Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) in combating money politics during the 2024 Election in Dumbo Raya District, Gorontalo City. Using a qualitative descriptive method with a phenomenological approach, the research gathered data through interviews, observations, and documentation involving Bawaslu officials, community members, and election stakeholders. The findings reveal that Bawaslu has adopted systematic, participatory, and preventive strategies such as early detection, voter education, and the use of digital platforms for reporting violations. Nevertheless, obstacles including limited personnel, constrained budgets, weak law enforcement, and public tolerance for money politics impede optimal oversight. The study concludes that while Bawaslu's efforts have shown progress, there is a critical need to enhance institutional capacity, reform election laws, integrate digital supervision tools, and promote civic engagement. The study recommends increasing funding, streamlining enforcement mechanisms, and fostering collaboration among various stakeholders to ensure more transparent, fair, and democratic elections.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi dan mendeskripsikan upaya konservasi preventif atas paham radikalisme pada siswa SMKn 1 Gorontalo. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini metode kualitatif, pendekatan deskriptif untuk menggambarkan strategi yang diterapkan oleh guru-guru dan pihak terkait dalam mencegah penyebaran paham radikal di kalangan siswa. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam dengan Wakasek Kesiswaan, guru PPKn, guru Bimbingan Konseling (BK), serta siswa. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pencegahan paham radikalisme di SMKn 1 Gorontalo dilakukan melalui pendekatan pedagogis yang terintegrasi dalam tiga dimensi utama: kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotorik. Dalam dimensi kognitif, guru PPKn secara aktif mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai kebhinekaan dan prinsip-prinsip Pancasila dalam setiap aktivitas pembelajaran, yang bertujuan untuk memperkuat pemahaman siswa terhadap pentingnya demokrasi, toleransi, dan pluralisme. Pendekatan berbasis diskusi, studi kasus, dan problem-based learning terbukti efektif dalam membentuk daya nalar kritis siswa terhadap narasi intoleransi yang berkembang di media sosial. Di dimensi afektif, kegiatan ekstrakurikuler yang berorientasi pada moralitas dan kebhinekaan, seperti pramuka dan pentas seni budaya, berperan penting dalam membangun rasa empati dan solidaritas antar siswa dengan latar belakang yang berbeda. Dimensi psikomotorik menekankan pentingnya interaksi yang lebih personal dan humanistik antara siswa dan guru, terutama melalui konseling dan pendekatan yang mendalam terhadap perilaku menyimpang.Secara keseluruhan, penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa upaya preventif atas paham radikalisme harus bersifat terstruktur dan melibatkan kolaborasi lintas disiplin untuk menciptakan lingkungan yang aman dan inklusif, yang mampu membentuk karakter siswa yang toleran dan menghindari paparan paham radikaslime.

Abstract

This community service project aims to examine the role of strengthening nationalism in preventing radicalism among students at SMK Negeri 1 Gorontalo. The main focus is on the internalization of national values through a comprehensive educational approach. The methods used include conducting workshops, seminars, developing e-learning modules, and collaborative projects between faculty and students of Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. The results of the study show a significant increase in students' understanding, attitudes, and enthusiasm towards national values. Furthermore, students demonstrated improved ability to identify and counter radical ideologies that threaten national integration. However, the study also identified a major challenge: the gap between the national values taught in school and the social realities faced by students outside the formal educational environment. Therefore, a sustainable approach is needed, one that not only focuses on knowledge transfer but also integrates critical literacy and multi-stakeholder collaboration, including families, communities, and digital institutions. In conclusion, strengthening nationalism through education has proven to be an effective strategy in building students' ideological resilience against radicalism.ABSTRAKPengabdian ini bertujuan untuk melihat peran penguatan nasionalisme dalam upaya pencegahan radikalisme di kalangan pelajar SMK Negeri 1 Gorontalo. Fokus utama diarahkan pada internalisasi nilai-nilai kebangsaan melalui pendekatan pendidikan yang utuh. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pelaksanaan workshop, seminar, pengembangan modul e-learning, serta proyek kolaboratif antara dosen dan mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan dalam hal pemahaman, sikap, dan antusiasme siswa terhadap nilai-nilai nasionalisme. Selain itu, siswa juga menunjukkan kemampuan yang lebih baik dalam mengidentifikasi serta menangkal paham-paham radikal yang mengancam integrasi Nasional. Meski demikian, penelitian ini juga menemukan tantangan utama berupa kesenjangan antara nilai-nilai nasionalisme yang diajarkan di sekolah dan realitas sosial yang dihadapi siswa di luar lingkungan pendidikan formal. Dengan demikian, dibutuhkan pendekatan berkelanjutan yang tidak hanya berbasis pada transfer pengetahuan, tetapi juga mengintegrasikan literasi kritis dan kolaborasi multiaktor, termasuk keluarga, masyarakat, dan institusi digital. Kesimpulannya, penguatan nasionalisme berbasis pendidikan terbukti menjadi strategi yang efektif dalam membentuk ketahanan ideologis pelajar terhadap radikalisme.

Abstract

This study aims to address the declining trend of students’ character values through a collaborative character education strengthening program at SMK Negeri 3 Gorontalo. Technological advancement, while offering convenience, also poses a risk of eroding students’ moral values. The research employed a collaborative approach involving lecturers, students, and school stakeholders, consisting of three phases: preparation (needs analysis, coordination, and material development), implementation (socialization, seminars, and interactive discussions), and evaluation through surveys and feedback. The results indicate a considerable improvement in students’ understanding of core character values such as honesty, responsibility, and discipline, along with active participation in reflective activities. The program also strengthened the synergy between schools and higher education institutions as a foundation for sustainable character development. The study concludes that collaborative and contextual approaches are effective in instilling character values, although periodic evaluations are necessary to ensure long-term internalization. These findings emphasize the importance of integrating character education throughout the entire educational ecosystem, both at the school and university levels.ABSTRAKPengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi tren penurunan nilai-nilai karakter pada siswa melalui program penguatan pendidikan karakter berbasis kolaborasi di SMK Negeri 3 Gorontalo. Kemajuan teknologi, meski membawa kemudahan, juga berpotensi menggerus nilai-nilai karakter siswa. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kolaboratif antara dosen, mahasiswa, dan pihak sekolah, yang meliputi tiga tahap: persiapan (analisis kebutuhan, koordinasi, dan penyusunan materi), pelaksanaan (sosialisasi, seminar, dan diskusi interaktif), serta evaluasi melalui survei dan umpan balik. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman siswa terhadap nilai-nilai karakter, seperti kejujuran, tanggung jawab, dan kedisiplinan, serta partisipasi aktif dalam kegiatan reflektif. Program ini juga memperkuat sinergi antara sekolah dan perguruan tinggi sebagai fondasi penguatan karakter berkelanjutan. Kesimpulan pengabdian ini menegaskan bahwa pendekatan kolaboratif dan kontekstual efektif dalam menanamkan nilai-nilai karakter, meskipun memerlukan evaluasi berkala untuk memastikan internalisasi jangka panjang. Temuan ini mendukung pentingnya integrasi pendidikan karakter dalam seluruh ekosistem pendidikan, baik di tingkat sekolah maupun perguruan tinggi.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dynamics of elections from a supervisory perspective, focusing on the role of the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) in addressing money politics practices in Gorontalo City. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, using data collection techniques such as interviews, documentation, and direct observation of monitoring and violation-handling processes. The results show that although Gorontalo City Bawaslu operates under a strong legal foundation—namely Law Number 7 of 2017 and Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perpu) Number 1 of 2022—its implementation still faces numerous challenges on the ground. Out of 11 reported cases of alleged money politics, only 7 were successfully registered, while the rest could not be pursued legally. Four of these were categorized as serious violations, involving administrative, ethical, and criminal offenses. The main obstacles faced by Bawaslu include low public participation in reporting, limited access to the reporting system, insufficient supervisory capacity at lower levels, and weak law enforcement. Nevertheless, Bawaslu has taken several improvement initiatives, such as the Anti-Money Politics Village program and the use of social media for participatory supervision. The study concludes that the performance of Gorontalo City Bawaslu in handling money politics remains suboptimal and calls for comprehensive reforms in terms of resources, transparency, and strengthened collaboration with the public and law enforcement institutions to ensure clean, fair, and democratic elections.

Abstract

This study employs a qualitative method, utilizing data from various books and journals. The research examines the impact of COVID-19 on the GDP of ASEAN countries, which showed economic decline in 2020, along with decreased export and import values, increased unemployment, and rising poverty levels. Interestingly, not all Southeast Asian countries with relatively stable economies during the pandemic managed to curb unemployment rates. In Brunei Darussalam, unemployment remained high despite economic stability. The pandemic also affected economic distribution in complex ways, depending on each country's development level and political stability, as seen in Myanmar. The pandemic's impact on poverty levels in ASEAN countries highlights their structural vulnerabilities. Countries with strong social protection systems, such as Vietnam and Malaysia, mitigated the pandemic's effects on people with low incomes more effectively than those with limited protection, like Cambodia and Myanmar. Additionally, reliance on specific economic sectors, such as tourism and the informal sector, significantly influenced vulnerability to the pandemic's impact. To address these challenges, ASEAN has undertaken various efforts to promote economic recovery through comprehensive approaches, including enhancing intra-regional trade, promoting digital transformation, encouraging sustainable development, and strengthening regional cooperation. These strategies aim not only to recover from the pandemic's immediate impact but also to build a more resilient and integrated ASEAN economy for the future.

Abstract

The protracted conflict between the Turkish state and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) remains one of the most enduring ethnopolitical confrontations in modern history. Despite initiatives such as the Oslo Process and the İmralı Talks, negotiations have consistently collapsed. This study examines the roots of these failures by integrating strategic negotiation theories—particularly BATNA and the Hurting Stalemate model—with perspectives from identity politics and collective trauma. Employing qualitative, thematic analysis of secondary sources, it argues that breakdowns cannot be explained solely through material or strategic lenses. Instead, they stem from entrenched ideological discord, symbolic marginalization, and structural asymmetries of power and recognition. The Turkish state’s reliance on coercion and systemic delegitimization of the PKK has impeded equitable dialogue. Conceptually, the article advances an interdisciplinary interpretation of negotiation failures and highlights the necessity of symbolic and psychosocial dimensions. Findings affirm that recognition, narrative pluralism, and legitimacy are essential to sustainable peace.

Abstract

The strengthening of character education through local cultural values has become an essential requirement in shaping competent and morally grounded students. This community service initiative aims to promote the implementation of the Huyula values which encompass mutual cooperation , responsibility, and social awareness in the character development of students at SMK Negeri 1 Limboto in a participatory and sustainable manner. The methodology employed a participatory approach with stages including initial observation, needs analysis, program formulation, coordination with the school, implementation of interactive socialization, as well as evaluation and reflection. Socialization was conducted through presentations, discussions, situational simulations, educational games, and collective reflection, with active student participation in analyzing real-life daily experiences. Data collection instruments consisted of observation questionnaires using a Likert scale, distributed to 125 students, followed by evaluation of 40 students in a representative sample. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in the implementation of Huyula values, evidenced by students’ awareness of linking academic achievement with character, their ability to interact across diverse backgrounds, understanding gained through daily experiences, and active participation in collective activities. The systematic and sustainable strengthening methods proved effective in fostering students’ intrinsic motivation to practice Huyula values in school life. This initiative underscores that character education based on local culture not only reinforces theoretical understanding but also cultivates tangible behaviors reflecting togetherness, responsibility, and social care, making it a relevant model for application in other vocational schools.

Abstract

Salbia as a noble value based on customs can be used as an alternative to internalizing bureaucratic attitudes (ASN, Village Heads, village officials) to maintain neutrality in the election. Salbia is also a contextual agenda and can be practiced through modern bureaucratic practices in the narrative of local democracy. This service aims at 1) Identifying the problem of vulnerability to election violations that occur around the bureaucratic environment, 2) Building bureaucratic awareness to remain aware of the types of election violations. 3) Providing reinforcement on the application of Salbia values as an alternative to bureaucratic neutrality in the election. 4) as a means of political education to strengthen political preferences of the bureaucracy to become smart voters and actively participate in supervising the 2024 simultaneous elections. Through this service, the bureaucracy can be massively active in carrying out participatory supervision ahead of the 2024 simultaneous elections.

Abstract

Bureaucratic neutrality has always been a significant challenge in every democratic event, whether in general elections (Pemilu) or local elections (Pemilukada). In the upcoming 2024 simultaneous elections, various strategies have been formulated by election organizing bodies (KPU and Bawaslu) at both the central and regional levels to strengthen and raise awareness among bureaucrats to maintain neutrality in the electoral process. However, these efforts have yet to yield optimal results, as bureaucracies are frequently utilized as tools to mobilize support for vote acquisition. Factors such as familial ties, career motives of campaign teams, superiors, candidate pairs, and the position of regional heads as personnel authorities (PPK) make it difficult for civil servants (ASN) to remain neutral. Based on this context, this community service aims to: 1) Identify the vulnerabilities of election violations by bureaucrats (civil servants, village heads, and village apparatus); 2) Build awareness within the bureaucracy to refrain from engaging in practical politics; and 3) Provide political education to strengthen bureaucratic political preferences, encouraging them to become intelligent voters who prioritize independence and neutrality in the lead-up to the 2024 simultaneous elections in Bone Bolango Regency.
