Abstract

Character education in early childhood is crucial in shaping children's personalities and attitudes from an early age. However, many children still struggle to understand character values due to the lack of engaging and culturally relevant learning media. This study aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of the Megafest Lupis Raksasa storybook in instilling noble character values and a spirit of tolerance in early childhood. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The subjects of this study were 15 children aged 4-6 years at TK Batik Wonopringgo, Pekalongan, while the object of the study was a culturally based storybook. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation, utilizing an instrument framework to assess children's character aspects. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques to identify patterns in children's character development. The findings indicate that using a culturally based storybook enhances children's understanding of character values such as sharing, cooperation, and respecting differences. This study recommends integrating culturally based media into the early childhood education curriculum and providing training for educators to optimize the use of culturally relevant learning media.

Abstract

Inter-ethnic marriage influences parenting practices, particularly in multicultural societies like Indonesia. This study analyzes how cultural negotiation shapes parenting among inter-ethnic Muslim couples specifically between Javanese and non-Javanese partners in Borobudur District, Magelang Regency. Using an intrinsic case study approach, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation to explore how these couples develop parenting strategies that integrate local cultural values with Islamic educational principles. Findings reveal that cultural negotiation occurs through two main strategies: compromise and consensus. These processes are shaped by childhood experiences, gender-based power dynamics, and extended family solidarity. The negotiations result in diverse parenting styles, including authoritative, authoritarian, and permissive approaches. This study highlights parenting as a social practice formed through the interplay of cultural dominance and collective solidarity. Theoretically, it contributes to the literature on cross-cultural parenting in Muslim families and offers insights for developing inclusive family education policies in multicultural contexts.

Abstract

Background : Innovative learning methods are essential in early childhood education to support their holistic development, encompassing cognitive, social, emotional, and physical aspects. However, the implementation of monotonous learning methods often reduces children's interest in learning. The Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model offers a relevant approach to enhancing children's creativity and collaborative skills.Aim.:This study aims to analyze the implementation of PjBL in improving the creativity and collaboration skills of early childhood learners and to provide practical guidance for educators.Methode:This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation.Result : The findings reveal that the implementation of PjBL through thematic, partial, and occasional approaches is effective in enhancing children's engagement in the learning process. Children demonstrated improved creativity, independence, and collaboration skills. Teachers also played a significant role as facilitators throughout the project implementation process.Conclusion.: This research provides a new contribution by exploring the implementation of PjBL in a local context, specifically in early childhood education in Indonesia. It bridges the gap between theory and practice, which has previously focused more on general applications without emphasizing children's creativity and collaboration. These findings support the development of the Merdeka Curriculum by prioritizing active, collaborative, and contextual learning relevant to the developmental needs of early childhood learners. Thus, PjBL proves to be a relevant learning model, encouraging active exploration, mastery of 21st-century skills, and meaningful learning experiences, while simultaneously serving as a solution to improve the quality of learning aligned with children's developmental needs.

Abstract

This article explores "Syair Ibarat dan Khabar Kiamat" by Syeikh Abdurrahman Shiddiq as a valuable resource for Islamic education and the promotion of religious moderation among young children, deeply rooted in local wisdom. Employing a qualitative-hermeneutic approach, the study reveals that the syair conveys essential Islamic values, including the shahādah (testimony of faith), ṣalāh (prayer), ṣawm (fasting), zakāh (almsgiving), and ḥajj (pilgrimage). Furthermore, it advocates for values of moderation such as tolerance, patriotism, resistance to radicalism, and cultural adaptability. The analysis draws upon various theoretical frameworks, including al-Attas's concept of ta'dīb, Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences, Gadamer's philosophical hermeneutics, Nurcholish Madjid's inclusive Islam, Lickona's character education, and the value clarification technique (VCT). The findings indicate that the syair functions not only as a piece of religious poetry but also as a culturally embedded moral resource that shapes children’s spirituality. It harmonizes Islamic teachings with cultural traditions and fosters a sense of national identity. Consequently, this syair can serve as an effective pedagogical strategy for promoting contextual and moderate Islamic character education in early childhood settings.

Abstract

The digital era has significantly transformed the educational landscape, including at the Early Childhood Education (Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini/PAUD) level, where teachers are expected to master content, pedagogy, and technology integration. However, many PAUD teachers still face challenges in effectively combining these three aspects in their teaching practices. This study aims to describe the Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) competency level of PAUD teachers in digital-based learning. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, the study involved six teachers from three Raudhatul Athfal (RA, Islamic early childhood education institutions) in Butuh District, Purworejo Regency. Data were collected through observation and documentation using instruments that covered seven TPACK dimensions: Technological Knowledge (TK), Pedagogical Knowledge (PK), Content Knowledge (CK), Technological Pedagogical Knowledge (TPK), Technological Content Knowledge (TCK), Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK), and the comprehensive TPACK. The findings revealed that the overall TPACK mastery of PAUD teachers was in the good category, with an average score of 84.44%. The highest-scoring dimension was the integrated TPACK, while the lowest was PCK, indicating a need for improvement in objectively assessing children’s learning processes and outcomes. These results highlight the ability of RA teachers to integrate technology, pedagogy, and content in digital-based learning and underscore the importance of continuous training and mentoring to enhance their TPACK competencies in meeting the demands of 21st-century education.

Abstract

Anak usia dini merupakan tahap penting dalam setiap perkembanganya untuk kehidupan selanjutnya. Anak-anak memperoleh pengalaman dalam mengenali dunia di sekitarnya sambil bermain. Melalui stimulasi yang ada di sekitar mereka, perkembangan kognitif anak akan berkembang dengan pesat. Dalam mengembangkan kemampuan kognitif anak usia 4-5 tahun, bisa menggunakan Alat Permainan Edukatif (APE) seperti teka-teki ular tangga. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif anak usia 4-5 tahun. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa Media Teka-teki ular tangga dapat membantu guru dalam menyampaikan materi pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif anak usia dini. Proses stimulasi kognitif berlangsung lebih alami dan membuat belajar lebih menyenangkan bagi anak-anak saat mereka tanpa sadar menyebutkan angka yang telah mereka lewati atau saat mereka melempar dadu.

Abstract

This literature review aims to explore and analyze the application of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) Learning Model in the Implementation of the Independent Curriculum in Early Childhood Islamic Education. Through a literature review approach, this research aims to identify the benefits of PjBL in forming creativity, clean and healthy lifestyles, social skills, and critical thinking abilities in young children. In relation to the Independent Curriculum, this study also evaluates the extent to which PjBL is in accordance with curriculum principles which emphasize character, creativity and independence. The research focus is also focused on the impact of PjBL on early childhood Islamic education, by assessing its influence on the development of Islamic character, understanding religious values, and children's involvement in the learning process. The results of this literature review are expected to provide strategic insight for the implementation of PjBL in Independent Curriculum in Early Childhood Islamic Education. As a contribution to educational literature, this study is expected to provide a theoretical and practical basis for the development of relevant and effective learning methods in the context of early childhood Islamic education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the Individual Learning Program/PPI to formulate a learning process based on an assessment made of student profiles. PPI implementation is expected to optimize the abilities of heterogeneous children in the Mutiara Yogyakarta Integrated PAUD. This research is qualitative research with a field study with a descriptive research type. The data sources used were primary data, namely from teachers and students at the Mutiara Yogyakarta Integrated PAUD, and secondary data from books, journals, magazines, and documentation by this study. The data collection tools for this research were interviews with PAUD teachers, observation of individual learning programs, and documentation of Field Learning Programs. Data analysis was done using the triangulation method by sorting, grouping, and concluding. The research results on the Individual Learning Program implemented at the Mutiara Yogyakarta Integrated PAUD are four: planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up. The PPI concept aligns with one of the Pearl Pillars of Integrated PAUD Education, as a Child-Centered. All activity programs are designed based on the needs and conditions of the child, with individual attention. PPI planning is carried out by involving a written agreement with the parents. In this case, parents are involved in program design and implementation.

Abstract

Children in preschool who are five or six years old and preparing to start primary school are under pressure to have good reading, writing, and math skills, which forces them to pick things up quickly. Due to cognitive skill delays, children require engaging media that adheres to both the Pancasila student profile and the autonomous curriculum. For example, STEAM-based PjBL can be used to enhance the academic abilities of children between the ages of five and six. The study approach employs a quantitative experimental design to ascertain whether variable X has an impact on variable Y. Children's cognitive capacities as variable (Y) and STEAM-based project-based learning (PjBL) as variable X. The 40-student An-Nur 2 Kindergarten serves as the research site. Because random sampling is used in the sampling technique, every member of the population has the chance to be included in the sample, which is picked at random. An observation form on the cognitive capacities of children aged 5 to 6 is used as a research tool. In this study, t-tests, homogeneity, and normality tests were used in the data analysis process. According to research findings, children's cognitive abilities are significantly impacted by STEAM-based Project Based Learning (PjBL). Before going to the elementary school level, STEAM-based PjBL learning activities can serve as a stimulus for kids to work through issues and challenges in learning calistung. Since children's cognitive abilities influence the STEAM system by 60%, it is deemed to be fairly effective for use with children between the ages of 5 and 6 based on the N-Gain score criteria.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of innovation and creativity among students in utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to complete academic assignments, as well as to identify the ethical challenges and risks involved. A qualitative phenomenological approach was used, involving eight active students from the Early Childhood Islamic Education (PIAUD) program who frequently use platforms such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, Canva AI, and DALL-E. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model. The findings reveal that students use AI not only for technical efficiency but also as a medium to express creativity in essay writing, language editing, and visual media production. However, ethical issues arise, including technological dependency and uncertainty about the authenticity of AI-assisted academic work. This research contributes significantly to the development of AI literacy programs and institutional policies in higher education, promoting responsible AI use while reinforcing students’ independent thinking and learning.
