Abstract

This study aims to measure the achievement of science learning outcomes of fourth grade students of SD Negeri Trans Ciptodadi after the application of the Inside Outside Circle learning model. The method used is a quantitative method with an experimental approach with the design used is a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest type. The results of the study showed that the average score of students at the time of the Pre-Test (Initial Test) was 48.44, then after participating in science learning using the Inside Outside Circle learning model, they got an average score of the Post-Test (Final Test) of 87.19 with a percentage of 95%. While in the calculation of the Z test, Zcount 6.83 ≥ Ztable 1.64 was obtained, so Ha was accepted Ho was rejected. The conclusion of this study is that the application of the Inside Outside Circle learning model can significantly describe the Learning Objective Achievement Criteria (KKTP).   Keywords: Learning Outcomes, IPAS, Learning Models.

Abstract

Learning activities are the process of interaction between students, educators, and learning resources in the learning environment. This study aims to determine the completeness of the learning outcomes of Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) of fifth-grade students of SD Negeri 1 Sumber Harta after being given the Picture and Picture learning model. The background of this study is the low learning outcomes of students in the subject of IPAS caused by the use of monotonous learning methods and less involvement of student activity. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The subjects of the study were all 18 fifth-grade students. The data collection technique used a written test in the form of essay questions. The results showed that the average pre-test score of 37.35 increased to 78.38 in the post-test, with the learning completeness level increasing from 11.11% to 88.89%. Statistical tests using the z-test show that the calculated z value is 4.97, which is greater than the z (table) of 1.64 at a significance level of 0.05, which means the alternative hypothesis is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the picture and picture learning model can significantly improve students' science learning outcomes.

Abstract

Background: The success of the Independent Curriculum implementation largely depends on teachers’ perceptions, particularly in English language teaching at the elementary level. Aims: This study aims to analyze English teachers’ perceptions of the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in Driving Schools at the elementary level, specifically at SD Negeri 20, SD Negeri 166, and SD Negeri 82 Rejang Lebong in Padang Ulak Tanding. The research focuses on teachers’ understanding and evaluation of the curriculum in terms of its concepts, content, and classroom implementation. Method: A qualitative descriptive method was employed. Data were collected through a 37-item Guttman-scale questionnaire adapted from Perdana (2021) and in-depth interviews with three English teachers. Questionnaire data were analyzed using percentage agreements, while interview data were analyzed thematically to support the findings. Results: The results indicate that English teachers generally have positive perceptions of the Independent Curriculum. Most indicators received approval rates between 80% and 100%, particularly those related to learning flexibility, character education, teacher student collaboration, and the use of varied learning resources. However, lower approval rates (33.3%–66.7%) were found in aspects related to limited training opportunities, assessment difficulties, and challenges in conducting outdoor learning activities. Interview findings further revealed that the curriculum promotes students’ creativity and active participation, although limitations in facilities and teacher readiness remain. Conclusion: English teachers perceive the Independent Curriculum positively and believe it enhances the quality of English language learning. Nevertheless, continuous support, teacher training, and adequate resources are necessary to ensure effective and sustainable implementation.

Abstract

Background of study: Speaking is a fundamental component of communication skills for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students. Nevertheless, many learners encounter difficulties in expressing ideas fluently and coherently in oral communication. These challenges highlight the need for instructional strategies that facilitate idea generation, organization, and delivery through technology-enhanced learning environments.Aims: This study aims to examine the effect of integrating digital cognitive mapping into speaking instruction on the speaking performance of Indonesian EFL university students. Methods: A quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design was employed involving 44 students enrolled in an English Language Education program. The participants were divided into an experimental group (n = 22) and a control group (n = 22). The experimental group received speaking instruction supported by digital cognitive mapping tools, while the control group engaged in conventional speaking activities without cognitive or digital mapping. Students’ speaking performance was assessed using standardized speaking rubrics, and the data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.Result: The results indicated that the experimental group showed a statistically significant improvement in speaking scores from pretest to posttest, whereas the control group demonstrated only a slight and non-significant gain. In addition, the experimental group significantly outperformed the control group on the posttest. Conclusion: The study concludes that digital cognitive mapping is an effective instructional tool for enhancing EFL students’ speaking performance, particularly in planning, organizing, and delivering oral texts. These findings support the integration of technology-enhanced, learner-centered speaking activities using visual knowledge-organization tools in higher education contexts.

Abstract

Temam Waterfall Tourism Park in Lubuklinggau, South Sumatra, has great potential as a tourist destination with natural beauty in the form of waterfalls and beautiful vegetation. However, there was a decrease in the number of visitors which had a negative impact on the income of local traders. To overcome this problem, initiatives have been carried out in the form of the establishment of an English-speaking market area and training for local traders. This program aims to improve the communication skills of traders in English, so as to better serve tourists and create a more satisfying tourist experience. The training includes communication skills, customer service, and more effective promotional strategies. In addition, this program also encourages environmental care and promotion of local crafts to increase tourist attractions. Activities are carried out through socialization, scheduled training, hands-on practice, and the application of technology to support continuous learning. Periodic mentoring and evaluation are carried out to ensure that the skills acquired are applied in daily practice. The results of this program show that the improvement of traders' communication skills has increased, they are able to serve sellers with simple English. Thus, after the traders can communicate in English, it is hoped that they can bring tourists to return for vacation at the Teem Waterfall Tourism Park.
