satu sarana perkuliahan dipilih sebagai alternatif pemecahan masalah. LKM yang dimaksud dalam penelitian ini adalah LKM terbimbing berbasis inquiry sehingga dalam proses perkuliahan mahasiswa dapat menemukan konsep secara mandiri kemudian proses pembimbingan dilakukan untuk meluruskan konsep yang salah serta melakukan praktik secara langsung untuk memupuk keterampilan berbahasa mahasiswa. Karena penelitian yang digunakan untuk memecahkan masalah adalah penelitian tindakan kelas, maka dalam penelitian ini diambil kelas yang paling bermasalah dalam hal karakter. Berdasarkan pengamatan awal, kelas yang paling bermasalah dalam hal ini adalah kelas 2G. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa setelah proses perkuliahan dengan LKM ini berlangsung, mahasiswa yang semula diindikasikan bermasalah dalam hal disiplin dan keaktifan menunjukkan perkembangan disiplin dan keaktifan yang baik. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan LKM terbimbing berbasis inquiry memang efektif untuk mengembangkan karakter. Kata Kunci: Karakter, LKM

Abstract

This  research  is  attempted  to:   (1)   describe   the   steps   of   the development of  local-wisdom-based integrated teaching media; (2) describe the quality of the local-wisdom-based teaching media; (3) describe the implementation of local-wisdom-based teaching media; and (4) describe the impacts of the implementation of local-wisdom- based  teaching  media.  The  method  of  the  research  is  Dick  and Carey’s model of Research and Development, which frames the development of teaching instruments. The objects of the research are the developed teaching instruments, and the subjects are 10 students of Balerejo II and 30 students of Balerejo IV. The data are analyzed descriptively by using observation record for the teaching events, and appraisal technique for the teaching instruments. The results of the analysis  show  that:  (1)  the  teaching  instruments  can  be  well- developed being measured by the Dick and Carey’s model, which are scored as: 4.22 for Lesson Plan, 4.5 for Media, 4.14 for Teacher’s Guide, 4.26 for Book, and 3.96 Student Work Sheets; (2) the quality of the local-wisdom media is good; (3) the implementation of the model is  good,  by  89.75% of  the  application  of  lesson  plan  in  the fisrt meeting and 91.01% in the second meeting. Students’  response is good, by 40.6 (agree) and 41.2 (very much agree). Teacher’s activities are good in response to the suggested activities of the lesson plan. Students’ activities are good with 99.41% of the activities are relevant to lesson plan, and the average achievement raise significantly. (4) Supporting factors cope with students’ experience in learning amusingly without disturbing contact to their mates. Some disadvantagous factors can be resolved by teacher’s improvisations. Abstract

The character is a distinctive personality of each individual to live and work,both in the scope of the family, community, nation and state. Arts and culture inelementary school in 2004 as a core curriculum capacity building in the field ofaesthetics has a potential role to support and realize the whole Indonesian humancharacter. This study describes the implementation and building constraints positivecharacter of students in arts and culture in SDN Jogodayuh 1, District Geger, MadisonCounty. This study used a qualitative research design with a phenomenologicalapproach. Triangulation of data is done by using triangulation and triangulationmethods. The results of this study indicate that many of the benefits obtained by thestudents in the study of art and culture in primary schools include: (1) deepenwonderfully flavors, (2) knowledge of the objective and subjective elements, (3)strengthen the love for the arts and culture, (4) foster subtlety of flavor, (5) deepen theculture, (6) assess the work of art, (7) awareness on the negative effects, (8) to strengthenpublic confidence, (9) discipline, and (10) provide extensive insight and provision forspiritual and psychological life.Keywords: character education, elementary school, learning art and culture.
