Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mensosialisasikan pemanfaatan nenas dan limbah nenas dalam rangka peningkatan usaha keluarga di Kelurahan Pulo Brayan Bengkel Baru. Dengan potensi besar nenas sebagai komoditas pertanian, kegiatan ini difokuskan pada pengolahan nenas menjadi berbagai produk olahan yang bernilai jual, serta pemanfaatan limbah nenas untuk keperluan lain. Kegiatan sosialisasi melibatkan peserta dari kalangan petani dan ibu rumah tangga, yang dilakukan melalui pelatihan praktis dan demonstrasi. Materi yang disampaikan mencakup teknik pengolahan nenas menjadi jus, selai, dan keripik, serta cara mengolah limbah nenas menjadi pupuk organik dan kerajinan tangan. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan peserta sebesar 85%, serta antusiasme yang tinggi untuk mengembangkan usaha berbasis nenas. Diharapkan, program ini tidak hanya meningkatkan pendapatan keluarga, tetapi juga mendorong pengelolaan sumber daya pertanian secara berkelanjutan. Rekomendasi untuk tindak lanjut mencakup pembentukan kelompok usaha bersama dan pendampingan dalam pemasaran produk olahan nenas.

Abstract

Pakchoy (Brassica rapa) is a leafy vegetable belonging to the Brassicaceae family (cruciferous vegetables) and is known for its high economic value. This study aimed to determine the effect of cow manure fertilizer and liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) made from rice washing water on the growth and yield of pakchoy plants. The research was conducted at Jl. Komisi C, Pulo Brayan Bengkel Baru, Medan Timur District, Medan City, North Sumatra. A Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) was used, consisting of two treatment factors. The first factor was cow manure fertilizer (S) with four levels: S0 = 0 g, S1 = 375 g, S2 = 500 g, and S3 = 625 g. The second factor was rice washing water LOF (B) with four levels: B0 = 0 ml/L, B1 = 150 ml/L, B2 = 250 ml/L, and B3 = 350 ml/L. There were 16 treatment combinations, each replicated three times. The results showed that the most effective treatment was the combination of S3 and B3, using 625 g of cow manure and 350 ml/L of liquid organic fertilizer, which significantly improved the growth and productivity of pakchoy. Application of cow manure fertilizer had no significant effect on plant height and number of leaves but had a significant effect on leaf width and a highly significant effect on stem diameter and plant weight. Meanwhile, the application of rice washing water LOF had no significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, leaf width, or stem diameter, but showed a significant effect on plant weight.

Abstract

Sejak Tahun 2010 hingga saat ini terjadi letusan abu vulkanik dan lahar dingin Gunung Sinabung yang merusak sebagian besar tanaman kopi, buah naga dan jeruk dan melanda desa Kutambaru. Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat ini telah dilaksanakan di Desa Kutambaru, Kabupaten Karo dengan GPS koordinat Latitute 3,16459 N 309’52,5360, Longitude 98,36436 E 98021’51,708’ pada bulan Maret sampai April 2025. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh tiga puluh lima orang peserta berasal dari Kelompok Tani Jaya Lestari dan Kelompok Sadar Wisata Goa Mante yang berjumlah tiga puluh lima orang. Kegiatan dilaksanakan dalam beberapa tahapan. Tahap 1 yaitu Sosialisasi dan Pelatihan terkait Diversifikasi Produk Olahan Salak Pondoh menjadi Keripik Salak, Selai salak, Pia salak dan coklat Salak. Tahap 2 Pelatihan Membuat Website, E-commerce untuk pemasaran diversifikasi produk olahan salak. Mengembangkan Website pemasaran produk secara digital. Kegiatan Pengabdian dilakukan dengan memberikan pelatihan kepada anggota Masyarakat yang berjumlah 35 orang. Pelatihan terkait pembuatan Diversifikasi Olahan Produk Salak dan Membuat website dan E-commerce berjalan lancer. Hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan menunjukkan keberhasilan yang ditandai dengan keaktifan para peserta dalam mengikuti pelatihan membuat diversifikasi olahan Produk Salak dan membuat website E-commerce untuk pemasaran.

Abstract

Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) is one of the horticultural commodities that has an important role in the Indonesian economy. One of the main threats to this plant is the attack ofthe pest Spodoptera exiguawhich can cause significant damage, especially at heavy infestation rates resulting in leaves drying out and falling prematurely. In an effort to control the population of this pest, one planting pattern system that can be usedThe intercropping system uses refugia plants such as marigold flowers (Tagetes erecta L.) and zinnia (Zinnia elegans), which act as shelters for natural enemies of pests, including predators and parasitoids. This study aims to evaluate the ability of refugia plants in controlling pest attacks on intercropped onion plants. The results showed thatat the observation of Week 1 no intensity of attacks occurred. In weeks 2, 3, 4, and 5 there were attacks with the highest attack intensity was 1.25% in P0 treatment and the lowest attack intensity in P2 treatment.Meanwhile,P1 and P2 treatment showed lower pest population densities compared to P0.P0 treatment shows the highest pest population density compared to other treatments. In addition, arthropod diversity analysis resultedan index of 2.07%,indicating the level of species diversity that is in the refugia intercropping system.Because the percentage of attacks of such treatment ranges from>0-≤10%.

Abstract

The chlorophyll content in coffee leaves greatly influences growth productivity and productivity. This study aimed to examine the effect of seed soaking and rhizosphere bacteria microcapsule dosage on the growth rate and chlorophyll content of Liberica coffee leaves planted on peatland. The experiment used a completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors, namely seed soaking time (0, 9, 10, and 11 hours) and rhizosphere bacteria microcapsule dosage (0, 10, 15, and 20 grams), with a total of 16 treatment combinations replicated twice. The parameters measured included leaf area, number of leaves, and chlorophyll content. The results showed that 11-hour seed soaking treatment produced the largest leaf area (40.32 mm), 9–10 hours soaking gave the highest number of leaves (10.34), and 20 grams of microcapsules gave the highest chlorophyll content (79.16 CCI). ANOVA and Duncan's test showed that seed soaking and microcapsules significantly affected the growth and chlorophyll content of leaves. In conclusion, the combination of seed soaking for 9–11 hours and a 20 gram microcapsule dose can improve the growth and quality of Liberica coffee leaves.

Abstract

Fertilization using organic fertilizers in agricultural land can increase the number of organisms in the soil and the chemical, physical and biological properties of the soil can be improved. This study aims to determine the effect of providing POC fruit waste and chicken manure on the growth and production of long beans (Vigna sinensis L.) and to determine the best dose for the growth and production of long beans. This study applies a Factorial Randomized Block Design with 2 treatment factors repeated 3 times. Factor one concentration of POC fruit waste consists of 4 levels: P0 = 0 ml / L / plot, P1 = 200 ml / L / plot, P2 = 300 ml / L / plot and P3 = 400 ml / L / plot. Factor 2 dose of chicken manure fertilizer consists of 4 levels: K0 = 0 kg / plot, K1 = 2 kg / plot, K2 = 4 kg / plot and K3 = 6 kg / plot. The parameters observed included plant length, stem diameter, number of pods per sample/harvest, pod length/sample, pod weight per sample and pod weight per plot. The results of this study indicate that the provision of POC concentration of fruit waste and chicken manure fertilizer doses have a significant effect on all observed variables. Abstract

Liquid organic fertilizer is a nutrient-rich solution produced from the decomposition of organic materials, including agricultural waste such as rice washing water (leren water). Red Barangan Banana (Musa acuminata colla) is a leading commodity in North Sumatra with high economic value, known for its sweet taste and soft texture. This study aims to examine the effect of rice washing water POC on the growth of Red Barangan Banana. The method used was a quantitative experiment with four variations of POC doses: P0 (0 ml/L), P1 (150 ml/L), P2 (300 ml/L), and P3 (450 ml/L). The observed parameters included stem diameter, plant height, and leaf length and width. The results showed that the P3 dose (450 ml/L) provided the best growth, with a stem diameter of 8.44 cm, plant height of 22.38 cm, leaf length of 24.93 cm, and leaf width of 11.29 cm. Overall, rice washing water POC proved effective in enhancing plant growth, particularly in stem diameter, plant height, and leaf length. This study encourages the utilization of agricultural waste as a sustainable natural nutrient source for farmers and the agricultural industry.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the process of processing Awak banana peel waste (Musa paradisiaca) into organic vinegar by giving Acetobacter aceti bacteria and to determine the use of Acetobacter aceti bacteria to affect the processing of Awak banana peel waste into organic vinegar. This research was conducted from September to October 2022 at LAB MIPA USM, Banda Aceh. The method used in this study is a complete randomized design (RAL) with a 1 factorial pattern, namely the addition of Acetobacter aceti bacteria (P0=0%, P1=10%, P2=20%, P3=30% and P4=40%). Based on the results of the study, it shows a good treatment obtained at P1, namely with the addition of Acetobacter aceti bacteria as much as 10%. While the lowest results were obtained in P0 treatment without the addition of Acetobacter aceti bacteria. The results of the ANAVA test on vinegar color, vinegar taste, vinegar aroma and vinegar PH showed a real difference and the results of research on the amount of acetic acid obtained were (P0 = 0.6%, P1 = 6%, P2 = 4.8%, P3 = 4.2%, P4 = 3%). Then your banana peel waste can be used as a basic ingredient for making organic vinegar and Acetobacter aceti bacteria have a positive effect on processing your banana peel waste into organic vinegar.

Abstract

Lahan tidur atau terlantar adalah lahan yang sudah tidak digunakan selama lebih dari dua tahun. Lahan tidur yang dimaksud adalah suatu pertapakan /lahan kosong milik warga yang sudah tidak digunakan selama lebih dari dua tahun, sehingga keadaannya semak . Sehingga diharapkan dengan pemanfaatan lahan tidur menjadi optimal dan dapat bermanfaat bagi masyarakat sekitar terutama dalam peningkatan ekonomi keluarga. Tujuan Penelitian: Untuk Mengetahui Bagaimana Peran Kelurahan Pulo Brayan Bengkel Baru dan Stakeholder dalam Pemanfaatan Lahan Tidur dalam Peningkatan Ekonomi Keluarga dan Menganalisis Pendapatan Kelompok Tani yang dihasilkan dari Pemanfaatan Lahan Tidur. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis deskriptif . Metode Pengambilan Data dilakukan dengan wawancara dan data sekunder dari kelurahan. Responden ditentukan secara Purposive sampling yaitu dengan sengaja yaitu, tokoh Masyarakat, Kelompok Tani Berkah Lingkungan II, Lurah Pulo Brayan Bengkel Baru , ASN Kelurahan, dan Masyarakat sekitar . Dalam mengkaji permasalahan yang ada di gunakan analisis fishbone . Kelurahan Pulo Brayan Bengkel Baru berkolaborasi dengan stakeholder dan semua pihak terkait telah berhasil dalam mengedukasi dan mengajak warga terkait pemanfaatan lahan tidur untuk pemanfaatan lahan tidur. Dari Pemanfaatan lahan tidur yang telah dilakukan kelompok tani memiliki motivasi dan telah mampu menambah pendapatan mereka untuk meningkatkan taraf hidup dapat dilihat dari analisis pendapatan usaha tani mereka .Petani merasakan manfaat berkebun dari tanaman cabai, lengkuas, Sawi dan lainnya. Jelompok Tani di Kelurahan Pulo Brayan Bengkel Baru telah memotivasi masyarakat di sekitar agar memanfaatkan lahan yang belum dikelola.

Abstract

Abstrak: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana strategi pengembangannya Urban Farming untuk mencegah  mitigasi perubahan iklim di Kecamatan Medan Timur. Metode analisis data menggunakan analisis SWOT. Dari hasil analisis SWOT untuk strategi pengembangan maka harus adanya kerja sama antara pemerintah dan para petani agar subsektor tanaman pangan dan hortikultura. Peningkatan nilai tambah dan daya saing hasil pertanian perkotaan terutama secara organik demi mitigasi perubahan iklim., Meningkatkan potensi SDM melalui penyuluhan pertanian perkotaan yang ada di Kecamatan ,  fungsi informasi pasar, Pemberdayaan kelompok tani, dengan pelatihan terkait pertanian urban farming dan pemasaran. Latar belakang: Fenomena perubahan iklim merupakan salah satu faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi terhadap produksi pertanian pada umumnya. Isu mengenai perubahan iklim (climate change) menjadi popular pada saat memasuki abad ke -21, akibat adanya perubahan iklim dapat memberikan dampak negatif bagi sistem fisik, biologis, ekologi lingkungan maupun pembangunan sosial ekonomi dimasa yang akan datang. Metode: Analisis SWOT Hasil: Dari hasil analisis SWOT untuk strategi pengembangan maka harus adanya kerja sama antara pemerintah dan para petani agar subsektor tanaman pangan dan hortikultura.
