Abstract

Since the emergence of Covid-19, almost every sector of human life on this planet has been altered, including education. This also brought an impact on Politeknik Negeri Jember . Until the first half of the even Semester of the Academic Year 2021/2022, learning activities were carried out virtually through two main media, namely the Learning Management System (LMS) and video conferencing application such as Zoom. Unfortunately, during the period, the condition led to the lack of interactive learning by the lecturers of English study program on virtual classroom. To deal with this, one of the solutions was the use of Quizizz as a learning app for lecturers in the English study program of Language, Communication and Tourism department of Politeknik Negeri Jember. This study focused on investigating teachers’ perception regarding their experience in using the application which was relatively new for many of them. The study involved 21 lecturers of English study program of Politeknik Negeri Jember as the participants of Quizizz short workshop. The findings indicated that participants were enthusiast of having teaching learning activities using Quizizz. The participants enjoyed Quizizz and thought it was exciting, interesting, motivating, and enjoyable, especially while doing the online quiz. In addition, the results of quiz that accomplished by them can be seen and evaluated since it was recorded on teacher’s database of Quizizz application.

Abstract

Kelor Tourism Village is a tourism destination that is well-developed in Sleman Regency. This study aimed to analyze the forms of community participation in developing Kelor Tourism Village as a tourism destination. Qualitative descriptive method was used to describe the phenomena in the research object by using observation, interviews, and documentation to collect the data. This study showed the form of community participation in Kelor Tourism Village which consisted of two types: direct and indirect participation. The direct participation could be seen in the participation of the villagers, which included providers of tourist attractions, homestay providers, and the managers of Pokdarwis, in making decisions in every stage of the development of the tourist village. Meanwhile, the form of indirect participation carried out by the villagers was the participation in investing the operational costs of the tourism village. These participation forms have been solidly built since the beginning of their formation until now. The administrators’ enthusiasm in encouraging the community was a factor to grow their sense of ownership. Strong participation among the community also made Kelor Tourism Village economically independent and sustainable.

Abstract

There have been several ICT platforms used in assessment, one of which is ProProfs. The use of Proprofs, however, has not been widely known compared to other platforms, such as Quizziz and Kahoot!. This research attempted to find out the students’ perception towards the use of ProProfs in doing exercise in their Intermediate English Class. This was qualitative research, which used questionnaires and interviews to collect the data. The subjects were 127 students of Politeknik Negeri Jember, majoring in Management of Agroindustry. The result showed that most students think that having quizzes using ProProfs were interesting and challenging, and thus, made ProProfs become one of the assessment tools in class that is worth implementing. However, further research still needs to be done to explore the use of ProProfs in all levels of education.
