Abstract

Mental health among university students has become a major concern in higher education, particularly in the post-pandemic era, which has left students facing various academic, social, and psychological pressures. Unfortunately, efforts for early detection of mental health issues on campus remain limited, especially in the context of Muslim students who live within an Islamic cultural framework. This study offers an innovative approach by integrating advanced machine learning technology with the depth of Islamic educational values to develop an early detection system that is not only accurate but also humanistic and contextually relevant. The dataset for this study was obtained through a survey of 127 students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kudus, including variables related to psychological conditions and the intensity of religious practices, used to detect whether students experience mental health problems or maintain good mental health. The research methodology includes data collection, preprocessing, feature analysis, model development using classification algorithms such as Random Forest, SVM, KNN, and Decision Tree, model performance optimization using GridSearchCV, and evaluation. Evaluation of the four models indicated that prior to optimization, SVM and KNN achieved the best performance, both with an accuracy of 88.46%. After optimization with GridSearchCV, SVM became the top-performing model, achieving an accuracy improvement of more than 5%, reaching 94.05%. Feature analysis revealed that levels of anxiety, fatigue, and religious practices such as prayer and dhikr were the primary determinants in mapping students’ mental health conditions. These findings suggest that Islamic values such as tawakkul (trust in God), sabr (patience), and syukur (gratitude) are not merely theological concepts but can also serve as scientific instruments, converted into predictive features in data-driven technologies. This study demonstrates that an SVM model optimized with GridSearchCV is effective in detecting university students’ mental health and has the potential to serve as an early warning system in Islamic campus settings.

Abstract

lappaceum leaves (Nephelium lappaceum L.) possess antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant, properties due to the presence of secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins, and terpenoids. This study aimed to formulate a mouthwash preparation from rambutan leaf extract and avaluate is antibacterial activity against Streptococcus mutans, in the process of extracting rambutan leaves using 70% ethanol with the UAE method (Ultrasonic Assisted Extraction), rambutan leaf extracts were subjected to phytochemical screening examinations that include flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids, tannins, and terpenoids. The type of research conducted was experimental in the laboratory with the formulation of rambutan leaf extract (Nephelium lappaceum L) in mouthwash preparations using a concentration of 5% for F1, 10% for F2 and 15% for F3, the mouthwash preparations were subjected to physicochemical tests including organoleptic tests of pH, homogeneity, specific gravity, and viscosity. Antibacterial activity testing was carried out using the well diffusion method. The results of the research on the mouthwash formulation from rambutan leaf extract showed good physical organoleptic quality, pH, homogeneity, specific gravity, and viscosity of the preparation. In testing the antibacterial activity of the mouthwash preparation, the inhibition zone value at F0 did not have an inhibition zone; F1 6.92 (moderate) mm; F2 8.83 (moderate) mm; F3 11.00 mm (strong); and positive control 22.73 mm (strong), these results indicate that the higher the extract, the higher the inhibition zone produced.

Abstract

Longan leaves (Dimocarpus longan L.) contain secondary metabolite compounds flavonoids, tannins, saponins, alkaloids that can be used as antibacterials in making gel preparations. Longan leaf extract gel preparations can be used as a substitute for gel preparations with excess conventional ingredients, safe for the skin and long-term use. The purpose of this study was to analyze the antibacterial activity of longan leaf extract gel preparations against Staphylococcus aureus. Longan leaf extract was extracted using 96% ethanol solvent by Ultrasound Assisted Extraction (UAE) method at 40 ℃ for 20 minutes. Qualitative testing of metabolite compounds includes flavonoids, tannins, saponins and alkaloids. Longan leaf extract gel preparations were formulated with concentrations of F1 (2%), F2 (4%), F3 (6%). Antibacterial activity was tested using the well diffusion method by forming wells on the surface of the agar medium. The data obtained were analyzed using the One-Way ANOVA test to obtain the average value and showed significant differences. The results of the longan leaf extract gel preparation formulation study showed that the physical quality of the preparation met the requirements. In the antibacterial activity test of the gel preparation, the inhibition zone value F0 was found to be no inhibition zone; F1 (2%) 6.56 ± 1.338 mm (moderate); F2 (4%) 8.45 ± 1.131 mm (moderate); F3 (6%) 9.29 ± 1.130 mm (moderate); positive control gel clindamycin phosphate 1% 26.73 ± 0.335 mm (very strong) and negative control distilled water had no inhibition zone. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that longan leaf extract gel has potential as an antibacterial against Staphylococcus aureus which is significantly different (<0.05).

Abstract

Black garlic is the product of fermenting fresh garlic (Allium sativum L.), which is rich in bioactive compounds such as S-allyl cysteine, polyphenols, and flavonoids with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. These compounds have potential as nephroprotectors against gentamicin-induced kidney damage. This narrative review seeks to consolidate evidence regarding black garlic's nephroprotective mechanisms, dose-response patterns in gentamicin-induced nephrotoxicity, and its impact on body weight variations. Literature was sourced from PubMed, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, and Sinta, covering the publication period 2020–2025, using the keywords black garlic; nephroprotective; nephrotoxicity; and Allium sativum. The results of the review indicate that S-allyl cysteine and flavonoids act by inhibiting ROS and increasing SOD, GPx, and CAT; suppressing NF-kB accompanied by a decrease in TNF-alpha and IL-6; regulation of the Bcl-2/Bax ratio along with caspase-3 suppression, plus enhanced renal hemodynamics through nitric oxide.
