Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to assess the operational and financial feasibility of mass-producing Asbuton (Buton natural asphalt) as a sustainable alternative material for road construction in Indonesia. Methodology – This study adopts a feasibility study framework integrating operational and financial analyses. The operational assessment covers plant location selection, plant capacity determination, facility layout planning, and production process evaluation. Financial feasibility is analyzed through projected cash flow estimation based on capital and operational expenditures, employing investment appraisal indicators such as Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Payback Period (PP). A sensitivity analysis is further conducted to evaluate the impact of price variations on project viability. Findings – The results indicate that the proposed Asbuton production plant is both operationally and financially feasible. The financial indicators demonstrate satisfactory investment performance, while sensitivity analysis shows that the project remains viable under reasonable fluctuations in key economic variables. Technological advancement and efficient operational planning play a critical role in improving cost efficiency and competitiveness. Originality – This study offers a comprehensive feasibility assessment by integrating operational design, financial evaluation, and sensitivity analysis for large-scale Asbuton production. It contributes empirical evidence to the limited literature on natural asphalt commercialization in emerging economies, particularly Indonesia.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to investigate the impact of work attitude on job satisfaction and the intention to change jobs within the fashion modeling industry in Jakarta. The focus is on freelance fashion models who often face job insecurity and a lack of legal protection. Methodology – A quantitative approach was employed using confirmatory factor analysis. Data were collected through a questionnaire survey involving 115 respondents, selected using a snowball sampling method. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression and Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Findings – The results show that a positive work attitude significantly influences job satisfaction. In turn, higher job satisfaction is found to reduce the intention to change jobs. These findings provide a deeper understanding of the relationships between work attitude, job satisfaction, and job-switching intention within the context of freelance fashion models. Originality – This study highlights a relatively underexplored labor segment, freelance fashion models, who face unique employment challenges in a largely informal industry. It provides empirical insights into psychological and organizational factors affecting their work engagement and retention.

Abstract

Purpose – This study seeks to identify and summarize the principal barriers to the implementation of digital transformation in operations and supply chains. Methodology – This research utilizes a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology in accordance with PRISMA criteria. A thorough literature search was performed utilizing the Google Scholar database, concentrating on peer-reviewed articles released from 2019 to 2024. Studies were evaluated according to established inclusion and exclusion criteria. From the initial collection of discovered papers, 20 studies were chosen and examined to systematically discern reoccurring themes and categories of obstacles to digital transformation. Findings – The analysis indicates that digital transformation in operations and supply chain management is obstructed by several significant barriers, including inadequate digital capabilities, resistance to organizational change, interoperability challenges, insufficient infrastructure readiness, and cybersecurity issues. These obstacles diminish operational efficiency, disrupt process integration, and undermine supply chain resilience, thereby restricting the potential advantages of digital transformation programs. Originality – This study enhances the literature by offering a systematic synthesis of challenges to digital transformation in operations and supply chain environments. The study consolidates fragmented information, emphasizing notable research gaps about the varying effects of different barriers on the efficacy of digital transformation. The findings provide significant insights for scholars and practitioners, indicating pathways for future study aimed at creating comprehensive frameworks for evaluating and alleviating impediments to digital transformation.

Abstract

Firms are increasingly integrating digital technology into their supply network systems for the purpose of attain global competitiveness. The utilization of digital technology has resulted in the Rise of a new supply chain management system known as the digital supply chain. Many parties believe that digital supply chain has several opportunities for companies, however, a number of researchers argues that the dependence on digital technology in the worldwide supply chain is accompanied by substantial obstacles. Therefore, this study intends to understand the opportunities and difficulties of digital supply chain and identify the future research agenda in this research area to develop better digital supply chain concepts and implementations. This research conducted systematic literature review through content analysis based on five dimensions in the SCOR model, which is plan, source, make, deliver, and return dimension. The analysis in this research finds that digital supply chain can enhances demand forecasting and product development in plan dimension, enables supplier selection and procurement automation in source dimension, facilitates smart and additive manufacturing in make dimension, optimizes inventory management, order management, transportation and logistics management in deliver dimension, as well as supports closed loop supply chain or circular economy in return dimension. However, the lack of infrastructure, policy, and coordination, along with financial, technical, and technological barrier, has become the common challenges of digital supply chain. Cybersecurity issue is also another main issue of the digital supply network. Through this analysis, the future research agenda can finally be taken in this research.

Abstract

The integration of generative artificial intelligence into higher education has transformed the ways postgraduate students begin and advance their academic work. However, few studies have explored how AI influences epistemic authority in the development of thesis proposals. This study examines how postgraduate students establish and prioritize AI, peers, and supervisors as epistemic authorities within an AI-mediated academic environment. Using a qualitative interpretative methodology, we gathered data from 105 graduate students through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. Reflexive thematic analysis unveiled a stratified epistemic hierarchy. AI was seen as an important authority because it could help people think more clearly and generate new ideas, but it had to be checked. Peers acted as relational authorities, giving emotional support and dialogic assistance. Supervisors maintained the highest epistemic status as institutional authorities owing to their evaluative authority, responsibility, and symbolic capital within academic frameworks. AI reduced uncertainty and increased perceived control in the early stages of proposal creation, without undermining supervisory legitimacy. Authority remained grounded in institutional acknowledgment rather than in the rapid dissemination of knowledge. The findings enhance AI-in-education studies by shifting the emphasis from usage frequency to authority configuration, offering insights for AI governance and postgraduate supervision.
