Abstract

Social media among teenagers leads to problems with body dissatisfaction caused by the intensity of use, which influences teenagers to compare themselves with the ideal self that is shared on the media. The aim of this research is to determine the role of social media user intensity in body dissatisfaction mediated by social comparison. This research is quantitative research with a correlational model. The subjects in the research were 103 young female students from X senior high school in the Sidoarjo. The data collected was analyzed using the linear regression formula and path analysis to test the mediation hypothesis. The results showed that the intensity of social media use was correlated with body dissatisfaction with a significance value of 0.031 (P<0.05) . The research also found that there is a role of intensity of social media use on body dissatisfaction mediated by social comparison with a t count value greater than t table 14.122 > 1.98.

Abstract

Although previous research has examined the general impact of nomophobia—anxiety experienced when without a mobile phone—on student populations, limited studies have specifically addressed how this condition manifests among individuals with extroverted personalities. This study aims to fill that gap by descriptive analysis of nomophobia tendencies in college students who identify as extroverts. Utilizing a quantitative descriptive approach, data were collected through purposive sampling from 148 students aged 18–25 years. The findings revealed that 127 out of 148 extroverted students demonstrated a notable tendency toward nomophobia. These results highlight the significant vulnerability of extroverted individuals to mobile phone dependence, likely due to their high need for social interaction. The study contributes to psychological research by underscoring the intersection between personality traits and technology-related anxiety. Practically, the findings offer valuable insight for mental health professionals and educators to develop targeted interventions for reducing nomophobia in extroverted student populations.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji hubungan antara dukungan sosial dan kontrol diri dengan penerimaan diri pada remaja dari keluarga bercerai. Data diperoleh dari 127 responden yang memenuhi kriteria penelitian, dan dianalisis menggunakan metode korelasi Spearman’s rho karena data tidak terdistribusi normal. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa dukungan sosial memiliki hubungan positif dan signifikan dengan penerimaan diri (p > 0,05), sedangkan kontrol diri tidak menunjukan hubungan signifikan dengan penerimaan diri (p < 0,05). Dukungan sosial memberikan kontribusi dominan terhadap penerimaan diri, mencerminkan peran penting lingkungan sosial dalam membangun rasa penghargaan dan enerimaan individu terhadap dirinya sendiri. Sebaliknya kontrol diri yang lebih berfokus pada regulasi perilaku dan impuls tidak memiliki hubungan langsung dengan penerimaan diri. Temuan ini menyoroti pentingannya penguatan dukngan sosial dalam intervensi yang bertujuan menigkatkan penerimaan diri pada remaja keluarga bercerai.

Abstract

This study aims to prove the relationship between work family conflict and internal locus of control with burnout of retail employees. The subjects of this study were 180 retail employees who were experiencing burnout. The approach used in the study was a quantitative approach with a data collection method using a scale that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was carried out using a multiple linear regression analysis correlation test. The measuring instruments used were the burnout scale, the work family conflict scale and the internal locus of control scale. The results showed that there was a correlation between work family conflict and internal locus of control with burnout of retail employees. Work family conflict showed a positive and significant correlation with burnout of retail employees, while internal locus of control showed a negative and significant correlation with burnout of retail employees. The results showed that work family conflict can increase the level of burnout of retail employees while internal locus of control can minimize the level of burnout of retail employees.

Abstract

Bullying in schools has a significant psychological impact on adolescents, including anxiety, concentration difficulties, and decreased motivation to learn. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of mental imagery training in reducing the psychological effects of bullying among students at SMP Negeri 28 Bulukumba. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest format and no control group. The subjects were 20 ninth-grade students identified as having experienced psychological distress due to bullying. The intervention consisted of five structured mental imagery training sessions. Pretest and posttest data were analyzed using descriptive and comparative statistical methods. The results revealed a reduction in psychological symptoms after the intervention, such as increased calmness in social situations, enhanced assertive expression, and decreased emotional reactivity. Mental imagery training proved to be an effective strategy in strengthening students' emotional resilience and minimizing the impact of bullying. These findings highlight the importance of implementing both preventive and therapeutic psychological approaches within educational settings.

Abstract

Marital dissatisfaction due to poor communication and conflict, as well as extraversion personality, are themain factors for infidelity tendencies. This study aims to explore the relationship between extraversionpersonality and marital satisfaction on infidelity tendencies in early adult individuals. A quantitativeapproach was used with multiple linear regression analysis method. The research sample amounted to 270early adult individuals aged 18-40 years old who were married and working, who were selected using nonprobability sampling techniques. Data were collected through questionnaires measuring extraversionpersonality, marital satisfaction, and infidelity tendencies. The results of the analysis showed thatextraversion personality had a significant positive influence on infidelity tendency (regression coefficientof 0.627, p = 0.000). In contrast, marital satisfaction did not show a significant influence on the tendency(regression coefficient -0.163, p = 0.328). Overall, the regression model was able to explain 18.3% of thevariation in infidelity tendency, while 81.7% was influenced by other factors outside of this study.

Abstract

Hypertension recorded as the fifth non-communicable disease (NCD) that became a major health problem in Indonesia. This study investigated the association between social relationships and flourishing among individual with hypertension. This study used a cross-sectional method involving 109 participants with hypertension at the Pasuruan City Police Pratama Clinic. The flourishing level was measured with the Flourishing Index scale and social relation is measured with the NIH Toolbox Adult Social Relationship. The results showed that there was a positive relationship between social relations and flourishing among individuals with hypertension (r = 0.437, p < 0.01), which indicates that the better the individual's social relations, the better the individual's flourishing.

Abstract

Smartphone addiction is a difficult thing in terms of physical, psychological, and social for the younger generation, especially teenagers. To reduce smartphone addiction, things are needed that can provide awareness and a deep understanding of smartphone addiction from aspects that are at risk of being affected by smartphone addiction. The Adolescents Smartphone Addiction Program is designed as an intervention effort through education and training to reduce smartphone addiction in adolescents. The technique of taking research subjects was purposive sampling. This study uses a pre-experimental design with one group pre and post-test design. The research subjects were 30 students of SMPN 19 Surabaya. The data obtained for this study used the Smartphone Addiction Scale- Short Version from Kwon. The hypothesis test used the Paired Sample T-test technique with a mean difference = 2.300 t calculated as 2.902 with a significance level of 0.007 (p < 0.05). This study shows that the psychoeducation of the Adolescents Smartphone Addiction Program can reduce smartphone addiction in junior high school adolescents. ABSTRAKKecanduan smartphone merupakan suatu hal yang sangat berbahaya dari segi fisik, psikis maupun sosial bagi generasi muda khususnya remaja. Guna menurunkan kecanduan smartphone dibutuhkan hal-hal yang mampu memberikan kesadaran serta pemahaman yang mendalam mengenai kecanduan smartphone dari segi-segi yang berisiko terkena dampak kecanduan smartphone. Psikoedukasi Adolescents Smartphone Addiction Program dirancang sebagai upaya intervensi melalui pendidikan dan pelatihan untuk menurunkan kecanduan smartphone pada remaja. Teknik pengambilan subyek penelitian dengan teknik purposive sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pre-experimental dengan one group pre and post test design. Subyek penelitian adalah 30 siswa SMPN 19 Surabaya. Data yang diperoleh untuk penelitian ini mengguanakan Smartphone Addiction Scale- Short Version dari Kwon. Pengujian hipotesis menggunakan teknik Paired Sample T-test dengan perbedaan mean = 2,300 t hitung sebesar 2,902 dengan taraf signifikansi sebesar 0,007 (p < 0,05). Abstract

The development of digital technology has facilitated people's shopping activities, especially through e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Tokopedia, and TikTok Shop. This convenience has triggered an increase in consumer behavior, particularly among students aged 18–21 who are in the phase of searching for identity and the need for social recognition. One psychological factor believed to play a role in consumer behavior is self-esteem. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-esteem and consumer behavior in online product purchases among students in Surabaya City. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The subjects were students aged 18–21, and data were collected using a self-esteem scale and a consumer behavior scale. Data analysis was carried out using correlation analysis. The results of the study indicate a relationship between self-esteem and consumer tendencies in online shopping. These findings provide an overview of the role of psychological factors in shaping student consumption patterns and serve as a basis for efforts to develop self-management education and healthy consumption among the younger generation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between democratic parenting and social stimulation among parents of children with speech delay. Democratic parenting is characterized by supportive, open, and communicative behaviours, which are believed to enhanced children’s social stimulation. The study used a quantitative correlational approach with snowball methods involving 73 parents from Surabaya and Jakarta. Research instruments included a democratic parenting scale and a social stimulation scale, developed based on the theories of Baumrind and Vygotsky. The result of the Pearson Product-Moment correlation analysis showed a correlation coefficient of r = 0.630 with a significance level of p < 0.01, indicating a significant positive relationship between the two variables. Therefore, the higher the level of democratic parenting applied, the greater the social stimulation received by children with speech delay. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara pola asuh demokratis dengan stimulasi sosial pada orang tua yang memiliki anak dengan speech delay. Pola asuh demokratis mencerminkan gaya pengasuhan yang mendukung, terbuka, dan komunikatif, yang diyakini dapat meningkatkan stimulasi sosial anak. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional dengan metode snowball kepada 73 orang tua di Surabaya dan Jakarta. Instrumen penelitian ini meliputi skala pola asuh demokratis dan skala stimulasi sosial yang disusun berdasarkan teori Baumrind dan Vygotsky. Hasil analisis menggunakan korelasi Pearson Product Moment yang menunjukkan koefisien korelasi sebesar r = 0.630 dengan signifikansi p < 0.01, yang berarti terdapat hubugan positif yang signifikan antara kedua variabel. Dengan demikian, semakin tinggi penerapan pola asuh demokratis, maka semakin besar pula stimulasi sosial yang diberikan kepada anak dengan speech delay.
