Abstract

Cibodas Village, Pasirjambu District, Bandung Regency is a Partner Village for the Faculty of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Technology (FALTL) which has a vision of making Cibodas Village an Eco-Village. Waste management is one of the main activities to create an Eco-Village. One of the main problems in waste management is the use of the collect, transport and throw concept that has been entrenched in our society. The community, as a waste producer, is not yet disciplined in disposing of waste in its place and is not accustomed to implementing the 3R concept (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle). Activities ranging from preparation to implementation and writing of reports were carried out from June 2020 to August 15, 2020. The forms of activities were counselling and training. The activity took place on time and was attended by around 30 participants. The activity could run well and was followed by extension participants, namely the village youth who were assigned to be facilitators. Surveys conducted on June 2nd, 2020, discussed for training preparation, training material and participants. From outreach activities that focus on Counselling on Waste Management and Environmental Cleanliness as Efforts to Prevent Transmission of Infectious Diseases that have been carried out by the PKM Team of the Environmental Engineering Department, FALTL, Trisakti University can broaden facilitators' insights regarding waste management and prevention of transmission of infectious diseases and PKM activities are initial efforts to realize Eco-Village through community empowerment starting with independent waste management through 3Rs and waste banks.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat yang dilakukan oleh Jurusan Teknik Lingkungan Universitas Trisakti dengan penyuluhan atau sosialiasi bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi mengenai dampak dan pengendalian kebisingan lingkungan di pemukiman. Penyuluhan dengan metode ceramah, dilengkapi dengan diskusi yang digunakan untuk menyampaikan keterangan atau informasi, atau uraian tentang suatu pokok persoalan serta masalah secara lisan dan diskusi untuk tanya-jawab sehubungan dengan masalah-masalah yang harus dipecahkan, dilakukan untuk menggali ide atau pendapat masyarakat tentang suatu masalah secara individu dan membangun komitmen. Kegiatan dihadiri masyarakat Kelurahan Wijaya Kusuma yang terdiri dari ibu–ibu rumah tangga, Petugas Penanganan Prasarana dan Sarana Umum (PPSU), dan karang taruna sebanyak 30 orang. Hasil dari kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini disampaikan bahwa faktor lama pajanan, intensitas kebisingan, umur serta faktor lain akan berpengaruh terhadap penurunan pendengaran. Pengendalian kebisingan dipermukiman dapat dilakukan dengan melakukan penghijauan di lingkungan sekitar. Selain itu hasil dari sosialisasi dampak dan pengendalian kebisingan adalah menambah wawasan tentang kebisingan, sumber kebisangan, dampak kebisingan bagi kesehatan dan kenyamanan dan masyarakat mengetahui bagaimana cara pengendalian kebisingan secara sederhana. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah diharapkan dapat mengubah perilaku masyarakat menjadi perilaku yang lebih berwawasan lingkungan dengan melaksanakan kegiatan penghijauan di setiap rumah sesuai dengan ketersediaan lahan dan karakteristik pemukiman yang tersedia.

Abstract

Damage to the ecosystem there will cause problems for the city. The factors causing the damage to the lake in Depok City are changes in land use in the catchment area, sedimentation, pollution and eutrophication resulting in reduced aesthetic value. Basically, this lake ecosystem can be turned into a tourist destination. Situ Pangarengan, which is located in Cisalak Village, Sukma Jaya District, Depok City, initially has an area of about 10.00 Ha, but now it is 8.00 Ha and shrinks in the dry season to 6.70 Ha. Therefore, saving this ecosystem needs to be done by conducting outreach to the people who live around it. The purpose of this activity is to provide counseling on management by implementing conservation and structuring the landscape along Situ Pangarengan. The activity was carried out on August 18, 2022, attended by 40 people. The PKM method is carried out with counseling in the form of lectures, discussions. The training atmosphere is designed to be interactive so that participants can more easily understand with case examples in the field. The results of this PkM activity participants gain knowledge about the benefits of managing and conserving the Situ Pangarengan ecosystem properly; participants get information about the landscape design for the lake bank; participants get a forum to exchange opinions and provide input regarding the management of the Situ Pangarengan ecosystem and the necessary communication occurs between extension workers and participants for the preparation of further action plans

Abstract

Domestic wastewater needs to be treated because it can pollute the environment, either water bodies, ground water, or soil. One alternative to treat domestic wastewater is using subsurface constructed wetland methods. This method has advantages, among others, cheap, simple technology and can be applied to the area of ample land. In this research, subsurface contructed wetlands-multilayer filtration with vertical flow type using Melati Air (Echindorus paleafolius) in field scale to treat domestic wastewater from canteens and gray water toilet of Senior High School at Bekasi with treatment capacity for 2261 L/day. Subsurface constructed wetlands-multilayer filtration with vertical flow type is an advanced treatment in this research. For preliminary treatment the collecting and aeration tank is used. Performance of subsurface constructed wetland-multilayer filtration with vertical flow type was able to achieve effluent COD parameters of 40 mg / L (standard 100 mg/L) from an average influent of 350 mg/L with removal efficiency of 90%, while BOD was successfully degraded to 33.00 mg/L (quality standard 30 mg/L) of an average influent concentration of 350 mg/L. In addition, the parameters analyzed are total nitrogen, the total phosphate succeeded to meet the quality standard. Based on the results of laboratory analysis, the reactor is able to treat organic loading of 500-700 kg BOD5/Ha/Day compared to previous research which is range from 40-300 kg BOD/Ha/ Day. Similarly, the value of K in this study ranged from 0.35-0.57 m/day for BOD and 0.37-0.45 m/day for COD compared to precious research which is 0.055-0.16 m / day for BOD and 0.027-0.16 m / day for COD.

Abstract

A study on Ankistrodesmus sp.—a freshwater green microalgae species—as a bioflocculant based on its physicochemical properties and flocculation rate has been carried out. The molecular identification via 16S rDNA showed 99% resemblance of this green microalga to the Ankistrodesmus fumigatus strain. The optimum batch culture condition for the bioflocculant production was initiated by 10% inoculum (v/v). The low-concentrated bioflocculant of 10% (v/v) is considered as thermostable with a high flocculation rate to harvest the biomass of Chlorella sp. at a pH range of 5 to 9. The source of molasses, the mixture of yeast extract were used as the optimum sources of carbon and Ammonium sulfate were used as the optimum sources of nitrogen in the growth medium. Ankistrodesmus sp. bioflocculant has a high flocculation efficiency over a wide range of pH (5–9) with a low dose requirement of 10% v/v at 25°C. Hence, it is immensely competitive to promote the economic viability of the production process. Accordingly, Ankistrodesmus sp. bioflocculant has a high potential to be applied on an industrial scale in tropical regions as it does not require additional production cost.

Abstract

β-Tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) is a widely used bioceramic material. In dentistry, it is commonly used as bone graft material. β-TCP is osteoconductive, bioresorbable, bioactive, and has biocompatibility properties. This study aims to evaluate the optimum molarity of CaO and H3PO4 to synthesize β-TCP from a natural source (Perna viridis linn). This is laboratory experimental research conducted by reacting calcium compounds from green mussel shells and phosphoric acid using the dissolution precipitation method with variations in molarity ratio. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and fourier transform infrared (FTIR) were used to identify the characteristics of β-TCP synthesized from green mussel shells. The XRD chart pattern showed the formation of peaks identical to the β-TCP (Sigma-Aldrich). However, formation of whitlockite phase was also seen in the results. FTIR results showed that phosphate, hydroxyl, and carbonyl groups were shown on the graph and could be identified as β-TCP. SEM characterization showed that the sample consisted of small particles irregularly shaped to form like aggregates. β-TCP synthesized using molarity ratio of 0.6M CaO: 0.4M H3PO4 had characteristics resembling β-TCP (Sigma-Aldrich).

Abstract

Titanium is a gold standard material in dental implant treatment due to its biocompatibility and excellent mechanical strength. However, titanium has no bioactivity and osteoconductivity. This has led to studies to develop the osteoconductivity by modifying the surface morphology, such as the thread pitch, which affect the implant stability and bone formation around the implant. This study aims to evaluate the effect of various size of gaps (equivalent to thread pitch) on the bone formation in titanium rods implantation. Initially, titanium rods were cut with different blade sizes: 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4 mm. The gaps were equivalent to dental implant thread pitch. Titanium rods were implanted in the rat’s femur and inserted into the bone marrow. After 2 and 4 weeks of implantation, the rats were euthanized and the implanted femur were extracted. The femurs were resin-embedded and cut into 1-mm thickness. The specimens were observed by backscattered SEM. Two weeks after implantation, new bone started to form and penetrated the pitch. In the wider gaps, the bone penetration was found to be particularly high, and vice versa. After 4 weeks, the new bone formation was greater compared to 2 weeks of implantation, and more bone penetration was observed in the wider pitch. This study is an observational research with qualitative reading of the backscattered SEM images. In conclusion, wider pitch could increase osseointegration by providing larger space for bone formation.

Abstract

Petugas kesehatan sebagai garda depan dalam penanganan pasien Covid-19 memerlukan perlindungan dari risiko terpapar virus. Seusai menjalankan tugasnya, para petugas medis melakukan tindakan sterilisasi diri dengan cara memasuki arena disinfectant chamber, membungkus hazmad sekali pakai untuk dibuang dan mengembalikan APD (Alat Pelindung Diri) lain dalam wadah yang telah tersedia untuk dicuci kembali. Namun demikian terlihat fasilitas yang tersedia belum nampak optimal, dan terlihat kumuh. Sehingga beberapa APD yang akan dikenakan kembali beresiko terpapar virus COVID-19.  Selain itu beberapa peralatan yang memungkinkan dipakai kembali tercampur, resiko hilang, dan kacamata resiko patah atau kaca lebih buram. Alhasil APD para petugas mulai menipis.Latar belakang ini menjadi alasan pentingnya dirancang fasilitas sterilisasi yang terpadu. Kegitaan dilakukan di RSUD Pademangan, Jakarta Utara merupakan salah rujukan pasien COVID-19. Penelitian pengembangan ini bertujuan menghasilkan seperangkat alat terpadu sterilisasi Alat Pelindung Diri (APD) yang efektif dan praktis.  Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan pendekatan Design Thinking, yang terdiri atas emphatize, define, ideate, prototype, dan testing. Hasil penelitian ini adalah peralatan terpadu steriliasi APD Covid-19 yang terdiri atas disinfectan chamber, bak penampugan APD, ozone chamber, dan almari kompartemen dua arah. Berdasarkan serangkaian pengujian, hasilnya adalah: 1) disinfectant chamber dapat bekerja dengan baik. Ini ditandai oleh: disinfectant chamber dapat menyemprot secara otomatis setelah sensor diberi isyarat/pemicu, kekuatan tekanan cairan optimal, bak penampung untuk menampung sisa cairan berfungsi dengan baik, dan kontruksi lebih ergonomis. 2)  bak penampungan berfungsi dengan baik (mudah dibuka untuk diambil dan dibersihkan, dan terbagi sesuai kelengkapan APD. 3) ozone chamber memenuhi kriteria keberhasilan. Indikasinya adalah  ozon chamber menyemprot otomatis setelah sensor diberi isyarat/pemicu, kekuatan tekanan asap optimal, terdapat bak penampung yang menampung sisa cairan ozon, dan konstruksi lebih ergonomis. 4)  Nilai inovasi dari almari dua kompartemen solutif bagi masalah dan memenuhi kebutuhan petugas medis. Pencapaian ini disebabkan oleh berfungsinya semua fitur sebagaimana dalam desainnya. Berdasarkan penelitian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa peralatan sterilisasi APD Covid-19 dalam penelitian ini efektif dan layak untuk digunakan, utamanya untuk membersihkan diri dan APD petugas medis. Oleh sebab itu, produk peralatan sterilisasi dalam penelitian ini pantas untuk diproduksi secara massal dan dipergunakan di berbagai pusat layanan kesehatan.

Abstract

Permasalahan akibat akumulasi mikroplastik di lingkungan terjadi karena plastik merupakan polimer sintetis yang sulit untuk terdegradasi, salah satunya disebabkan karena plastik mempunyai kerapatan massa molekul yang tinggi. mikroplastik tersebar di lingkungan dan menimbulkan masalah bagi lingkungan dan biota air dan tanah seperti laut, muara, sungai, danau, tanah. Biodegradasi plastik berbahan dasar minyak bumi konvensional dipengaruhi oleh faktor abiotik terjadi dalam waktu lama, dan tidak dapat sepenuhnya terurai dan faktor biotik dipengaruhi oleh mikroorganisme pengurai yang ada di lingkungan yang dapat mempercepat penguraian. Pendekatan untuk mengendalikan pencemaran mikroplastik dapat dilakukan dengan pendekatan teknologi bioremediasi, dengan memanfaatkan potensi mikroba atau bakteri indigenous yang ditumbuhkan dalam lingkungan media yang terpapar mikroplastik. Faktor abiotik (radiasi UV, suhu, tekanan atmosfer) terjadi dalam waktu lama, dan tidak dapat sepenuhnya terurai. Faktor biotik dipengaruhi oleh mikroorganisme pengurai yang ada di lingkungan yang dapat mempercepat penguraian.

Abstract

Kebijakan Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) memberikan tantangan dan kesempatan kepada mahasiswa untuk mengembangkan kreativitas, kemandirian, kapasitas dan kebutuhan mahasiswa di luar program studi dan di luar Perguruan Tinggi selama tiga semester.  Kebijakan MBKM yang sesuai dengan Permendikbud No 3 tahun 2020 mulai dilaksanakan pada beberapa Program Studi di Universitas Trisakti pada semester Gasal 2020/2021. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menilai pemahaman mahasiswa terhadap kebjiakan MBKM dan menganalisis implikasi serta manfaat kebijakan MBKM bagi mahasiswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan survey dengan metode total sampling. Instrumen penelitian berasal dari dua sumber yaitu survey Spada yang dilakukan oleh Dikti dan survey yang dirancang oleh universitas trisakti.  Penelitian ini dilakukan pada semua civitas akademika, akan tetapi pada paper ini bahasan dibatasi pada survey yang dilakukan pada mahasiswa Universitas Trisakti S1, seluruh angkatan dan semua program studi. Hasil analisis menunjukan  bahwa pemahaman mahasiswa tentang MBKM ini masih kecil, akan tetapi 60.87% menyatakan tertarik untuk mengikuti program MKBM. Tiga Program MBKM yang diminati mahasiswa adalah pertukaran pelajar, Magang/Praktik kerja dan kewirausahaan. Mahasiswa menilai implikasi pelaksanaan MBKM ini pada keterampilan untuk menyelesaikan masalah yang kompleks, memperluas perspektif, bekal bekerja setelah lulus, peningkatan soft skill dan persiapan menghadapi masa paska kampus.
