Abstract

Communication is one aspect of human life and behavior as a whole. Humans are interconnected with one another through communication and with communication, humans can fulfill all the needs of their lives. In communicating, humans use language as a tool to express their feelings and opinions. The difference in communication style is in language understanding, where there are often differences in language understanding, this of course can lead to misunderstandings due to differences in meaning, symbols, and terms. In addition, gender also contributes to the socialization process during the growth period of a boy and a girl. Other roles can also be illustrated by the presence of sexism in the language of men and women from certain cultures. Regarding the comparison of communication styles between two different cultures, namely masculine culture (men) and feminine cultures (women), it does not show that men's communication methods are better than women's ways of communicating or vice versa. However, the differences in communication styles can be observed through certain categories, such as differences in speaking, choosing the topic of conversation, interrupting, using words or interrogative sentences, using stories and jokes, and other categories. The concept of male and female communication is like cross-cultural communication which is sometimes confusing, as when imagining two people talking but coming from two countries and even two different planets. This study aims to find out the description of the concept of gender in different communication styles between women and men.

Abstract

Becoming a journalist is not easy, especially for female journalists, if they journalist is sent to cover conflict areas, such as reporting on demonstrations, wars, and even criminal cases. Indirectly, psychologically, when women are faced with things that are raging with more masses, it is necessary to have quite high mental and physical strength. That way, working as a journalist is very high risk because you have to have the courage to sacrifice between life and death to get to the truth. On the other hand, a journalist is also required to be professional in carrying out his duties properly and correctly and commit to improving a journalist's capabilities. The type of research used is qualitative, namely, research that produces information in the form of notes and descriptive data contained in the text under study (Mantra, 2008: 30). Journalist professionalism is a job that aims to find information that is then disseminated based on rules and norms that apply to a journalist when carrying out his duties. The problems between the domestic sphere and his profession as a journalist are endless and of course, it is a challenge in itself. In addition, there is still discrimination from companies against female journalists, such as giving inappropriate wages. With coverage, you have to take risks that need to be maintained, such as information from sources that must be accurate, especially when there is a lot of coverage that does not comply with the protocol. Working as a journalist is very hard, apart from getting news, journalists also risk their lives for news from anywhere.

Abstract

This community service initiative aims to strengthen collaboration between academic institutions and local communities through the Satu Event Satu Nagari (One Event One Village) program in Tanah Datar Regency. The primary objective is to empower nagari (villages) to independently plan and implement events that reflect their unique cultural identities and local potential. By doing so, the program fosters inclusive community development and promotes local tourism. Adopting a Community-Based Research (CBR) approach, the project emphasizes participatory methods and the co-production of knowledge between academics and community members. Implementation involves five key stages: 1) Initial community engagement and needs assessment, 2) Co-designing event concepts with community representatives, 3) Capacity building through workshops and training, 4) Pilot implementation of selected events, 5)Monitoring, reflection, and evaluation. The project has led to increased community involvement, enhanced capabilities among local organizers, and a strengthened sense of ownership over cultural heritage. Several nagari have successfully hosted distinctive events that drew local tourists and reinforced community cohesion. This model demonstrates strong potential for replication in other regions, contributing to the long-term sustainability of culturally grounded community development across West Sumatra.

Abstract

Awareness of the importance of harmony between religions, ethnicities, races, and cultures must always be realized through an understanding of national integration. One of the barriers to this is ethnocentrism, cultural acculturation, and the media, both mass media and new media. Indonesia is one of the countries that are prone to experiencing resistance as a result of excessive fanaticism so if this is allowed to pass, it will have an impact on the integrity of the nation so that national disintegration can emerge. This is what we try to analyze in this paper, the problem of national disintegration is studied through three reviews, namely ethnocentrism, cultural acculturation, and the role of the mass media. The method used in writing this article is a qualitative approach, related to subjective social reality and uses non-participant observation or refers to literature studies. When we talk about ethnocentrism, of course, it is indirectly related to the interactions that are carried out by one person to another individual, individual to the group, or group to group. This interaction can occur with the help of communication. Whatever the form and context of communication, it always displays climate differences between communicators and communicants. Ethnocentrism is widely positioned as oil or fire that can devour people and objects around it. Likewise, ethnocentrism can be a trigger for disharmony and continuous conflict because when interacting both personally with personal, personal with groups and groups against other groups, they always understand and appreciate the superiority of their culture over other cultures. Ethnocentrism is the habit of each group to regard the culture of their group as the best culture.

Abstract

frames the alleged corruption case of sugar imports involving Thomas Trikasih Lembong, the former Minister of Trade. Using the social reality construction approach and Robert Entman's framing model, this study found that Kompas.com tends to frame the news by emphasizing Tom Lembong's direct involvement as a suspect, even though the substance of the news content is relatively uniform. This framing not only influences public perception but also creates a narrative that can direct readers' opinions. This finding shows the important role of the media in shaping social reality and its consequences for the legal process and political stability. This seems to be one of Kompas.com's strategies to support the increase in the electability of the attorney general's office which has recently appeared on social media in handling various corruption cases.
