Abstract

Abstract

Rubber is one of the plantation commodities which has quite an important role in economic activities in Indonesia. South Sumatra is the largest average contributor to natural rubber production, namely 28.77% of the total national rubber production each year. However, most rubber farmers have a habit of storing and dumping their rubber harvest in rivers. Where the river is the main water body to meet their daily needs. This habit over time will have an impact on environmental pollution. This article aims to provide comprehensive information about the negative impacts of soaking rubber in rivers and provide understanding to the public regarding the impacts and dangers of the habit of soaking rubber in rivers. The research method used is qualitative analysis. The data collection used was primary data through direct observation, filling out questionnaires, interviews with 15 people from the Pali Regency community who live around the river and secondary data through literature study. The results show that the community still practices the habit of soaking rubber agricultural products in rivers in Pali Regency, despite a lack of awareness and knowledge about the negative impacts they cause. The conclusions of this research indicate the need for efforts to increase community awareness and knowledge about the negative impacts of the rubber soaking habit. Through this article, it is hoped that it can open people's eyes to the risks and consequences associated with this habit so that it can create a healthy environment and improve the quality of rubber agricultural products in the future.

Abstract

The local wisdom of the Maluku traditional community, especially in the practice of sasi, shows a strong understanding of the importance of nature conservation and sustainable use of natural resources. In the management of natural resources, sasi law, which is recognized both written and unwritten, is an important basis. Sasi, which is considered sacred and combines religious and traditional values, plays an important role in preserving the environment. This practice is becoming more and more crucial in the face of growing environmental harm from irresponsible behavior on the part of some people. Using secondary data found, evaluated, and integrated from previous research on the local wisdom of Sasi Ikan Lompa, this research uses literature, documents, books, and various scientific journals. The research results show that lompa fish sasi in Haruku Village, which is supported by established regulations, shows the awareness of indigenous peoples about environmental conservation. The lompa fish sasi is closed when the fish reaches the age of seven months, when the fish is in the nener phase. Coastal communities also harvest lompa fish as bait and food. Lompa fish is used as a main side dish and bait, and the people of Haruku Village also sell it to earn money. Lompa fish that is not sold can be consumed immediately or preserved for use in the next few months. The indigenous people of Haruku Village really hope to maintain and preserve local wisdom about sasi ikan lompa. This is important to maintain marine ecosystems, maintain the abundance of lompa fish, and help the community.

Abstract

The rate of growth of society in Indonesia, especially on the island of Java, has meant that much land has been converted into residential areas. This causes several bird species to lose their habitat and become endangered, so conservation is needed as an effort to preserve them. This research aims to determine the perching preferences of birds on the island of Java, making it easier to create a living environment that suits their natural environment. This research uses qualitative methods through a literature review of literature sources, articles, and scientific journals. The IUCN Red List page is used to determine the scope of the aves species discussed in this article, namely the island of Java, and to find out the aves' habitat so that their perch preferences can be found. Three different categories of perches were obtained, namely texture, height, and perch diameter, with the assumption that these data could be translated to create artificial perches for ex-situ conservation.

Abstract

Environmental conservation is a major global issue, with Indonesia ranking low in the Environmental Performance Index 2022. This study focuses on Kampung Adat Kuta, a community in Ciamis, West Java, which upholds local wisdom in maintaining the balance of nature as one of the sustainable environmental ethics and its future prospects. The methods used in this research are literature study and bibliometric analysis. The results show that customary rules, such as respecting sacred forests, building houses according to the rules of the ancestors, and the prohibition of making wells, reflect local wisdom that supports environmental conservation. The people of Kampung Adat Kuta also uphold the concept of "pamali" as a norm to prevent potential environmental hazards. In addition, the results of bibliometric analysis show that the prospect of research related to environmental ethics in the community of Kampung Adat Kuta is still very broad. The bibliometric analysis resulted in four thematic clusters that reflect the complexity of environmental ethics issues in Kampung Adat Kuta involving aspects of sustainability, local values, and community participation. Overall, environmental ethics in Kampung Kuta help maintain the balance of nature and make a positive contribution to the sustainability of natural resources. Although further research is needed, these findings highlight the importance of local values in responding to the challenges of the environmental crisis and offer valuable insights for the development of environmental conservation policies at the local and national levels.
